    Last minute doubts

Ok. I met Dr yesterday for the first time. Surgery less than 48 hours away. Have lost 12 lbs in 12 days. Not hard to do on liquids. But...am really getting nervous. So much info on the internet, good as well as bad. How do you change 50 years of bad eatting? How do you ignor a really bad sweet tooth? I worked in a big county jail and did medical intake on 100's of men who had destroyed their life with drugs and swore if they got out they would NEVER touch drugs again. They would finally get out and then they would be right back in there swearing NEVER AGAIN! I was very judgemental (inside myself, never to them) And I would wonder, why don't you just stop, you don't have to do drugs, you make a choice and you elected to do it again. They I tried dieting again. And I would tell myself Don't eat that. Dont. You don't want it. You dont need it. You said you weren't going to do it. And then I would eat it. And a second and a third. Why do I think this time will be different? Will I end up doing the worng thing again? Why is having this "tool" inside me going to help?

    Last minute doubts

I think I'm gonna be alright. Wasn't too sure for awhile. The gas pains just about did me in. Pain meds every 4 hours. Not sleeping, walked to get rid of the gas and caused the insisions to hurt. But....better today. And 16 lbs down in 17 days. Have been forse feeding myself fluids. Couldn't tolerate the heavy sweetness of the protein drinks. Finallly cut one with some 1% milk and got a few drinks down. Maybe on the mend. Ate a few bites of soup. More intake today then the last 4 together.
  3. Ok, Had surgery 34 hours ago. Having BAD gas pains from one side of abdomin to the other. Have not passed any gas, little bleching and NO bowel movements. Is this normal? I have been taking the hydrocodine elixer every 4 hours. Drinking fluids, walking more than I should. Taking gas-x. Noting seems to help.

    Fresh out of surgery

Had my surgery 7:00 AM today. Taking the hydrocodone exlir every 4 hours. Takes an hour to kick in. never takes all the pain away and wears off in about 2. Hurting pretty bad. Able to get up and walk every couple of hours but pain increases quite a bit. Incisions already showing alot of bruising. Would like to get another kind of pain med cause this doesn't seem to be cutting the pain. Also have used gas x and cold packs on incisions. Got up at 4:00 AM to get to surgery center and now it's almost 1:00 AM the next morning and haven't even been able to nap cause pain never is gone enough for me to relax. Wish I hadn't had surgeryon Friday because I would like to try a different type of med but the Dr doesn't do med refill on weekend. What other types of medications have people been on,, that worked.

    So excited!

If you put your mouse on someones ticker it will lead you to an outside link. I got mine from Myfittness.com and it allowed me to make it from a picture.
  7. Meeting Dr Adam Smith Tuesday, he will be doing my surgery on Friday Sept 23. Anyone on here had him as a Dr or go to FW True Results for their care? Would love some feedback on what to expect with him.
  8. 6 days till surgery.

  9. Wow, mandatory that you purchase your preop shakes from her office. I don't think thats legal or ethical. How sad. I'm using Total Lean shake from GNC. The premade one. ( Best I've found so far) It's suprising the range of calories, protien, and carbs that are in the different brands. I'm on 2 Protein shakes, 1 bowl of Soup for supper and sugar free Jello, sugar free pudding, v-8, yougurt (I don't eat) for 1 week and lost 10 lbs so far. So check your labels on those drinks.

    Lost 12lbs, can't tell!

Have lost 8 lbs with preop diet. No change in my scrubs yet but didn't expect it. Lost lot of weight 12 years ago on PhenFen and it took awhile to notice. But when I did I started pulling everything out of my closet and relized it was all feeling different. Hang in there. Also, exercise makes a bigger difference in the way things fit more then the weight loss. So.....I did a 10 minute victory dance this moring with the new weight loss. Good luck.
  14. Have lost 8 lbs. Small quiet victory yell.

  15. 4 th day of pre op diet. Following diet closely. Doing everything thing the way the nurse and Dr told me to. Have been having really bad stomach pain.......Oh........wait.....it's hunger pains. Hadn't felt them in so long I forgot what they were. LOL. 10 days till surgery!!
  16. See that your in central Texas. I'm just south of FW. Dr Adam Smith is doing my surgery on 23rd in FW. Do you think we could find a grief support for our loss of soda? :)

  17. My pre op diet....protein drinks for breakfast and lunch...any soup for dinner. Any sugar free jello, jello pudding. V8, cottage cheese (gross) or fat free yogurt. This is day 3. Surgery is Sept 23. Miss pepsi the most. Dr says NO carbonation again,,,,ever. Am a pepsiaholica. Found carmel calicum chews...yummy. So nervous,,,you can find so much positive about having surgery and just as much negative. I read they have stopped doing lab band in other countrys. Have read some Drs here have stopped doing them too. But then read about the sucess rate and just leaves me confussed.

    Facial & Body Hair??

No, not painful to have it done. Felt little zaps sometimes, having a Dr do it and he is using a cold laser. Red for about 2 hours after.
  19. Mmmmm....got that pizza tonight. Met with nutritionist, nurse and psychiatrist today. 6.5 hours now without pepsi, starting to feel the effects, head hurts. This is gonna be hard.

  20. 24 hours from liquid diet and what do I do? Go to the dentist and get work done so couldn't eat anything tonight. Great timeing. Should of waited till next week for the dentist and enjoyed that pepporoni pizza tonight. :)

  21. Surgery Sept 23. Scared to death. Just ate a jar of marshmellow cream. Don't worry, I used a small spoon and ate very slow.

  22. Surgery moved up to Sept 23. OMG. Am I ready for this? Feel like I'm at the front of the line for the rollar coster ride of my life. 50 hours away from liquid diet. Oh Lord am I really doing this. No more pepsi????

  25. HI, just starting the lap band journey. This topic is proberly in here somewhere but cant find it. I have had issues with hair loss in last year due to hormon issuse which is now under control. So, after lossing almost 1/2 thickness of hair I am really concerned about further hair loss. Used PhenFen 12 years ago and lost alot of hair then to. Does anyone experience any hair loss with diet changes.
