    Well if you haven't done any work then it wont do it for you. I think you know what you have to do you just have to do it.

    Unfortunately the stomach is the last to go. As long as I can hide it with clothes then I am fine with it.

    In need of a Mentor

    So what is wrong with going for a walk. If the weather is bad in your area, find a mall and walk. They are excuses for not exercising. We all made excuses our whole life about why we had to wait until Monday to start a new diet, why I can fit in those pants when I lose another ten pounds (that I never lost before) and my closet full of clothes I cant wear, why I have to cheat because I needed it. We all can make any excuse we want too in order to cop out from doing what is right but haven't you been in life jail long enough to want to get out of that prison that has robbed you of your life?
  5. I was not in any way trying to scold anyone but I can eat very healthy for as little as 50 a week. I get plenty of Protein and boxed and prepackaged meals are not healthy. Do you know how much crap is put in to that stuff to make it taste even a little good. I have yet to find any kind of prepackaged meal that taste good. What you do is entirely up to you but I did not get my band to have to use another weight loss program to get the weight off. It's just simply ridiculous to me that I would have to depend on something that failed me. It takes less then five minutes to make tuna fish salad, less then five minutes to pack a salad, less then five minutes to hard boil some eggs, less then a minute to microwave a veggie burger. I don't see any reasoning here of why you wouldn't have time to prepare or cook enough food for the week on a day that you are off. But whatever works for you. I just enjoy fresh food and I am not going to give up my fresh food for something in a box that taste utterly awful.
  6. Well in your statement you have tried JC before and lost 30lbs but put it back on seems a bit over the top. Those diets never worked for us in the past and the reason it wont work no is because you can't be on it forever. Why pay all that money when your band will work if you learn how to use it. There are many ways you can have food readily available like cooking on your days off from work, freezing it and then you just have containers to take out that are already prepared and just heat and eat. I would not rely on anymore diet programs that never cured me of obesity before. I don't see the sense in it. Why not have things on hand that are healthier then prepackaged food. Prepackaged food from JC or any other weight loss center is filled with chemicals that your body does not need. Learn to eat with your band healthy foods and you don't need JC to do that. Spend what you are spending on them at the grocery store. What is wrong with making chicken salad, tuna salad, cottage cheese with some fruit. Certainly these are a no brainer to make. I refuse to let those kind of people take my money again when it never helped to begin with. Just my opinion for what it is worth.

    Lapband Failures

    Have you had any fills since your surgeon is so far away? Maybe your thyroid issue is the reason you are not losing weight. I would find another surgeon close to where you live and see if they can get you back on track with some fills. Never give up on your band there has to be another reason why you have not lost weight. You also have to be active to lose weight. Don't give up just find a doctor in your area that will see you.

    There is no issue with drinking wine except its a bunch of empty calories. Alcohol in general is a bunch of empty calories.

    Cardio on Rest Days?

    What people don't realize with exercise is your body needs a day to recoup after exercise. That is why they say 3 days a week. What would happen if you worked 7 days a week for year and never had a day off? You would be exhausted. Same with exercise you have to take a break and give your body time to relax also.
  10. I have seen this question too frequently. I am banded now what, I got approved now what, I am post op now what? People your surgeon and their team should leave you with no questions like this. You should know every step of every moment with your band except which foods it will hate. You shouldn't be second guessing what you are eating, wonder what you are supposed to be doing. If you have to ask now what, then you need to find another doctor. No one should come out of weight loss surgery blind. Not knowing what to eat, the problems that can occur, how often you should be drinking and so forth. You spent six months to a year preparing for your surgery and you should not be asking now what because your doctor, nutritionist and their team should have explained everything to you.

    Complications and no one seems to care!

    I would go to your primary and have them refer you to a wound clinic since the bariatric surgeon is not doing anything. It happens. Wounds dehiss more then people realize. If you are packing it make sure the packing is wet.

    To Exercise or Not When You are Sick

    I would not go to the gym if you are sick. They do not clean the machines after each persons use and you would just be spreading germs to others. If it's nice out side take a walk if not then rest and get the fluids in.

    Protein Supplements

    Your taste will change after surgery so I wouldn't buy a whole lot of anything. I use Body Fortress powder when I need it. I also like EAS but what you like now you may not like after surgery.

    When you can go 3 to 4 hours on a small amount of food without being hungry.
  15. I read an article about a study they were doing on people who ate meat that had been treated with antibiotics while the animals were alive. Those people vs people who ate organic meat gained weight. They also took a ship of navy men and women and put them on antibiotics for 7 weeks. Each one gained weight. With the hormones and chemicals ingested in animals I have no doubt there is some truth to this. Look how old children look for their ages now.

    Just scheduled tummy tuck

    I don't know about the pain but just know you will have a scar from hip to hip. They can't really do it any other way. I would also ask if he is putting in drains or leaving a drain hole because I know people who got the new version of just a drain hole and it got infected and took a long time to heal. I would rather be bothered with two drains for a week then a weeping hole that takes forever to close up and puts you at risk for infection. That would be my concern.

    Book on self sabotaging

    You have to come to the realization that you have to do what you need to do to get healthy. Stop thinking about it as losing weight and think about it as being healthy. When I get in those moods where I want to eat a half gallon of ice cream I think about how good I feel after losing 120lbs and how easily I could just put it right back on. Of course weight loss is a plus but you are trying to get healthy. Free yourself from food prison. Only you can do that. No book, no therapist, no one but you can do it. We are addicted to food point blank. If you want to let your addiction keep you prisoner for life then do it. Put the scale away and stop getting on it until you can wrap your head around the fact that it's not going to move everyday, every week or every month in some cases. If you just make good food choices then the weight will come off. You have to want it more then sabotaging yourself. If not then you won't get it.

    Depressed, discouraged. No Weight Loss, Hungry, Help!

    You can't fix what's broken if you don't have support. Even though we are not your family we still can help with any concerns you might have. The only way the band will work is if you are willing to change your eating habits. I know it sounds like any other diet but it really isn't. We have spent all of our life poisoning our bodies with food that it's hard to let go of those old habits. You will feel so much better mentally and physically when you change your eating habits. It certainly wouldn't hurt to see someone about your depression either. You have to take baby steps but you had surgery and you need to work on that so you can feel better about your self.

    Frustrated!

    You are going to have times when you don't lose. There will be days, weeks, months that you don't always lose. It's not about trying to get it off as fast as you can because they are the people who gain it all back. Relax no one is racing in this journey. It took me three years to lose all my weight so stop being discouraged. It took you a life time to gain it all it wont come off over night.

    Activated Charcoal Opinions

    Most doctors give you anti nausea medication and I really don't see the need for the use of this. It is only something that can be used for short term and can cause intestinal blockage. I would not want to take it myself but that is just me. I never had an issue with the empty feeling.

    Pre-op jitters

    Slow down. You can't focus on two devils at one time and I am not promoting smoking by any means because I am an ex smoker 4 years come april 15th yay me. Well back to you. You need to concentrate on why you are doing this. You are tired of living your life being obese and want to get healthy. Small steps to get you where you need to be. You can't expect to undo all the bad habits you have taken years to acquire over night. You need to focus on the pre op diet and nothing else. When you quit smoking especially at a critical time like this of course you are going to want to eat. I am not telling you to smoke but I am saying your preop diet is first and foremost important. It is time to learn that you don't need the garbage that you have been filling your body with that has robbed you of your life. Get yourself together and its not a race. We all are winners when we reach goal.
  23. Sometimes you have to reset your metabolism. We get in carb heaven and forget what happens. Weight stalls are common as you lose but weight loss depend on more then just eating. sleep is a big reason people do not lose weight. Everyone needs 8 hours of sleep a night. Your body needs 12 hours to burn off the calories you have had for the day so I try to not eat after my 12th hour. Stress is also a reason you wont lose weight also. Stressing about anything even if its the scale moving. You also have to make sure you are not constipated and going regularly. Yes I know yuk but it is part of the getting rid of process. Not drinking enough Water also will not help with weight loss.
  24. At least once a month or every other I go back to liquids for a few days just to detox if I am eating crappy which happens in maintenance I believe B-52 also does this. I drink three Protein shakes a day and Water. It helps get you back in the right direction. Let's face it we all had surgery because we ate like crap and as someone who is maintaining it is not easy and sometimes you just need those days to get yourself back on the wagon. I use the Body Fortress from Wal-mart with 8 ounces of two percent milk. I use a scoop and a half which is 45 grams of protein very little sugar. Plus the added protein in the milk. After three days I can feel the difference and it helps me a whole lot. I don't always eat perfect (surprise) and this helps me and reminds me of why I had surgery. It puts me back in bandster hell so to speak lol to remember all the trouble I went through to get where I am today. You will survive three days of this I can assure you. Working 3-11 is an odd shift for anyone to work because you stay up late and sleep late which is something I have had to get used too. I have worked 7a to 7p most of my life. So now I have a desk job with very little movement except picking up documents throughout the hospital. But I did my time on the floor and now is my time to enjoy my middle aged years. You would be surprised how much this helps get you back on track. If my hunger is really really bad I will eat a Protein Bar in between. I prefer zone perfect. Pure protein makes higher Protein Bars but then you don't want to over protein yourself either because your kidneys have to work extra hard to get rid of it but that will be for another day.
  25. I am four years banded and my stomach still makes noises. I can hear it when the food goes through my band. It's no big deal. I have asked people if they notice it but no one has said anything. It can be your secret inner voice talking to you.
