Just wanted to thank everyone for their support it really helped me the last couple of days before surgery. I wasnt even as nervous as I thought I would be the day of the surgery and according to the surgeon everything went very smoothly and was in and out of surgery in 55minutes. However it was about 4 hrs before I was in the recovery room. At any case really excited about this journey! I can honestly say that it wouldn't of been the same for me without the support that I have received from everyone on here. Thanks again!

I wish someone would have told me that its easier to burb when you lean forward than letting it be regular. Also that it would burn when you pee after the catheter for a couple of days lol. Banded: Oct. 21st 2011

Thanks everyone! I got a lot more calmer the day of surgery and it was very smooth. I am on my 2nd day of recovery and feeling great no big issues with gas or anything thank god! Excited about loosing the weight!!!

Nope mine was thru the nose at the drs office...took about 5minutes and I was fully awake. The only thing they gave me was "afrin" with something on there to numb the throat...it wasn't that bad until they started blowing air into my stomach and I started gagging. Not too terrible but definitively dont want to do it again.

Me too! I get mine at 715am and Im frekin out...mostly because of the foley c word that I wont dare say.....

wish I knew the endoscopy was thru the nose...it wasnt that bad until they started pumping the air and I started gagging. Thank god they require you to fast for over 8hrs if not it would have been worse.

Since you are paying out of pocket it should be a lot faster...Im going thru my insurance and it took a little over 6months. I've seen some posts on here on individuals that pay their own way and end up getting their surgery within weeks. My only advise make sure you don't rush into it unless you are full prepared. Hello everyone, I've been hanging around the forum for awhile now and decided it was about time I asked some questions. I am scheduled for surgery Oct. 21st but I don't think its going to happen that day. I haven't heard from the surgeons office about any pre-op work or anything like that. I haven't even been instructed on a pre-surgery diet of any kind. I am starting to freak out because here I am reading about everyone and everything before surgery and mine isn't adding up. I am prepared to call the surgeons office tomorrow to deal with this just wanted to know if anyone can give me any advice or has experienced the same thing... so close yet so far.

Thank you that makes me feel better...that's how my surgeons office feels like...as if they don't tell unless you ask. I'm scheduled for my endoscopy tmrw and surgery Friday.

How old are you? I'm 26 and when decided I wanted this surgery I was 24 and I'm finally scheduled to get banded on Friday Oct. 21st. It seems like you have done your research like I did. I ran into the same situation with my psych evaluation. The Dr. stated I was too young but approved me anyway. You are going to have to be direct and firm. Tell him the research you've done and for how long if you haven't done so already. Best of luck!

lol got a little confused on who you were talking to. I did call today, the person I have been dealing with told me that yes I was supposed to be on a diet and briefly told me what to do she said the fact that I will be starting tomorrow doesn't really matter that she will make a note of it. I also asked her about that procedure (medical term slips my mind) where they run a camera thru your mouth to make sure you don't have any ulcers or issues with the mouth of your stomach, she apologized for not "realizing I hadn't had that done yet" and its scheduled for Tuesday Oct. 18th, 3 days before my surgery. I keep wondering what would of happened if I didn't call? am I still missing something else? These people are not making my anxiety jitters before my big day any better. I have already received approval from my insurance. Got clearance from my Dr., Psych. and Dietitian for those of you wondering. I have now been told of the pre-op diet and will start tomorrow 9 days before surgery. Anything else that they might have forgotten? Any other suggestions that I can take up with the Dr. on Tuesday? Congrats on the success! 2nd you dont need friends like that...ignore people that try to rain on your parade.
