  1. I gained 13 pounds from fluid and it took two weeks to come off. Then I had a kidney stone and was back in the hospital for all of week three on IV fluids again. I gained back to my original highest weight when I left the hospital that time. It took about a week for all the fluid to dissapate and for me to see that I had been losing weight all that time, it was just hiding under the fluid! BE PATIENT. That fluid weight will start dropping off, I promise. Your body is in shock and it may take a little bit for it to decide to let it go. Best wishes.
  2. I am so happy for you! I have found that old navy jeans are cut small for me. I am curvy and I cant wear the same size in old navy as I do in other jeans. Kind of like the opposite of you. It all depends on the cut. I have fat thighs and hips but a smaller waist. Old navy doesnt really work for me. They have little thighs! lol. I was so happy when I found a brand that really fit me well and in a smaller size! Yay for finding the right fit and cut for you!
  3. A while back someone posted a comeback they had used and it was about people who say its the easy way out and if they can lose 10 pounds on the liquid diet, why not just keep that up. Their reply was "can you hold your breath for one minute?"... okay, hold it for the rest of your life. Anyone can hold their breath for a short while, but its a little more difficult to do it long term. I thought this was a profound statement.
  4. Thanks! I am wearing a size 10 pair of khaki pants today! Woohooo! I now have 4 or 5 pairs of pants/jeans in a 10 and I am so happy I can wear them! Not all 10's fit, hell, not all 12's fit but there are some and I love wearing them. I almost cried this morning when I realized these khaki's are 10's! I am going to keep on keeping on and we will see where I end up!
  5. SW: 166.8 CW: 164.6 Easter GW: 154 Lbs. to lose by Easter: 10.6 I have lost about 2 pounds this week! Yay! Only about 10 and a half left to go before Easter. I really hope I can make it there without too many more stalls! I seem to stall more often and for longer the further i get out, just like my dr. said I would. I have ramped up my exercise some so I hope to be losing more in the next few weeks. good luck everyone!
  6. Well, Thomas, consider this....If you are going to be negative an unsupportive of my journey, please refrain from posting on any thread of mine. I hardly think that being the same weight for two week signifies the end of my journey and that my sleeve has reached its end. If you had read my post thoroughly, you would see where it talked about losing inches and pants size. Im sorry but I dont come to this board for someone to be a negative nellie and try to dash my dreams, but rather for support and encouragement. If you cant be supportive and encouraging, dont bother commenting. I am only 6.5 months out and according to my surgeon I will continue to lose for another 1.5 years! My tool is not near the end of its life by any means. I could understand your comment better if I was near the 1.5 or 2 year mark, but to say that to someone who is barely 6 months out, I find offensive. Consider how your comments might be perceived by the recipient before you post them next time.
  7. My husband is 6'2" and he recently lost about 60 pounds. He is hovering around 220 right now and he is not overweight. He is not super skinny either but certainly he is a healthy weight and looks great! He still has his love handles but he doesnt work out and is happy with this weight right now. When he was 280, he was at risk for heart attack, etc because he carries his weight in the middle. I hope this helps you know that 220 is a good weight for your height!
  8. I am bursting inside and I just have to tell someone, so why not the whole VST?? Today, I was sitting behind my desk and a pathologist from my work comes in. She was asking about a bullet that she removed from a person. She and my boss were looking down at it and I rose from behind my desk to come over and see it too and she looked up at me and in mid sentence exclaimed "OH MY GOD!!!!!!" really loudly and I said oh sh*t! what??? Is there something on me? She said, I am so sorry, but I just havent seen you in a while and I was completely taken aback. I was so surprised! I didnt realize I looked that different. After we talked about the evidence, she asked me how much I had lost and told me that if I stayed right where I am now, I would be perfect for the rest of my life. I said I have about 30 more I want to lose and she said well as far as I am concerned, you look like you are at a perfect weight. Congratulations. She is a brilliant doctor whom I respect so much and it just made my day to surprise her like that and make her scream out in the middle of a sentence! Horray for me!!!! Wow what an NSV! Wooohoooooo!
  9. The support groups are the first Monday of the month at 6pm where they give the seminars next door to foundation hospital on huebner. They are kinda boring so I want to get some people who were sleeved in there so we have something relevant to talk about.
  10. I would be willing to do this. I am almost 7 months out now SD- 8/8/2011. I am 43 years old and I am 5'4" and my starting weight was 234. I am now 166 for a total of 68 pounds lost so far. I had my surgery in San Antonio at BMI of Texas with Dr. Duperier. I was self pay.
  11. I have been a forensic scientist for 12 years now and I am the only girl in my department (firearms) so I have used the screenname for years. It fits me! I still love all things forensic. I just changed the spelling a bit for fun. My name is Tammi and one year we had a Tammy as a secretary so they renamed us Tammi Guns and Tammy Roses. I was called Tammiguns for a long time (kind of like tommygun) I hated it and I much prefer forensikchic. lol.
  12. SW: 166.8 CW: 166.3 Easter GW: 154 Lbs. to lose by Easter: 12.3 I am only down .5 pounds this week but I am loosing inches! I am going to keep on doing what I am doing and try to make this happen!
  13. @Megannadine- Too cool! I put that on my signature hoping to find another BMI of Texas sleeve sister or brother. Do you go to the support groups? I do and I would love to meet you there next time! We can all use all the support we can get. Nice to meet you! You are doing fabulous!
  14. Most of the jeans I am wearing now are 12's and they are getting very baggy however, not all 12s will fit?? I guess its the difference in the cut. I dont care. These jeans are Aura made by lady wrangler. They are super cute and fit my body shape like a glove. I have some 14's, 12's and now 10's in this same brand/style. LOVE THEM. I have a curvy figure like an hourglass so its kinda hard to find jeans to fit my hips and butt and not be gigantic in the waist. These are awesome for people with my build. Thanks women of wrangler! I cant wear a 10 in much else except a suit jacket. The dress pants are a little snug through the thighs/butt in a 10. I will wait patiently........ lol.
  15. As many of you know, my weight lately has been hanging around the same number. I broke into the 160's about 5 weeks ago and stayed at 169 for three weeks, then dropped to 166.5 and have been there for two. It just seems like this stall lasted longer and was immediately followed by another stall. I was feeling a little down yesterday when I realized it was time to measure. I measure every two weeks. Lo and Behold I am down 2 inches in the hips and one in the butt and also a half in my thighs! IN TWO WEEKS! No weight change either. Baffleing. I even measured twice. How can this be? I dont know but I will take it. I guess all that zumba and walking with a weighted vest is paying off. I will be smiling all the way to gym tonite! My big celebration for today is that I am wearing a size 10 jeans for the first time in 22 years or so. I havent been this small since before I got pregnant with my first child at the age of 22. WOW. Tears of joy. I may not be able to wear all size 10 jeans but by golly I am wearing these! They dont have a lot of spandex either. Very little in fact. I also bought a size 10 blazer and it fits well in the sleeves and all! OMG! I was a size 20 when I started this so I guess I am half my size! I am almost in single digits!!!!! WHAT???? Somebody help me to comprehend this! I am doing this! I love my sleeve!
  16. I was able to deduct mine as well. I paid 14200 for the surgery. It allowed me to put that down plus all my insurances premiums for the year, prescription copays, dr. copays, etc. You put ALL your out of pocket medical expenses on there and turbotax will subtract the 7.5% from it and deduct the rest from your tax bill. It helped lower my tax bill so I got more back but of course no where near dollar for dollar. I have never deducted medical expenses because normally they wouldnt be over the 7.5 percent but this surgery put it way over that. Worked out great for us!
  17. I can tell its you in both pictures. Your face shape is still the same only smaller. You look like the same person only the new is a smaller version. I think you will be just fine. I dont think there is a need to get a new passport. I am not going to get one and I plan on traveling next year. I think you can recognize my face despite the weightloss. Good luck and have a great time!
  18. I am quite sure you will make it under 200 by summer. You will probably make it to 20 really fast and have to set another goal. Wont that feel better than not making it??? Thats my motto. I set mine for less and less each time, still hoping to make one. I was 3 pounds shy this time, as I usually am. I am hoping to make it this time though for sure! My doc says the loss will slow down and try to incorporate that into my goal setting. Good luck to us! We can do it!
  19. Cassandra, I think 49 pounds in seven weeks seems to be a tad aggressive. I know when I first started challenges, I started at 20 pounds. I figured if I got there early, I would reset a new goal for more. I have not made my goal on any of them so far. The most I lost in one 7 week session was 18 pounds in the beginning. Maybe you should consider starting out with a 25 pound goal and if you reach it early, then set another 10 pound one if there is time permitting. The last thing you want to do is set a goal that you dont have enough time to reach and then you feel discouraged. I hope I am not coming across as negative nelly. If it were me I would start my first challenge with a little less aggressive goal. jmho. I will of course be here to cheer you on no matter what your goal is! We can do this! You are gonna rock that sleeve!
  20. I put my SW as my starting weight of the challenge, my overall starting weight was 234. I dont know what you guys want to use there but either is ok by me.
  21. I just posted the Easter challenge... I will see if Irene will pin it for us.
  22. Okay peeps, we talked about it on the Valentines Day thread so I thought I would officially start the Easter challenge. Its approximately 7 weeks away so keep that in mind when you set your goals. The further I have gotten the smaller my goals so I dont get discouraged. The first 2 were 20 pounds each, the Valentines one was 15 so this one I am going to set at 13. I haven't made a goal yet but I only fall a few pounds short. Anyways, here are my stats for this one... SN: Forensikchic SW: 166.8 GW: 154 CW: 166.8 lbs to lose 12.8 Everybody join in and lets motivate each other! We can do this!!!!
  23. Well, I have a small gain for today but I am not changing my ticker either since this is not my normal weigh in day. I lost 12 pounds during the challenge instead of my goal of 15. I got close and that certainly counts! I weighed in this morning at 166.9. Aunt Flo paid a visit last night and so I think that might have something to do with it. I feel bloated and crampy. I am going to celebrate all 12 pounds! Yay! I got within three pounds of my goal and I am happy with that! Now for the Easter challenge! Lets go peeps, we can do this!!!!!
  24. Its by simply orange. It tastes really good with the protien powder in. You wouldnt know it at all. I think their are other brands too but that is the brand I get.
