Forensikchic got a reaction from HopeFaith in How Much Are You Eating At One Year After Surgery?
I am 9.5 months out and I eat something like this:
    Breakfast:
8 oz of OJ with one scoop unflavored Protein OR a Muscle Milk banana Creme flavor--NOT BOTH
    10 oclock snack
two cracker cut cheddar cheese slices with two whole wheat ritz OR 1 tbls Peanut Butter and five mini nilla wafers --NOT BOTH
    Lunch:
Lean pocket (13 g of protein) OR leftover chicken fajita, beef or fish I had the night before- tuna salad---some type of meat at any rate.
    3 oclock snack-
8 oz of 2% or skim milk and Peanut Butter nilla wafers as above. (not together) i space them apart about 30 minutes.
    Dinner:
Talapia, grilled fajita chicken, roast, (some type of meat) and a few bites of veggies. Sometimes my hubby will make hamburger helper and i will eat a few bites of it but I usually have my meat separate from them.
    Snack:
I usually have another glass of milk and one cookie at night.
Some days I eat a few bbq Pork rinds if I want something salty or beef Jerky for snack. I also eat out some and I share with my husband or order a Soup. I just try to pick something with Protein that reheats well. I can make a dish last about 4 meals.

This sounds like fun so here goes.... I am 43, mother to an almost 21 year old son, an 18 year old son and a almost 14 year old daughter. I am happily married to my husband Dave. We have been married for almost 5 years now. My first husband was abusive and it took me 10 years to leave that codepenant relationship. I have yo-yo dieted for 20 years. Loosing up to 40 pounds two and three times, but always gaining it back and almost never getting under 170. Once, on weight watchers, I got to 163 but it was very short lived. I was back over 170 in short order. I reached my all time high of 236 about two years ago. After i got remarried we wanted a child together. After all the fertility treatments and hormones, my weight was at this all time high. I knew I had to try something new. We never got pregnant either.
I hosted 10 exchange students over the years and went to see one of them get married in Brazil last spring. I have not hosted since being remarried though it is something I want to continue to do as soon as I can. I am a forensic scientist in firearms and toolmarks and have been for 12 years. My first career was cytotechnology (we diagnose cancer on the cellular level) so I have a pretty good medical knowledge, but i only use it as a little hobby now. My husband calls me "Dr. My Wife" because family members are always calling me for advice and to diagnose their health issues. I am not a doctor, however. I love forensic science. I am about halfway through my Masters program in forensic science administration right now. I am still in disbelief most of the time that I have lost almost 60 pounds already and only have 40 to go!
I know I can loose 40, I have done that before but this time I feel confident I will not be gaining it back again! I am 5 months out next week. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Forensikchic got a reaction from NtvTxn in Seriously, you can't fix stupid
I was never a big soda fan to begin with although I drank it some. After surgery, I was told it was okay to drink if you shake the fizz out. Who wants flat cola? YUCK! I went caffeine free before surgery as I was told to do and I am almost two years out now and still dont drink caffeine. Occasionally I will have a few sips of sprite if its the only thing to drink but its a rare occurrence. I just dont care for the fizz and there is usually lemonade or some non fizzy caffeine free choice. Its a personal preference.
I dont understand people who get this surgery and set out to figure out when they can go back to their old ways. Why bother? All this talk about when can I have this and when can I have that. If you wanted to keep your old lifestyle then why not just stay fat and unhealthy? Why go through all the trouble of surgery just to trick the sleeve, eat bad stuff and gain the weight right back? Seems like a stupid choice to me. I eat a variety of foods but I try to keep in mind to eat my Protein first. I feel better when I do. I have been in maintenance now for almost a year. You have to embrace the surgery and use it as the tool it is.. to help you to get healthy and eat right not see how fast you can return to your old ways. Its not a miracle magic potion. Its a lifestyle CHANGE. That means you dont eat the same way you always did... or you will get what you always got... FAT. just sayin'

Forensikchic got a reaction from Kalimomof3 in Swimsuit Comparison Pics! Brave, I Know!
I know this is a brave move on my part but here goes.... The first pic is of me last spring in Brazil (far left) (234 lbs). I was there visiting for a wedding and this pic was taken by my brazilian family and I didnt know it would eventually end up on Facebook! I was so embarrassed by it. I got tagged in it and it went all over my page and everyone saw it before I could get it taken down. Anyways.....The second and third pics are of me at the beach last week (147 lbs). I have a funny tan line on my belly that we all thought was hilarious. I do think there is quite a bit of difference that nearly 90 pounds makes! I am no supermodel but I thought I looked decent in a bikini, my first one in 22 years! I wore five different ones, one for every day at the beach! I was only a little bit self conscious in them. A huge leap for me!

Forensikchic got a reaction from ToniRenae in Goal In One Year! With Video Slide Show Of The Journey!
I want to Celebrate and shout from the rooftops! I made my surgeons goal on my appt day! I didnt even know he had a goal for me and he turns to me and says, "Congratulations, you made goal!" I said what??? I made up an arbitrary goal of 135 because i remember weighing that in college. I had no idea what my goal was supposed to be... He said "see, your ideal weight is 138 and I weighed in at exactly 138! Wow.. I thought I had missed it by three pounds but it was so refreshing to say that I finally made A goal. I always fall short but not this time! My wonderful hubby made a great slideshow of the whole process, starting from our Brazil vacation spring of 2011 to now. Its been quite a ride!!!!! Woohooo... I cant believe I made my surgeons goal in exactly one year!!!!! Wooop! enjoy the show..

Forensikchic got a reaction from sunshyneqtie in 1200-1500 Calories...really?
This was me... I could not eat more than 300 or 400 calories in a day when I was just going on solids. It took me months to get to 500 and I am just now at 800 at 7 months out! If i eat solid Protein only, I cant eat that much. I hear a lot about the starvation mode, etc. but so far its been working for me. My metabolism is so slow that if I ate that much, I would gain for sure. At least thats what happened on Weight Watchers.
