  1. There is always going to be plateus that goes along with any type of dieting. If you are having trouble eating I wouldnt suggest getting a fill yet. You dont have much room left to fill right now. I would say wait it out for a while and try to see if you can lose without a fill. In my opinion I think you are restricted enough you are just reaching a plateu and if you do get a fill and there is nothing left to fill and you stop losing what will happen. I would just wait for a while and see how you do. As long as you keep losing something I wouldnt worry about it.

Will I ever be able to indulge?

What ever you decide to eat after WLS is totally up to you, however why waste time and money if you continue to eat like you do now. Isnt that why we all were over weight to begin with. If you want to eat whatever you want then I would say dont have the surgery. Your whole goal is to learn how to eat healthy and eat smaller portions of healthy food then you will get where you want. If you dont then you wont lose one ounce.

    I Hate My Job!!!!

Well I am post op but I can tell you in the Drs office I work there is always a ton of candy for everyone. There is a vase, jar, candy dish sitting in every single corner of that big office. I buy sugar free and keep in my desk. We use to get catered lunch every single day by the drug reps but the government stopped that by saying the drug reps are buying the doctors but that is a good thing even though I would usually eat the salad. But candy galore every inch of the office, brought in by everyone it sucks royally but will power. Some days when it is busy there is no time to eat it so that is a plus.

    Weight Loss

I was 5 months with no weight loss then 7lbs in three days. Sometimes if you eat too much protein it will cause no weight loss or weight gain. I think our bodies are just adjusting to all the things we never did so they want to be rebels at times and say no. However I think Im back on track with losing again. Hope I dont get stuck again for a long time.
  5. Now it seems that people just dont know how to search the forums to find an answer to their question and repeat the same question so here I am laying it all out for ya as simple as I can: Its all normal!!!!!!! Gas? Yes you will have gas, your stomach will growl, talk, make noises you never heard, be loud enough for the neighbors to hear it. The gas will go away within a few days or by the first week. You may never get rid of gas. It may always be there. The band changes your digestive flow causing GAS. Put gas x on your grocery list. Pain? Yes you will have pain. It is just not an option. To what degree you have it is up to everyone. Your port site will however be sore longer than any of the other sites can take up to a couple months to feel completely pain free. One day post op pain, two three four days post op pain. You may have pain for two weeks. Sore Throat? You may have a sore throat after surgery because they put a tube down your throat while you are sleeping. Nausea? Most bariatric patients wake up nauseated. This is common it should not last. Have them put a patch behind your ear before you go in to surgery. However if you throw up unstoppable for more than you think is normal then call your doctor. Problems? If you feel you are having a medical issue call your doctor. That is what they are there for. We are not medical professionals and can not diagnose medical issues. Band slippage? If your band slips you will have uncontrolable vomiting. Not because you can eat more than normal. HUNGER? When the swelling from surgery goes down you will BE HUNGRY. HUNGER IS SOMETHIING THAT NEVER STOPS ITS IS NATURAL FOR YOUR BODY TO TELL YOU WHEN TO EAT. You may get fuller faster but you will still get hungry. Shoulder pain? If your pain persist more than normal you could and probably are eating too much. You have a nerve that goes from your stomach to our left shoulder and the band presses on it. Signal STOP EATING. Head Hunger? You need to realize that the band will not control head hunger it just wont. If your stomach is growling you are hungry eat. If you just feel empty drink. If your not roaring then you are not hungry. Restriction? You may or may not have it from the beginning. If you dont you may need a fill 6 weeks post op. Weight loss? It is not going to be fast. Im sure you were told slow but steady and then maybe not steady after a while. Its all about you, your metabolism and your ability to stick to the diet. Diet? The lap band is a diet and if you dont think it is then dont get it because it is a diet/life style change. You can not continue to eat the way you did before surgery and think you will lose weight because you wont. Nothing taste better in your mouth than being thin. Soda and carbonation? Drink it if you want to expand your pouch otherwise stay clear of carbonated beverages. Alcohol. Although alcohol will not hurt your band the empty calories will hurt your weight loss so dont attempt it. One leads to two. If you are steady losing weight I dont suggest getting a fill. Only get a fill if your not losing weight, overly hungry but if you eat enough Protein you should stay fuller longer, and or gain back weight. If you keep losing weight you do not need a fill. Why put yourself through that when it is not necessary. Fluids? You need to drink 64 oz of fluids after surgery whether you want to or not or risk being dehydrated. Dehydration means IV"s if you love needles then dont drink after surgery. Bread? Some may never be able to eat bread ever. Some may. Same with Pasta and rice. Exercise? Its entirely up to you whether you want to excersise or not. The band alone is not going to do it. It is a tool and that is all it is to teach you portion control. If you do not use it as a tool then you will not lose weight. If you are severely overweight wait until you feel comfortable doing some type of excersise. Eat protein first with all your meals then add the other things you will find out you wont need so much of the other things. Anyone want to add anything else I forgot then please do. I am not being smart just trying to answer all the questions in one place.
  6. Yeah you have to be careful cause to much protein will cause you not to lose or will make you gain too. But typically I eat only about 3 to 4 oz of food since my last fill.

    Craving Sugar!

Sugar free candy works for me. I get the dove sugarfree chocolates have a serving which is 5. Or I buy sugarfree hard candy. Most of the time it works well.
  8. O MMMM FING GGGGGG seems that since this has went on this long you all have no life. What ever I will help when I can, ignore when I want to, and I do have to say that I was not being mean when I said it. Seems maybe your bands have tightened your sense of humor too. Live on people it was just a statement.
  9. You band being too tight until evening doesnt sound good. What if you drink something hot? If that doesnt work I would definitely have some fluid removed. You need to be able to eat during the day. I think that would stop you from eating at night more also. Good luck

    Breakfast!

4 slices of turkey bacon, handful of cherry tomatoes, and a tblspoon of kraft mayo with olive oil. You may not be staying full because your body needs that fat factor to signal fullness. Just a little though. As a doctor explained to me that the dueodenum needs fat to signal the stomach that it is full. Adding a little fat to your diet in the morning can make a big difference in how hungry you get later on.
  12. Its not that Im tired of people asking questions its the repetition of the questions. If you search the forum you can find all the answers to any question that everyone keeps asking. Its just being lazy to not look to see if someone else posted the same question. I think I give enough to my fellow man every day of my life. If you are not hungry then that is great but you are probably one of the few that wont be. If you look at all the post op forum there are probably a million times posted HELP IM HUNGRY come on its not hard search the forums to find your answers.
  13. Now this is how I feel. Most of the post in these forums are repetitive over and over and over again with the same questions. It just gets a little much to read after a while when you keep answering the same questions over and over because people dont come up with new ideas or different things to post. Its like watchng the same movie over and over or reading the same book it gets to be ridiculous to keep reading and I think some just get sick of it and stop coming here. The success or failure of your band is up to you and no one else. Plain and simple. The ones that just keep asking the same old questions over and over need to learn how to search the forums for the answers. I for one am not staying around here much longer cause I get tired of answering the same questions every single day. I dont think its because they moved on I think this just gets old for real it does.
  14. liquids for four weeks. No way girl you can not do that it is usually only 14 days post op then on to soft foods. What is your doctor thinking.

    Cheating on the Band

If you are going to cheat it doesnt matter what weight loss surgery you have. If she is refering to not eating sweets with the by pass she still can she might have a reaction but she still can. Weight loss surgery is not a cure for obesity. Our minds are a cure for obesity. You can eat food not matter what surgery you have. If you have the by pass you can eat anything you want in time, if you have the lap band you can eat mostly anything you want also. Its all in how you percieve your surgery. I am a sugar addict one piece of candy leads to a whole bag no matter how tight my band ever will be chocolate will always go down it. You have to diet no matter what and weight loss surgery is only a tool. It wont make you break your bad habits if you dont want to. All I can say is if she thinks that way she is risking a whole lot more complications just to think she wont cheat because yes she will.
  17. I didnt say you woudnt find your sweet spot I said hunger will always be there because that is what our bodies are meant to do. When you are not full you stomach will be hungry. But are you hungry or just empty. When it growls you are hungry when its doesnt you are just empty. But you can not ever think you wont be hungry. You will you have to know how to control it.
  18. Listen you all have some misconception that you will not be hungry. That is a lie no matter if you have a 20cc band and it is filled all the way up. It just is not going to happen. Your stomach was not removed and the bottom works just fine. You are going to be hungry always yes always. That is never going to stop no matter how many fills you get and yes you are dieting. The lap band is a diet and if you think its not then you have been very misguided to the band. It is a forever and ever and ever and did I say forever a diet always and forever.
  19. It is a diet and I dont know why people get that misconception. You still have the same head they didnt remove that with the band. We all got fat because we can not control ourselves with food the band helps to fill you up quicker but it in no way prevents you from gaining your weight back if you do not STICK TO THE DIET YOU ARE GIVEN FOREVER FOREVER FOREVER AND DID I SAY FOREVER PEOPLE. I gained some weight after I quit smoking have I lost it NO AND YOU KNOW WHY BECAUSE I GOT OFF THE DIET. ITS FOREVER PEOPLE IT REALLY AND TRULY IS FOREVER NO KIDDING NO BEING SMART ABOUT IT. IT IS FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER. THANKS FOR POSTING THAT.
  20. You cant get fills every couple of months if you do what happens when your band is completely full. You only need a fill when you stop losing weight or are not maintaining your goal weight, are excessively hungry, or start gaining. You dont need a fill ever couple of months that is insane thinking. On another note I dont think the band can actually stop working we just stop doing what we did in the beginning thats all. We fall off the wagon just like we did before the band and stray just like we did on other diets. It is our make up. You have to try to get back on track and not eat every and anything.
  21. Get up Girl you are being a big baby lol. Your feeling pain is normal but you got to get up and move if you dont it aint gonna get no better. 5 min little walks can end you up with worse than pain. You can get blood clots and pneumonia. Get up and get moving.

    Instructions for a fill adjustment

I reported this thread in hopes that it will be removed. The starter of this thread is an idiot to even post such crap. You my friend have no right to post for someone how to fill your own band. I am a medical professional access porta caths every single day and would not in no way fill my own band. Do you think your surgeon would even touch you ever again if he knows you filled your own band. Do you think that if anything goes wrong while you are doing it that any medical professional would touch you knowing that you caused your own stupid problems. Get a life in Romania we have plenty of resouces in the US we dont have to fill our own ports. Now I am really pissed that this has went on this far. I hope it gets removed forever.

    Lack of Motivation

My only goal for today is drinking all my water. Thats a small start but anything is better than nothing. It is a struggle maybe this weekend I will attempt the tread mill. I just have to do it because I am otherwise unhappy. I know 70lbs is a lot but I still have 40 to go and I want it gone by summer. Lets do this thing we have too we didnt have surgery to be like this. Its just a set back and that is how I am looking at it. On we go.

    Lack of Motivation

Well I feel your pain as I am a year post op lost 70lbs and then nothing for the last 7 months. Im ready to pull my hair out have had fills but I mostly stick to the diet. The question I have for you is what do you like to eat because we have to establish that too. I dont like to excersie either and have two treadmills a bike and an ab lounger in my front bedroom sitting there collecting dust because I dont like to walk without anything to watch. So I keep making the excuse for my husband to buy me a tv to put in there and I will probably walk. Not. It aint going to happen. The only thing I can tell you is that maybe from this day forward we have to make each other accountable for the excersise part. I dont know how because we wont really know if the other is doing it or not but we have to start somewhere. Im willing to be your buddy if you want and help you if everyone is willing to help all of us struggling. I think once we see the scale moving again it will be a motivation enough. So lets start one day at a time and today the goal is to drink all our water. Thats todays goal. If you are ready then so am I. Lets do this and here is my email address if you want to email me iluvbears42@yahoo.com
