  1. I had the sleeve done in Mexico in 2011 and found out it was stretched. I've had regained some weight and have acid reflux. Even though a surgeon here in the U.S. said it was necessary my insurance denied the revision because of my bmi and because I never did the 6 month supervised diet. So I'm headed back to Mexico for a revision to mini bypass. I'm nervous but excited also.
  2. the mgb was $5800 and the rny will be $6400 (normally 6900). It's Dr. Illan in Tijuana.

    3rd times a charm!

I was told $6900 for the revision but Dr. took $500 off since I was coming back to him. He was supposed to have Dr. Illan do my mgb but he had an emergency that day and another Dr. stepped in to do my surgery. But this time I'm going to Dr. Illan. His patients really seem to love him and his staff is amazing to work with.
  4. I had the sleeve in 2011 and then got horrible acid reflux and the sleeve was stretched some. My insurance wouldn't pay for the revision to bypass so I got the mini gastric bypass but I'm one of the ones that didn't get rid of the reflux with that so now the reflux is even worse and insurance still won't pay to fix it so I'm going back to Mexico for my 3rd wls. I'm really not happy about that but I need the reflux gone! What I can tell you about a revision, for me anyway, after the sleeve I felt no pain and went back to work in a week. After the mgb I was sore and exhausted. I went back to work after 2 weeks but I was so tired. And the weight loss is a little slower than the first time.
  5. Sorry I never saw this post from you. I did pretty good weight wise but have had horrible acid reflux that the mgb was supposed to fix but for me it didn't. So here I am about to have a revision to full bypass because I can't take the reflux any longer.

    Surgery in Monterrey mexico

I had my plastic surgery in Monterrey but my wls in Tijuana. If you need a great plastic surgeon I can't highly enough recommend Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey, he is the best. They call him an artist for reason.

    NKCH/ Dr. Berghoff

How did your surgery go? My insurance denied me so I'm going back to Mexico for revision on Feb 3rd. Since you're from the KC area like me we should meet sometime and chat. Kinda like a support group lol. Are you part of a wls support group?

    3rd times a charm!

I had the sleeve and had a revision for acid reflux. I had to go to Mexico because insurance wouldn't pay and the Dr. recommended the mgb so I got that in 2016 and now I have reflux worse than ever. Guess what, insurance is refusing to pay for this one also so now I'm going back to Mexico for the rny. Had I known the mini wouldn't fix the reflux I never would have gotten it. Because here I am needing a 3rd surgery and having to pay cash, again. I know some people have the mini and it fixes the reflux but why risk it, I would go with the rny just to be safe.

    We will see

What surgery did you have first and what surgery did you have to fix things? I'm having surgery Feb 3rd to fix my acid reflux. I had the sleeve and got an mgb which they said would fix the reflux and now it's worse than ever and I have to get an rny.

    Third Revision...

I had the sleeve in Mexico in 2011 and then had a lot of acid reflux and found out my sleeve had stretched some. My insurance wouldn't pay for rny so I went back to Mexico in 2016 and was told to have the mgb. I've had even worse reflux than before and found out my esophageal sphincter doesn't close and that I need the rny to fix it. Insurance had denied me again so back to Mexico I go for revision on Feb. 3rd. Never in a million years dreamed I would need a 3rd surgery.

    FEBRUARY 2020 Surgery dates🌹❤️

Any surgery makes me a little nervous. I think this one is making me nervous because it's a second revision and I think it's a lot more complicated than the others.

Acid Reflux after SADI, SIPS, Loop-DS

I had the sleeve then had a revision to mgb due to reflux and I still have horrible reflux. Now I have to get a revision to full gastric bypass to get rid of the reflux. And of course insurance is refusing to pay for it.

    NKCH/ Dr. Berghoff

I just went to him to get my acid reflux fixed, he does the LINX and also weight loss surgery. He recommended a revision to full bypass for me but my insurance just denied me. He seems really nice and knowledgeable so I'm sure you'll be fine.

    Denied!

my previous employer had an exclusionary policy for bariatric surgery and there was no fighting it.
  16. bikerchick519

Sleeve to bypass weight loss concern

I thought they would do the LINX for me but the doctor said he took my case to a board of doctors internationally and they all said I need a full gastric bypass and not the linx. but of course my insurance has denied the bypass and the linx so I'll just have to keep suffering for now.
  17. He did. They even coded it as a surgery for acid reflux. But the insurance company says it is to fix a complication due to complications from weight loss surgery, which is not true at all. My insurance also said my doctor cannot call and do a peer to peer to fight for me, only I can do an appeal which the doctors offices think I cannot win just because of the way they are refusing everything.
  18. bikerchick519

    Fight, fight, fight and fight

How did you win the denial? I was just denied today and I'm super mad about it.
  19. It took bcbs of ks 2 weeks to deny me for a revision and my revision is for acid reflux.
  20. I just found out today I was denied for a revision because even though it's for GERD my insurance says the GERD is a complication from weight loss surgery and therefore they won't pay. I hate insurance!
  21. bikerchick519

Sleeve to bypass weight loss concern

is your insurance paying for the bypass? mine (bcbs of ks) just denied mine. they are saying the reflux is a complication of the prior weight loss surgery, which is not necessarily true.

Sleeve to bypass weight loss concern

I was told if you've had the sleeve, you don't have enough stomach to wrap around the esophagus so LNF isn't an option.

Sleeve to bypass weight loss concern

i just went through all the testing for GERD and was told the traditional acid reflux surgery isn't an option since most of my stomach was removed with the sleeve. I asked about the Linx surgery but was told the surgeon asked many other doctors and they all said I should have full bypass ( I already had the mini bypass to fix acid reflux but obviously that didn't work). My insurance just denied the surgery today so I'm looking at going back to Mexico, again.
  24. I had a sleeve revision to mini gastric bypass. But it didn't fix my acid reflux and now I need a revision to full gastric bypass because the reflux can't be helped with medication. They say my esophageal sphincter is not closing.
  25. I had the sleeve and after horrible reflux had the mini because I was told it would fix it. Reflux is worse than ever and now I need a full bypass. Super upset I have to have another surgery. I wish I would have just gotten the full bypass and not the mini but that's what my surgeon recommended. Waiting to see if insurance will pay for this revision, they denied me last time.
