    Excersise after a fill

I went to the gym and asked their advice too and yes they said you should not work out and lift weights if you are on liquids and consuming little calories. Yes the whole idea is for us to decrease our calorie intake but I dont think 300 calories in a day is enough to work out on and neither did they. You have to fuel your body to workout with carbs and Protein of which because of being on liquids was not getting enough of. From a trainer: Eat after your workout. If you don’t, then your body will start to metabolise the most readily available energy source. As you have used all your glycogen energy sources during a workout, that source of energy will be the protein in your muscles. It will not touch the fat until protein reserves are very low. You will probably feel very weak if you don’t eat, as you don’t have enough energy to do normal bodily processes. Furthermore, you will drop weight but this weight drop will be from loss of muscle – the fat will remain. I suggest that after a workout you eat a banana, some complex carb and a Protein shake. This way, your body is satisfied for immediate/ medium term energy needs and your muscles have protein to rebuild/repair after the workout. This way, you keep muscle mass! (by the way, the more muscle you have, the more it will fat you will burn throughout a exercise and during the day!)
  2. Its everyones choice where they eat and what they eat but like spartan in the long run its also going to cause you big problems then you will be wondering why you are not losing weight. I dont go to fast food restuarants ever because they dont have items I wish to eat. I get up earlier in the morning if I am hungry and cook an egg or drink a protein shake because fast food is not what we need to be eating. If Im out I make sure before I go that I have eaten enough that I wont get hungry. Everyone's choice is their choice I just choose to not patron those places. Those places are the reason why we all are like we are. I make sure I take what I need with me if I know Im going out for the day. Its not hard

    Caffeine

Caffiene can ulcerate the pouch. I dont drink it and dont miss it. It irritated the hell out of my stomach after surgery. I would say increase your water and I wouldnt be doing B-12 vitamins unless you are deficient in them. I am a year plus post op and I do not take supplements and my vitamin levels are just fine. If your vitamin levels are fine you are only putting out expensive pee because your body will not use it if you dont need it.
  4. If you are stretching good after your work out the soreness should be minimal. Always stretch very well even if you have to do it a couple of times.

    Excersise after a fill

Well he said because of such a low calorie intake while on liquids that working out wouldnt be best until after the liquid phase when you are eating more regular food. So three days with no workout but I will go back on saturday. He also said the weight lifting shouldnt be done either right after a fill. So there is my answer

    Too much Protein????

If you are not eating 60 grams of protein a day then its probably not the protein. Even in a person without the band up to 127 grams is needed to make the body function correctly.
  7. It is tipical for insurance companies to want you to be obese for a certain amount of time. Not sure about tri care though just keep thinking it will come and get your other stuff started.
  8. You are supposed to be on liquids for three days post fill then upgrade to soft I would never try to eat chicken after a fill. Didnt your doctor give you post fill instructions. No food for a leat the first couple of days after a fill.

    Second thoughts... again

I only have an issue with bread and pasta and rice which I have lived without. I havent tried steak and all fruit is okay. I dont have problems with many things its all about the chewing and small bites.
  10. Its not the right portion sizes for band patients you can not eat that much food and why have the band if your going to use a weight loss system that makes no sense. Let your band work for you

how much wieght loss before first fill

I didnt have a fill for over a year and lost 70lbs I didnt eat any bad carbs either. You are going to be hungry as the swelling goes down but you have to have portion control. I wouldnt be eating any bread or pasta right now save that for later when you have met some of your goals
  12. I had chronic shoulder pain for one entire year. Until I had my first fill it finally went away sometimes it comes back. Sometimes the position of the band is not laying correctly on the nerve causing that pain. It horrible to live with I know. How many fill s have you had? I have only had two in a year and three months so the pain seems to have subsided. I would definitely see if you can find another surgeon but unfortunately that pain may never go away.

    Thursday is my Surgery

Good luck. Chewing is an issue I think for a lot of us but when food gets stuck it will remind you to slow down and chew. We all gained weight because of our love of food but it really hasnt bothered me eating less because I am full so I dont miss pigging out on a portion of three peoples food. In the long run it is more expensive to eat healthy but it is better on the budget because you need so little.

    Bread?

Couldnt eat bread after surgery and a year later still cant. Pasta cant eat. I have eaten flat bread with some difficulty but I never was a big bread eater so Im not dying without it. Some people can never eat bread but it hurts like all get out when it does get stuck so I dont bother.

    Need a Little Encouragement

You are doing this for yourself not your family or friends. Although they want to help us sometimes over nurturing us is too much and is not good for us. Do what you need to do best for yourself

    ACID REFLUX / INDIGESTION ISSUES

You may need a little taken out. There is a sign big as day in my Drs office that if you are having acid reflux, coughing at night you are toooooo tight. I would ask to have at least 1cc removed and see if it doesnt help. You dont always need big increment fills I only started out with 2cc's and my stomach is so sensitive this is only my second fill in a year and three months and all I have is 3 and a half cc's total in my band. Just a thought

    Tired of unwanted advice

I dont worry about what others say. My sister told me today if I get down to 150 I will look sick. Well I havent weighed 150 in 29 years before I had children and I didnt look sick then. People are just not going to be happy with ones decision to have the band so I say tough luck, its not you, its me and move on. People will never be happy if you are too thin or to heavy they will always have something to say but 150lbs sure looks good to me no matter what anyone thinks. I dont now or since surgery have looked unhealthy and dont plan on it ever.
  19. I eat salads for lunch every single day for a year and 3 months I have never had salad get stuck. Now try some frosted mini wheats and ooooooch
  20. Your not in starvation mode yet because your band is too new. You will get there if you only eat 7 to 900 calories a day.

    Snack Ideas.. help!

Grapes, strawberries, blueberries, frozen fruit, yogurt, sugarfree pudding, sugar free dove chocolates (but they are not a low calorie food) zone perfect bars, protein shakes with frozen fruit blended, sugarfree popsicles, sugarfree hard candy, Im not a salty person so the other stuff I can go without.

    Curious

The band will not take the place of a diet so you dont have too I dont know why you would think that. You still have to have portion control and not eat junk just like on a diet. If you are not excersising then your weight loss will stand still eventually. You have to move to lose after a certain point. If you thought the band was just magically going to do all the work and you would just lose weight with no effort then you were very misimformed by your doctor. Too little food causes your body to go into starvation mode which causes no weight loss. Come on people diet and excersise is the key to successful weight loss.

Jobless Rate Falls, Good Job Republicans!

Its not the governments yay for jobs because they are sucking taxpayers money every single day. Its the companies at hands ability to hire new workers because of personal gain in the company. I dont see why everyone thinks the politicians are handleing business and creating jobs. They are all sitting on their asses collecting a large salary, take weeks off whenever they want and dont pay for healthcare or social security. Maybe just maybe the economy would blossom if their sorry asses would start contributing instead of taking away from americans.

    CAN'T WAIT TO LOSE MY....

I cant wait to lose my extra skin with a tummy tuck. 40 more pounds and to the plastic surgeon I go. Oh but wait the 40lbs is probably my gut
  25. First of all I didnt pay big bucks my insurance covered it and I did not do it for the weight loss part as much as if I didnt do it possibly having my stomach removed from excessive bile backing up in to my stomach and in to my esophagus. My GI doctor suggested it for the issues I was having with my stomach which now I have none. The weight loss was just a plus. Some bands are done for other reasons besides weight loss. I had huge stomach issues that could not be resolved without the band or have my stomach completely and totally removed so which option would you have chosen. Secondly you can still eat large amounts of food only it will take you longer. The food only stays in the pouch less than a minute then it goes on to the bottom portion of your stomach which is still there, always will be and still is as big as it ever was from the beginning. If you want to lose weight with the band then it is a diet and portion control there is no other way out of it except for that. Yes I did lose 70lbs and now am weight training because I can now and dont have horrid pain in my stomach. It was only a trial for the bile if it didnt work then I probably would have had major surgery. It worked, I am thinner, and happier but never the less still dieting.
