  1. Im not doing so well either. AF came to visit yesterday and brought two pounds with her! I am back down one of those pounds but still a net gain of 1.2 so far this week. I am not officially weighing in until Sunday to put my final results for this challenge but It is not looking good. Was going for 154 and I am at 157.6 right now. I have lost some inches in the last two weeks though so that helps my feelings. I was soooo hoping to finally make a challenge! I am so close! Just about 3 more pounds. Its only Tuesday so maybe with AF leaving at the end of the week, she will take a lot more than she brought! good luck everyone in this final week of the challenge. Tammi
  2. Thank you all so much. My profile pic here is from my engagement picture in 2007. I weighed about 175-180 then. I had just lost about 40 pounds for the 20th time and of course I gained all that back and then about 30 more. Thanks to the sleeve, I am smaller than I have been in 20 years! I dont remember my face being this thin and i have 20 pounds to go! I wonder if it will look weird then? I am not going to worry about it. I am enjoying my success and I am looking forward to the final product! I will make the most out of it. Thanks everyone for the very kind words! I appreciate it greatly!
  3. Here is a pic of my face at the end of last March. Here is my face today. I have lost around 78 pounds. I hardly recognize me! lol. Just having a feel good moment.
  4. Thanks so much. I appreciate that.
  5. Thanks so much everyone. I think I will just leave the haters be! I still enjoy reading the boards and helping other sleevers! My sister will be joining the ranks June 1st! I will be commenting and helping her too. She lives about a 1000 miles from me and we plan to use the boards to yap about being sleeved. I dont think I could stay away long anyway! lol. I really enjoy this board.
  6. Somehow its comforting to know that I am not the only one that this seems to be happening to. I am glad for the network of friends I have made and for all the great tips and advice I have received. I am grateful and it has been the reason I am a success!
  7. yes it was your post Brandi! There have been some since then but that was the major one that stuck in my crawl if you know what I mean. Im glad I could be of some help to you in your journey.
  8. It really helped that there are some people who enjoy my posts and want me to continue sharing my experiences. I really relied on posters with lots of experience, namely Tiffikins in the beginning. I was sad when she left for a while to be with her beautiful sweet daughter Tatum. I am glad to see her back here and there. I look forward to reading what she and others that are further out then me have to say. When I need advice, someone further out has always helped me and I want to help others all I can. I guess you guys are right, Its a forum and its to be expected. I will ignore the bad and keep yapping about what works for me! LOL Thanks for the encouragement.
  9. Hey Liliana! I didnt know you had become a moderator! Too cool! Anyway, to the point...the last few things I have posted that are my experience to others have been pointed out as being wrong. One such said I was misinformed and making assumptions. I wrote that OP in a message to make sure I had the details correct and stood by my post but I wanted to make sure that she understood my intentions were good and I didnt want there to be a misunderstanding. I was just getting the impression that people were not really wanting to hear what my experience was if they are going to call me out on it. I am not in the practice of doing this. I am sure my experience is not just like everyone elses. Maybe some folks can eat 1000 calories a day at two weeks out, who knows? I just dont want to see some new people try that and get into trouble with leaks, etc when MOST people's surgeons dont have anything like that in their plans. Its up to the poster to take all the ideas and suggestions and use the ones they think will help them in their personal journey. We are all entitled to share our experience and knowledge without being called out or argued with. Thats all I am saying. PDXMAN--- I have seen them do this to you also and I was sure you would understand where I am coming from. Thanks for listening to me rant about this.
  10. I have been commenting on these boards since August and lately it seems my comments and suggestions have been under attack. I dont understand this at all. I will answer the original poster to the best of my ability and share my experience, what I can eat, how much, etc. and inevitably someone will come back with rude comments, say I am misinformed? etc. How am I misinformed about my own journey? Anyways, I have about decided not to try to help anyone else because of this. I dont tell other people that they are wrong in their opinions. My opinion may be different but I dont call others out on theirs and argue with them about it. My experience is my own and I beleive I know what it is! I dont pad things, I just tell it like it is and what I do for me. It may not work for everyone but I thought that was the idea of a board, to get several peoples help and opinions and experience. Geez. If it happens again, I will be forced to stop commenting at all. Its sad that it has come to this because I used to love this board and it was a great help to me in the beginning. I was hoping to pay it forward.
  11. I can offer this.. slowly get off caffeine. If you just abruptly stop the headache lasts for days and is just awful. I wish I had went to half caff coffee and then decaf before I just quit cold turkey. I agree with the above poster. Have ready made protein drinks ready for your drive into work or whatever and keep crystal light or water with you always, stay busy as you can and go to bed early. The going to bed early helped me when I quit smoking too. That way you dont have to sit around being hungry. My surgeons diet allowed me to have a small protion of lean meat and one non starchy veggie for dinner. I ate it like a hostage when I got home from work, waited till about 8pm and went to bed. It worked for me. HTH.
  12. Hey Dorrie, I will look at your MFP and see if anything jumps out at me. I eat pretty normal and when I say normal, I mean I have some peanut m'ms and cheetos occasionally. LOL. I am by far not perfect at this. I try to drink a protein drink whether it be muscle milk ready made or unflavored in OJ in the morning. I didnt have any this morning but most mornings I do. I eat peanut butter with mini nilla wafers around 10 or cheese and ritz crackers... not many crackers or wafers.. like 5 mini wafers or 2 ritz. I have been trying to lower my carbs down some so I could get out of the constant stalling too. It has worked for me. I try to keep my carbs down under 40 but definately under 70. I dont worry about the calories and I have yet to go over 850-900. I mostly stay around 750-800 but Its not because I try to. I dont eat lot of snacky things if i want my carbs to be low. Seems like all the snacks I like are carby. I eat roast beef lunch meat or ham and cheese for lunch a lot or sometimes chicken. I eat fish or chicken for dinner a lot. I buy the fajita meat already done andn just add some mixed peppers with it and its really good. I bought the three pack of peppers and sliced them and froze them so I can just get out a few to go with my fajita chicken or beef. Its super good and very low in carbs.. like zero. I hope this helps. I also walk 2-3 miles about 5 days a week and do zumba twice a week. You can look at my MFP which I usually update during the week if you want to. My username is the same as here. HTH Tammi
  13. I was really tired for the first two months or so. I had some small stalls as my body adjusted to losing. It takes time for your body to decide to let it go. Its hard to be patient but if you hang in there, you will love your sleeve and the weight will find its way off. I am at the stairstep stage now at nearly 8 months out. I stay the same sometimes for a couple of weeks and then I will drop again. Its when my body decides its okay for it to let it go. You cannot control that. I dont believe in the eat a 1000 calories a day thing. That is still impossible for me to do if I am going to eat right. I cant hold that much. I have done just fine and I have lost nearly 80 pounds so far. I just keep keeping on, even if I dont lose for a week or so. I had a kidney stone and 2 weeks post op and was operated on again to put a stent in my kidney. The Fluid they pushed all week made me gain all the weight I had lost plus some. it took another week or two to get that off so I started a month behind the curve. I didnt let it get me down. I just keep on keeping on. Good luck and dont worry so much about it. Do your best and dont try to get in a whole bunch of calories.. thats my advice.
  14. My starting weight was 234 also! I am 7 1/2 months out and I am now 156! Woohooo! I am 5'4" tall so my goal weight is 135. What is yours? Whatever you set it at, you can do it! Dont sell yourself short! I love my sleeve!~
  15. Yay for Lynda!!!!! So happy for you! I had a great weekend losing a whopping 3 pounds! Holy moly! but its not time to update for this week yet. I will be reflecting it in my ticker though! We are rocking our sleeves... So happy for you Lynda!
  16. SW: 166.8 CW: 159 Easter GW: 154 Lbs. to lose by Easter: 5 I lost 1.8 this week! I finally got into the 150's!!!! Woohoooo! Today's weight marks 75 pounds down! I am thrilled to only have 24 pounds to go! Only 5 left to get to my Easter goal. I dont know if I will make it but we have two weeks left so there is a chance and the closer I get the better I feel. I at least know that I will get really close if I dont make it. I am hoping to make at least one challenge. I have always gotten close and been okay with it but it sure would be sweet to actually make one! I hope everyone is doing well on their journey! Two more weeks girls! We got this!
  17. Thanks for the encouragement! Sorry If I hijacked your post Thinoneday! I didnt meant to!
  18. There is no misinformation in my post and I am stating my opinion based on the information I received from the OP and I was responding to the original poster. We all have a right to post responses based on our experience that we think might help the person. Many of the responders share my experience as well. The diversity of this board is what keeps it interesting. Not everyone has the same experience as you had either. You dont have to agree with my opinion but it would be nice if you respected it.
  19. Just came back from therapy with a plan on how to get my son motivated and set some REAL boundaries with him and his behavior. I feel better already.
  20. Girl, I feel your pain. I have a pain in the ass son too who is 18, supposed to be graduating in two months and wont do anything he is supposed to. We are having a come to Jesus meeting today and he has no idea I am taking his car away. I can only imagine what is going to happen when that does. I am working on a 25 page term paper for grad school that I want to finish so I dont have that Major stress on me too. I have lots of work that needs doing here at work but I feel overwhelmed and have noticed that today I keep turning to food. I am lucky I really dont have anything that harmful here at my desk. Everytime I reach for food, I realize what I am doing and I stop.. Thanks sleevey for letting me realize what I am doing BEFORE I do it. I am sorry you are having a tough time too. We can get through this together and support each other. PM me and we can talk about it rather than keeping on eating until you slime. I am here for you. Tammi
  21. That little chest pain was my full signal and I also got it when I drank too much or too quickly. I would say I got it for about the first 2 or 3 months, maybe more. At seven months out I dont get it now and I havent in a long while. My new full is burbing constantly and just feeling very full. The beginning though was that little chest pain. I hated it but in the scheme of things, its not so bad as puking or something like that. Hang in there.. it will diminish over time..take smaller sips further in between to make it lessen.
  22. If you can eat 1200 to 1500 calories of protein foods at two weeks out, then something has to be wrong. Lean protein is not that high in calories. If you eat protein first, I dont see how you can hold any veggies or carbs at that early out. I was still on liquids at this point. I am surprised you dont have a leak if you are able to eat whole foods like that at this early point. Sure, you could drink your calories but what was the point of having surgery if you are just going to get the calories in any way you can? I understand that at a bigger BMI you might need more to sustain your energy but how to get it? Your sleeve is the same size no matter how much you weigh! How can you be expected to hold more than the rest of us? I say just eat lean protein until you are full and dont worry about the calories. Supplement with a protein shake or two so you have some energy and just do your best.
  23. This was me... I could not eat more than 300 or 400 calories in a day when I was just going on solids. It took me months to get to 500 and I am just now at 800 at 7 months out! If i eat solid protein only, I cant eat that much. I hear a lot about the starvation mode, etc. but so far its been working for me. My metabolism is so slow that if I ate that much, I would gain for sure. At least thats what happened on Weight Watchers.
  24. I am 7 months out and I eat around 800 a day now.. When I was where you are, I could barely eat 500 calories a day.. There is no way in the world I would "try" to up my calories... the whole point of the surgery was for restriction. Why try to cram all that food in there? It will naturally increase as the swelling goes down. I dont think we need to have a calorie goal to hit. My surgeon didnt give me one. He said eat protein first and only if you can hold more, eat a little veggies. His main rule was STOP when you are full even if you only eat a couple of bites. Do not overeat your sleeve... it defeats the purpose. You are not gonna lose what you want to if you eat that many calories, especially early out. Please dont do that to yourself. Just my two cents.
  25. Dont you mean 135? I think its a little late to be declaring 150 as your goal! LOL. I would consider myself there. Just get on the scale and breathe out! Tada! You are at goal, my friend! Congrats!
