  1. I have some really nice size 4 x and 5x casual golf pull over 3 button shirts and a pair of Carhart Jeans size 52 / 30 and i will have a several pairs of 50 / 30 dress pants if any male could use them let me know....

I can take some picts and email them to you if you would like... I am down to size 48 in the waist now and can still wear the 4x shirts but they are getting a bit large....

  2. I think you should make her put her money where her mouth is and up the bet to $1000.00 and see how serious she is...I would be willing to bet she wont make that bet because, she is not sure about it.. iIknow I woud be willing to bet I never regain my weight.

I am only 8 weeks out but, I can not eat 1/4 of what i was eating and i had already lost about 100 lbs in 2 years.... This last 140 is where the problem lies. I have always been able to lose 100 lbs but i have never been able to get past that mark or keep it off. I dont think i can eat enough now to sustain more than 240 lbs....even with my turtle slow metabolism....:D Good luck!

  3. Knowing I'll be alive to see my grandchildren grow up (barring an accident)

    Walking without as much pain

    Bending at the waist

Buying clothes because i have lost weight and not gained it...

And yes SEX! in your forties is better than when I was a teenager...:D:rolleyes::P

feeling strong again, being able to work like your going to accomplish something instead of feeling like you'll never get done..:D

  4. Diesel,

I my names Jim I too had alot of what your feeling before being on soft foods... Relax and let it pass.... Remember you are only eating liquids, try sugarfree popsicles to soothe you between meals or blended canned peaches & pears with cottage cheese.... It helped alot just blend them with some fruit juice no sugar added untill they are as smoothe as you need them....:D I did this until i was able to eat soft foods. I still lost 16 lbs before I went back to work 5 days after released from hospital...

  5. My Dr. said anything that I could suck through a straw was legal for me to have during full liquids. I was blending vegtable beef Soup, chili, and anthing else that i could make into a smooth liquid day 6 - 2 weeks, then thick pureed food from week 2 - week 4, then whole soft foods week 4 - day 50, now onto full foods....:D

    you did nothing wrong!

  6. Thanks these are some great ideas.

This evening I put a packet of Splenda and sprinkled some cinnamon in. That was good.

I assume at some point I will be able to have fresh vegetables. Mixing it with Hidden Valley Ranch would make a very healthy dip to serve with veggies.

This "healthy eating" is a whole new thing to me but I am catching on. LOL

Does anyone cook with it as in a hot dish?

    chicken Tika -

Yogurt mixed with curry seasoning coat small bite size pieces of skewered chicken then grill on your outdoor grill..... Mmmmm!

  7. try Isopure from GNC it's clear and thin like Water but still has 40 grams of protien in each bottle. If the taste is not what you like try mixing with no sugar added fruit juice and a shot or 2 of MIO Water Enhancer. I personally liked the green flavor the best i think it was watermelon or apple not sure...

I mixed it with juice from wal-mart with a shot of strawberry/watermelon MIO, this was the easiest way for me to get it all down in on day......Good luck

  8. You can be vague or general, or a combination of both. You can answer each individual question or put in paragraph form – I'm fine either way - I don't want to take too much of your time. Thank you again!

  9. I'm still in the beginning stages of this journey, but I've met with my surgeon at a round table info meeting, and I've been reading through these forums when i can...and I've decided it's definitely what i want to do. I just have a few specific questions re: food post op-

    1. What (if any) alcohol consumption is allowed? Will i ever be able to go wine tasting again? Or have a martini on a night out?

    2. Are carbonated bevs allowed? I'm a fan of diet soda, but i coukd live without it if need be...just curious.

    3. Are there any other "never again" foods/drinks post op?

    Thanks for your help :)

There is never a 100% no to any food but carbonated beverages seems to be very hard to tolerate because of the bloated feeling after drinking them... this goes for beer also, you should be able to have alcohol if you want i dont see why not?

  10. Very normal, you are only drinking fluids so they drain through you sleeve fairly fast. I suggest you get some sugar free popcicles they have been my crutch..

If you really hate the thick shakes try Isopure from GNC mixed with no sugar added fruit juice and a shot of MIO strawberry/watermelon drink enhancer...

This is the only way I could get it down you might like it as is, i did not.. it has 40grams of protien per bottle... plus it will help you get in some of your fluids... try the green one not sure if it apple or watermelon flavor...but its the best one...IMHO......

Good luck and welcome to the group...:D

  11. I myself had a very good result, My sleeve was by far the easiest recovery I have ever had from a surgery and I was back at my desk 5 days after surgery...

No complications and the weight is flying off I amd just about to go back for my six week appointment and i am down about 30lbs from preop weight...

I would say you will be able to tell how bad its going to be on the morning after surgery. I was up and dressed 5 minutes after they did my dye test.. In the car on my way home by 10:30am...

I slept the rest of that day and took it easy the next day, then sat through a 3 hour transformer movie the next day, doctor appointment on Monday and back to work the next Tuesday..

    good luck!

  12. Congratulations and welcome to the club!!!

    Hi Everybody!

I live in the Northern suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota. I had my surgery on 6-23-11 by Dr. Jeffrey Baker at Unity Hospital. He works out of Baker Bariatrics. He is a very skilled surgeon who has done many procedures and is really nice too! I highly recommend him. Plus my insurance covered him so that was a bonus! I am 6 weeks out and have lost 20 pounds so far (i had lost 20 before the surgery) so am down 40 pounds so far. Started at 243- at 203 this week. I had a 'mini stall' at week 4, but only lasted about 10 days. Now moving down again.

Overall, I have had no complications or problems that weren't expected. I have not had any nausea or vomiting since the surgery. My incisions healed well (can hardly see them now). I consider myself very lucky!!

I am 47, married, no kids except for my 9 year old Beagle, Brewster. Tonight I start in a beginning running class training for a 5K race in October. I have already been thru my closet and was able to give 2 big bags to the Lupus Foundation- I have lost 2 sizes already!

  13. Hi my Names Jim Boston I'm from Fort Smith and I was sleeved June 29, 2011 by Dr, Travis Goodnight @ Summit Medical Center In Van Buren, Arkansas. He was great! it was by far the Easiest surgery I have ever had. I was back at work in 5 days....

I have had very little problem mostly the psycological issues, learing curve. My brain was telling me to go look in the fridge, and to eat faster. I just had to learn to turn that stuff off... and it has gone pretty well so far...

I am currently about 357.5lbs preop weight was 387lbs down from a high weight of 474lbs in December of 2009

  14. Japan, that is where my son in law wants to go next, but my daughter doesn't....LOL Right now they are in Jacksonville Florida on the Naval Base. We did get to visit them in June, just went to Fla. for our vacation....LOL

Must be strange having a new "kid" in the house, especially one that isn't your own. Maybe she can join her husband soon in Japan.

Jim loved it at first, now he just wants to be state side....I wonder why? He got married in February hasn't seen his wife in 6-1/2 months???----;):(:D
