    Healthy Eating for April Sleevers

I had a more consistent eating day today, day 8, but am still really ready to start mushies next Monday! Breakfast: 2 TBS Greek yogurt. 2.5 g. Lunch: Wheybolic Protein 1/2 scoop in 1/2 c. FF milk (I don't drink all of this), blended with some cherry flavoring. 20 g. Snack: 2 tsp. cream of chicken soup base in 1/2 c. low-sodium chicken broth. 1 g. Dinner: Like lunch. 20 g. As you can see, I have a long way to go to getting to my protein goal, but my surgeon told me just to take it at my own pace and not to stress out about it. I'm comfortable and I'm losing weight, so I guess that's good. Cheers! Meg
  2. I'm another one who is really, really ready to have a scrambled egg, but I have another week of liquids. :-) I'll make it. But someone else posted about FF refried Beans with FF sour cream and some FF cheese, and now I'm craving that. LOL All in good time. The fun of this is, it doesn't feel like a "have to." It just feels like something I'm going to enjoy when it's time to enjoy it. I never had that sort of control before. Cheers, all! Meg
  3. I second the pretty good flavor of the Wheybolic, only I have it in vanilla. It's very, very tolerable, to the point that I think I finally found a protein powder that I can use daily. Yay!
  4. Oh, no! I'm so sorry you had that additional stress and worry. I'm glad that you seem to be on the road to recovery now. I was sleeved on the 18th, as well, and everything is going okay. I had extremely high blood pressure postop, but they gave me clonidine and it was effective. I got to come home on Wednesday. So far, I've finally gotten most of the icky gas out of my tissues, have minimal incision pain, and have dropped 14 pounds since the morning right before surgery. You have to factor in that I'm tall (6'2") and started at 306, so I had/have a lot to lose, thus the surgery. Cons: I haven't gotten near my goals for Water or Protein yet, but my surgeon told me not to "stress out" about that--his exact words--so I'm not stressing. I have made a goal of getting 4 ounces in every hour that I'm awake, so that should bring me a lot closer to the water goal. Plus, happily, I found a Protein powder at GNC, the Wheybolic Plus, that I can tolerate. Other protein supplements, not so much. Hang in there! We April 18th-ers are on our way!!!!! Meg
  5. Hey Tiffy: I think you're doing great! I'm 6'2" (yeah, I'm a girl, LOL) and got sleeved last Monday, 4/18. The morning of surgery I was 306.5; this morning 294.8. I'm obviously WAY behind you in time/loss, but I would be especially interested in keeping in touch, both because our ideals are much closer together (my surgeon's goal is 190-200) and because I'm really interested in sizes lost versus weight, and you and I probably started out around the same size. :-) So you can be my information source. LOL It's nice to "meet" you, and we'll hope more tall gals give a shout out. Meg

    anesthesia

If you're talking about the fuzziness in my brain after surgery, it took about 4 days for that to go away entirely. If you're talking about the horrible squishy noises that my insides make when I turn over in bed, or the bubbly, "percolation" noises that occur when I change position, I'm still dealing with those, and those HURT! I read elsewhere on this forum that some of us are particularly sensitive in odd ways to the remaining CO2 in our bodies. I think my body must like the stuff, since it seems to be hanging on to it. Today is day 7 for me, and this is the first morning that I got out of bed without a corresponding instant pain in my shoulders or neck--a pain I get whenever I change position that goes away after a few minutes. I can hear and feel the gas percolating through my tissues (eww!), and I'm really ready for it to come out. Now that I really am feeling much better overall, I'm going to focus on getting as much walking in as I can to see if that doesn't help my body eliminate the excess gas. It's not intestinal gas, it's gas that's just trapped in the tissues of my abdominal cavity from the surgery. This too will "pass," if you'll pardon the pun, although not in the traditional way, and it will probably take longer. Hang in there! I'm with you! Meg
