Your English is good. Welcome. Don't be scared. Just word of advice after surgery ans soon as they give you the OKAY to walk around... WALK WALK WALK all around the hospital halls. BELIEVE ME you will feel good once you start walking. Maybe 10 -15 minutes every other hour while your awake. When your discharged go to a mall or if its warm out walk for about 30-45... of course start slowly like 20 minutes and then increase it. It will help with your recuperation including the Gas. Good Luck and this is what we are ALL here for. SUPPORT. I find myslef in this site like 70% of my day lol.

Hiiii
My surgery was March 19
i am doing much better everyday.
Haven't gone back to work yet
Dying of boredom and happy i have no appetite or else i'd be in the fridge every 5 minutes.
I am 20 lbs down and I want to weight myself everyday but i am trying to just do it every Tuesday since my surgery date was on a Tuesday.
I am on Puree and it is frustrating and yucky so i'm sticking to Soups. I honestly thought it would be a breeze but its more of a challenge.
I can not wait to start exercising. I made a list of goals and NSV and rewards to help make time pass. Overall I'm just trying to be patient.

What is everyone's plan on when to weigh themselves for the first time ?
I weighed myself 2 days after getting out of the hospital. I was in total shock because i was 10lbs down. But i made a promise that I will only weight myself every week post surgery.
IE: I had surgery on Tuesday so I will only weigh myself on Tuesdays. Its so hard though lol

I just ate my first egg since being sleeved. Tomorrow is my two week follow up with my Dr. I figgure it was safe to try. I made it VERY soft and added a little mayo. It was like eating the inside of a deviled egg.
It went down pretty good. A little pressure in the middle of my chest a few times. Needless to say I didn't eat much and my dog enjoyed the majority of it.
As of today I've lost 20.5 lbs which includes my pre-op loss of 7 lbs. I'm extremely happy with the progress so far.
My dogs are my number 1 supporters when eating lol. I can give them whatever i can't chow down.

Listen.. Surgery first. Recover. A few months out depending on how you feel you make the decision that is best for you. For now my advice to you is too focus on yourself. You might get into something now that you might not want after the surgery. Your confidence and high self esteem will help you make much better decisions.
Good Luck and stay strong!

You are only two weeks out. It gets better and at some point you will be able to eat more. Besides social activity shouldn't be tied to food anyway. There's so many better ways to hang out with friends that sitting around chowing down. A good conversation with a good friend or a walk in the park or playing cards are great ways to hang out, but without food.< /p>
Yes. I agree with you. It just never crossed my mind that this was actually what i we did when there is so many other fun things we could do besides sitting down to eat. And when your with friends you tend to make the wrong food choices.

I'm almost 2 weeks post-op.
My bf and sister took me to a mall so that i can walk.
They were hungry and i didn't want to make them feel bad so i said hey let's go to Applebee's.
I ordered a Soup and a dish from the weigh-watchers menu. Ended up taking the entire dish home.
It was weird. To have no drink or no appetizer. I was killing time by using my phone while everyone finished eating.
The Soup filled me up but i can just imagine if this is how its going to be in the future i will have no social life
We all usually (we being friends) usually do dinner/drinks and then a movie or bowling or billiards, etc.
It never crossed my mind that part of "hangin out" with my friends was also stuffing our faces.

I think you will get a fever from the infection that forms when gastric juices leak out of the stomach. The infection could spread and lead to irritation, or failure, of other systems like the lipid system, the pulmonary system, the pancreatic system and / or other systems. By this time, you will probably have a septic infection and be in serious medical trouble and must treat the infection immediately in addition to the leak.. Disclaimer: I am not a doctor nor have I ever taken any medical classes. My comments are common knowledge I have read from prior posts on VST. If you even think you have a leak, get checked out, go to the ER or call your surgeon immediately. Do not let it go septic as infection will be much more difficult to treat above and beyond the original leak.
FIddleman, we are going to make you our honarary Latino! lol

At one point my Surgeon told me he refused to do the lap band because most of his pt's have been very unsuccessful.
I originally wanted the lap band for the whole year and a half of research i had made. When i finally met with someone who went into details face to face with each surgery i realized right then and there that the band was now a second option and the sleeve was # 1.
Reasons for not choosing the Band: Its irreversible. I thought i could lose the weight and take it off but i can't. I am not crazy about having a foreign object in my body for the rest of my life. Plus the band after so long can slip or come up or other consequences i said was not worth it.
I was a co-worker who has the band and she drinks soda like nothing and ice cream. It just goes right through the band and it doesn't affect her.
And she says she lost 100lbs and gained most of of it back.
Yes I was not crazy of getting part of my stomach cut out but at the end i realized the sleeve was more ideal.
(1 week and 1 day Post-op)

Hi, yes! I just had surgery on March 8, 2013 in the Dominican Republic. I was there for 1 week. I'm now back in NJ, and 2 weeks post-op.
I'm glad you started this thread!
Who was your Doctor in DR?
-
Good thing your farting. im 6 dyas post op and the nurses told me that the longer and noisier the better. The gas pains will slowly cease lol.
At least you guys are having fun lol good luck to you both!

I was told that Water with the Protein does not count as part of the amount of liquids your supposed to take daily.
Whats Victoza?
I'm 6 days post op and I am so confused with Protein and amount of Water , etc
I went into GNC and the girl that was helping me thank goodness she had the bypass done years ago and showed me what she used. Its called GNC total Lean shake. It has 25 grams of protein.
And i sip on water all day and my pee still comes out dark. I'm calling my doctors office later on to ask for some tips.
I hope you feel better!
Eat what you can until you feel better. Once your better get back on track but call your doc for advice. Good Luck!

I'm 5 days post op and i had crazy pain on one of incisions while driving. I'm not sure if it was the position i was sitting or it was because i was using my leg to brake and accelerate but dam it hurt like hell. Anyone gone through this?

Everyones journey is different. I know people who walked out of surgery like if they just woke up from bed ready to go out. I know people who found the first 4 weeks the easiest and others like myself the most challenging. AGAIN everyone's experience will be different and that is why this site s here for. So that we can SUPPORT each other ask questions and utilize the search bar so we can inform ourselves.
I've been looking at this surgery for over a year and wls in general for like 3 years and i can tell you that no matter how informed you are, you won't be 100% ready for what's coming and that is why i state that EVERY SINGLE PERSON IS DIFFERENT. and i do believe that as time goes on everything will get better. day 3 I was so sad and thinking wth did i just get myself into. I am almost 2 weeks post and even though it is a challenge i know that it will get better.
Just keep thinking positive!!! And do not compare yourself to anyone..
