  1. Hi all, My surgery was 3 weeks ago today....I can go up and down stairs with ease.....I have a lap!!!! But the greatest is I can go off one of my high blood pressure meds!!! Yipee! This takes determination and resolve and some short term sacrifice but the rewards are worth it! Thanks for all the support! Tracy W.

    Pills vs Chewables

HI, I was just told I could take Viactive....which is a chewable soft like candy....they have chocolate and caramel and Walgreen's sells the generic....they are awsome for the calcium three times a day! I've heard some folks take gummy vitamins too! Tracy w

    Roll call

Hi Carmen, I will be 3 weeks out on Thurs. So I eat egg and chees for breakfast.....soup and crackers for lunch........fish and potatoe for dinner and greek yogurt or cottage cheese at nite.....of course I switch things up and this is not everyday. But I got on Livingstrong.com....my plate section. Then I track what I eat and if I need a boost of protein I will drink a muscle milk or something...but my goal everyday is not to drink the protein shake crap! My big challenge is to eat those chewable calcium 3 times a day....from the pit! When have you all been told we don't have to crush pills or take vitamins and such in chewable form? Help...I hate chewables! Tracy w

    Pain at top of Stomach

Hi, I didn't have a revision but.....I have the same pain....I am day 11 now and saw the surgeon on Fri. He said that it is from swelling and they some folks feel it and to consider myself lucky because I can tell when the food goes down. The swelling will go down and now that I'm on soft foods I feel it briefly every 3 or 4 bites....I'm trying to keep an eye on it...but the surgeon seemed VERY unconcerned...let me know what you find out! Tracy w.
  8. Hi all, I'm early in the healing process (surgery July 21st) but I'm checking out what everyone is saying on how to eat on a typical day after moving through food stages....how do you count your protein????? What I mean is some folks are saying "two meat balls" or 2 pieces of deli meat....how do you know how much protein is in each food, where do you get that info? Thanks so much, Tracy w.
  9. Hi all, I can't stand the protein shakes anymore....I'm looking for a lemonade tasting protein drink I can add to cold water and get about 20 gms per serving????? HELP! Tracy w.
  10. Hi, My surgery was last Thur.....first off this change in your life takes determination and resolve....because our emotions can be misleading for sure! The worst part for me was the gas also, my husband said they just kept giving me pain meds and within about 6 hours or so it was much less.....I can't remember much from that stage....after that no pain, no nausea. I was sleeved with five others on that day and the next day all five of us were sitting together waiting for our leak test and only one had been dealing with nausea. My advice is make sure you pee!!!!! I didn't go much on that next day and had to have a catheter for about a day and a half (at home) but since things...no problems....glad I did it! Tracy w.

    Counting protein?

Thanks guys...I'll check them out!!!! Tracy w.

    I'm home too!

Hi all, I got sleeved on Thurs and home on Fri...went very well, no nasea...they did 4 different leak tests and said that the chances of getting a leak is tiny. No problem with the liquids and pills so far. BUT after getting home I could not pee! So called surgeon and he said it had happened to him too....sometimes after having all the narcoticx your bladder can get lazy so I had to go to ER and get a catheter to have for a couple of days...boo hoo....it makes recovering a lot harder as far as moving around but the drinking is fine....so if you have trouble going in hospital...resolve it there!!!!! Thanks for all the prayers and now Im on the loosers bench! Tracy W.

    Sleeved on July 26th

Yeah for you...I was sleeved last Thurs and it gets better and better.....this is just a very small time in your whole life....keep your "chins" up! Tracy w.
  14. Hi all , I am 5 days post op....I had to have a catherter the nite after I returned home for about 48 hours due to narcotics at surgery time. Now I pee all the time...day and nite! No pain or fever. I was a often peeer before surgery but now I can't make it an hour at nite without getting up and going...not sure if the cathater being in is the problem or if drinking 50million ozs a day is it....I don't ever feel done if you know what I mean....any nurses...any ideas? 2), Diarrah....how long does this last...doesn't help with the above problem! Also causing butt problems....I usually take a natural Fiber pill that is a capsule that I could empty and add t some drink...crazy idea? 3) MRI's ....can we have them now? 4)Birthcontrol pills...I know they are not a effective for actual birth control but I also take them to control periods because of PCOS....I like only having a period 4 times a year! 5 Head ache.....dealing with a slight one since surgery...off and on...what do yo think? I have my 1st post op appt on Fri...just thought I'd ask the "other" experts! Thanks, Tracy w.

    I'm home too!

IT's OUT!!! The nurse showed me how and my hubby helped...yea...I feel great...no pain or meds and no nasea...yipee....onward! Thanks for the support...how are the rest of the Firecrackers doing? Tracy W.
  17. HI, I'm your fellow July 21st firecraker! Sleeved the same day...I'm doing well also! I did have to go and get a catherter which I'm minutes away from getting rid of....I needed it because sometimes the narcotics they give you after surgery, slows your bladder down and you can't pee!!! but my tummy is great...not a problem at all! Just wanted to say hi and let the loosing begin! Fellow July 21st gal Tracy W (bemabound)
  18. Bemabound

    This sucks!

Nina, I just was sleeved on Thurs (thanks for the support on the Firecrackers site), I know this part can be a challenge but you are almost there! Something everyone kept saying was..."are you excited!"...well no,,,that was not my primary thought...I told my husband on the way to the hospital that my thoughts are DETERMINATION and RESOLVE!!!!! That is what this takes.....set yourself like stone to power through and you will be succesful! Come on over to the loser bench with me! Tracy W.

    PCOS questions

HI all, I take Metformin for PCOS, I am not diabetic. So you all have diarrah as a side effect from the drug? And if so, were you able to stop the drug after getting sleeved? Thanks a lot, Tracy

    Surgery in two days!

Thanks guys! I'll be praying too for all of us this July...next year we will have wonderful updates to share! Tracy W.
  22. Hi all, You all have been very inspiring....especially the July Firecrackers! My thoughts are all over the place. I'm a believer in God so that part is beilieving for the best, the other part is trying not to go "there"! I have two beautiful daughters that I worked very hard to get from China and want to be here for them as their "first moms" could not. So I'm on day 2 of liquid diet (my surgeon has us do 3 days). I feel full of fluid but hungry at times, my brain keeps tricking me to go to the fridge...oh I can't eat that piece of left over steak! We are such creatures of habit and my brain has not caught up with reality! I wish I could do something else to fix this LIFE LONG battle but onward and upward...I want to dance at my girls weddings...not be in a wheel chair! I do wonder what kind of body I will have as I started this journey at over 400lbs....guess everyone may have to love a sharpey puppy! Part of me wants to be exicted about a new body and part of me is horrified to see what I will look like....if there is any prayers out there my surgery is Thurs...I would appreciate a few words for me! Thanks for listening, Tracy W.
  23. HI guys, What is the best sourse of biotin you have found and what form is it in and when after surgery can you take it???? Thanks, Tracy W.
  24. Howdy all,....wanted to send out best wishes to all who got sleeved this past week and speedy recovery to those who are coming up this week....including me on the 21st. Well, I've got most of my "food" and Vitamins and stuff...what an expense!!!! Along with all the school supplies I had to get...my girls start on Aug 8th! See ya on the loosers bench! Tracy W. (bema bound)
  25. Hi all, My hubby's surgery is a month after mine. He is a poker dealer and he is scheduled to go back to work after two weeks recovery. I'm concerned that he won't be able to get enough liquid ect down during the move from one table to another and at the half hour breaks they give them every 2 to 3 hours. He works a 10 hour nite, four nites a week. We don't think they will let him have a drink at the table during the dealing time.....what do you think....is it impossible???? Thanks, Tracy W.
