    Crud.... Here we go again!

You could have gastritis. I would just drink some warm fluids until you can call your doctor tomorrow.

    My new walking partner

Jake is really a sweet dog. I thought he would be hard to handle since he has not walked on a leash in a long time but he was really good. I don't know who is more out of shape me or him. We were both panting at the end of the walk. I think he is more scared of the cats then they are of him.

He is such a sweet dog. I can't wait to take him for a walk tomorrow.
  5. The best thing you can do is be an organ donor on your license.
  6. I don't think you were quite understanding the articles. They will not use skin from live people because they can't procure it fast enough to make sure it is healthy tissue. They will only use cadaver skin or from the dead so that they can harvest it and procure it immediately. During surgery and especially plastic surgery your skin is thrown in a pile with all the other skin for that day. No treatment center is going to take skin from a plastic surgeon when they don't know if it has been kept sterile or not. I have talked to many plastic surgeons and they said no they do not send skin for donation.

choosing not to have extra skin remove?

Well I am 51 and it hides nicely under clothes. At this point I really don't want an elective surgery if I can help it. I have had no issues with the sagging and yes it is ugly but my husband loves me in all my ugliness. I don't want to have a tummy tuck. I just think if its not broken don't fix it. Whats a little extra fluff and jiggle. Maybe one day but for now I would prefer not to have anything I don't need done.

    Hungry

It has never stopped me from being hungry. If you are hungry eat. Eat six small meals a day Protein based.

    Drinking/Gulping Water Fast?

I can drink Water like a professional water drinker lol. No problems gulping water.
  10. No because my husband is a bean pole and buys ice cream non stop. Sometimes I see a funeral in his near future lmao
  11. Losing weight with the band is not fast. Some do lose fast in the beginning but that is rare. Normal weight loss is 1 to 2lbs a week. There isn't any sense in getting upset, discouraged, or want to give up because you are a month post op or a few weeks and you haven't lost 70lbs. You didn't gain weight over night. It was a period of years of bad eating habits that caused you to gain 100 to 200lbs so getting it off in a short amount of time unless you are starving yourself is not going to happen. If there are those who lost weight quickly then good for them but it took me 3 years and of absolutely no cheating to get all my weight off. If you are a smoker and quit smoking it is even going to take you longer. Yes I know that from personal experience. You can't drop weight rapidly with the band unless you are some circus freak that lost 200lbs in a month. It's not a fast process but it works if you just allow it. 52lbs weight loss in a year is better then 52lbs of weight gain. A loss is a loss no matter how you lose it or how long it takes you to lose it. Be patient it will come. Rome wasn't built over night and neither is the road work here in Jacksonville done over night. More like a period of years. Stop weighing yourself everyday. If you can't wrap your head around the scale that your weight can fluctuate up to 9lbs because of Water weight then stop being a scale monger. Weigh yourself at your doctors office. The more you weigh yourself and get discouraged the more likely you are setting yourself up for failure. It's not a race and you don't have to be the first one to the finish line. Stop letting the scale wreck your day or month. Just do what you are supposed to and it will happen.

    Just Learning

Depends on if you are self pay or insurance. Most insurance companies require six months of supervised visits with your primary and for them to write a letter of medical necessity. If you are self pay you can do it whenever.
  13. I wouldn't really count on losing 10 pounds a month because sometimes it does not work like that. Some months you may only lose 4lbs. You have to be realistic with the weight loss. Sometimes you don't lose every single week or month.
  14. cheryl2586

    "3 week stall"

You all seriously need to quit weighing yourselves. I went a whole year and lost nothing, nada, and I never gave up. Stop weighing yourselves every single day or you will drive yourself insane.

    2nd fill

You're not supposed to wait until your band tells you that you are full enough. Being full should never happen now. Measure one cup of food with most being Protein and that is all you should be eating. The band is simply there to keep you from being hungry not to stop you from over eating.
  16. 1. Stay off the scale 2. Get up and move around at least once an hour 3. Drink as much as you can in small quantities 4. You are going to be hungry at some point it is normal but stick with the plan your doctor gave you even if you want to eat a house. 5. Remove any food from your house bad food that will cause you to want to eat it. 6. You have to be patient until you get enough fills to keep you from being hungry but remember it does not always keep everyone from hunger 7. When you are feeling discouraged look at some of the veteran's before and after pictures and know it works if you work with it. 8. Any medical issues call your doctor and do not post it here. Anything that has to do with pain, nausea, something not feeling right call your doctor he is getting paid to tell you what is normal or not. 9. If you want to help the gas move along you have to walk 10. If you come out of surgery not knowing what you are supposed to eat then you need to call your doctors office and make sure that every step of your plan is readily available to you from your surgeon. Every surgeon has their own ways. What I could eat post op may not be what you can eat. Do not be afraid to call your surgeon.

Words I never thought I would hear...

Feels good. Awesome and happy for you.

    Feeling a little bit discouraged-vent

You are not going to lose weight every day, every week or every month. That is what you have to get in your head. Stay off the scale and weigh yourself every other week. Just because you had wls does not mean you are going to lose weight all the time. 4 to 8 lbs a month is normal for lap band patients. Get rid of your scale and weigh yourself at your doctors appointment.

    ONLY ME! i flipped!

Well get something out of it. Tell him to give you a fill while he is in there.

    When Is Enough Enough?

My doctor told me that 170 would be manageable for me and it was not about the BMI charts. Any weight loss increases you to be healthy. Just do what you feel is right for you. Don't worry about what the chart says.

    Hair falling out

This is why Protein is important. You are not losing hair because of anesthesia you are losing hair because of weight loss and not getting the proper nutrition. All of us lose hair after WLS. Get in more protein and take your Vitamins.

    Help

If you want to lose 15lbs then you are going to have to give up the carbs. Try Protein and veggies for a while. I myself do not recommend drinking calories because they don't keep you full but drink a Protein Drink for breakfast, have 1 ounce of cheese or greek yogurt for a snack, only veggies and meat for lunch and dinner. It will come off believe me.

Eating more than 1 cup in a sitting

Let me just say this. Your pouch is made to hold 2 to 4 ounces. When you are at proper restriction this could cause not only pouch dilation but also esophageal dilation. 4 ounces is a half cup of food. Most eat a cup but you are running the risk of doing some damage to not only your pouch but to your esophagus as well. You are also putting yourself at risk for band erosion by forcing so much food into the stomach and pushing the stomach in to the band. I would NOT be eating 2 and a half cups of food just because you can. You can because you have no fills. Practice now eating less so you won't learn the hard way.

    Whey Protein?

I also agree that after a period of time you shouldn't be drinking calories. I would rather eat 200 calories of real food then drink a Protein shake and be hungry in an hour. Liquid diets don't work. I am sure we all did slim fast when it came out and did it work. Yes until you stopped drinking it.
  25. People grieve over moving just like anything else. I grew up in New Jersey, moved to Florida when I was 37 and I had never been out of the state in all that time. I cried almost all the way to Florida because I had no idea how people lived else where. Now I have traveled everywhere in the US and out of the US. The first year I lived here I hated it, cursed and wanted to go home but I got used to it. You will be fine it always takes time when change happens.
