To Tell Or Not To Tell Your Significant Other
I've been very picky about who to tell because people begin to give there opinion when no one asked for it. It is annoying and its a chain. you tell one person and half your fb friends will know by the end of the week. I dont care that people find out about me having the surgery after i've had it done.... but right now it is a sensitive subject and i really prefer to keep it between my close friends and family and soon my bf.

To Tell Or Not To Tell Your Significant Other
Congratulations on your surgery and your weight loss!!!! I'm afraid that will happen but its part of life... either he takes it or he leaves it and we have to think about ourselves because we need to love ourselves before loving others! I hope you and your guy can work things out! Good Luck!

Thank you. Your words are very inspirational! I am lucky to not have to do this out of pocket and I'm glad my family supports me. Thanks!

Endoscopy Question
I had both done at the procedure. They gave me orange juice and then my boyfriend picked me up. I do suggest you call out of work that day and you should definitely go under things way you wont feel anything. I dozed off speaking to the doctor while he was inserting the tube and all i remember was him pulling it out and saying all done. And then I went home and slept off whatever they gave me.

To Tell Or Not To Tell Your Significant Other
I guess I haven't been thinking realistically. Especially since i've been slacking on pre-op exams and stuff. I know I will tell him. and I thank all you guys for making me realize how stupid it would be and selfish to keep it to myself. My question should have really been HOW do you tell your significant other about your decision. I basically asked him if he would be comfortable with me doing the surgery. I've heard a lot of stories of relationships going south after surgery... That kinda scares me a bit.

To Tell Or Not To Tell Your Significant Other
Yes i can see this being extremely awkward and impossible to hide.

To Tell Or Not To Tell Your Significant Other
I think what bothers me is the fact that i am not close with his family. He tells them EVERYTHING and i am a little afraid that they will judge me about choosing surgery. (its okay to lie about shoes! As long as you lookk good in them) lol

Yes. I just put myself in his shoes. I definitely agree with you.

To Tell Or Not To Tell Your Significant Other
I'm not sure if this is wrong but I've been with my boyfriend for almost 5 years and he knows I've been looking into surgery but he doesn't know that I'm currently doing all the pre op exams for surgery. To be honest m sure he'll support me 100% but I've been thinking of telling him the day before the surgery or maybe not telling him at all. We dont live together. Anyone pre or post op facing or faced a similar situation. Please give me your opinion. Thanks!

Revision From Band To Sleeve With Cigna Insurance
To my knowledge most people need to get the psych eval. Its a simple procedure from what i've heard. Don't cancel that one, just try and see if you can find a private psychologist or psychiatrist that takes your insurance and has an opening sooner than July 30. That's what i did with one of my pre op exams. It was scheduled in May for Julyy 11 and i saw a different doctor May 23. Since you've had the surgery already i'm sure you don't need it again. Call Cigna and ask. Good Luck!!!

Any Sleevers Close To Long Island, Ny?
@Fallenangel2904 Thank you. What kind of insurance do you have? The endoscopy actually was an easy procedure. Even though it was time consuming compared to the others but it was not that bad. Don't be afraid. I was scared and the male nurse told me that all the rumors about it being painful is not true. It really wasn't painful at all. They were injecting something to relax me and all i remember is them telling me all done. It was cool!

Health First In Ny???
I have health first w/ Medicaid and was wondering if anyone else has it. If they need the 6-months letter and how long did it take for the insurance to approve the surgery. Thanks!

Did/will You Announce Your Surgery?
@fatiniowa. You need to tell someone especially your husband. You needed supporters. You can do this alone but it will be very difficult without someone to support you. And this surgery is not the easy way out! This is tough and only strong people can handle it. That's why everyone gets a psych evaluation at first. Remember your doing this for YOU. Your health! Your body! Your mind. Print out information on the surgery and sit your husband down or someone else you trust and educate them about the surgery and then explain that's what you want. You news family support hun! And all of us are and will always be here to support you. But you need someone to support you outside of here! Good luck hun!

Tell Us Where You're From!
Hey Everyone... I'm in Manhattan, Wash heightz.... I'm doing clearance exams at the moment i only need to meet with a pulmonary specialist and a psych evaluation. My doctor is Dr. Bagloo from Columbia Presbyterian. I have health first and I heard they are easy going when it comes to approval but Columbia Pres. told me I needed a 6-month letter so i'll just be patient until then!! Congrats to all the sleevers that got surgery done this past month!
