  1. I over ate for the first time today. It's been over a month since I did something like this, so I am impressed that I could wait this long. I used to be a binge eater. Tonight, the baby and I made pizzas with tortillas, sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. I cut mine into 1/8ths and attempted to eat 3 slices. Halfway through the second I felt a pain in my chest. It went away after a minute so "Bingerella" here decided to keep going. OMG! I will try my best to NEVER do that again.

Two more bites and I had a constant painful lump in my chest. I wanted to throw up or beat on my chest like a crazy person. The last bite I spit out on my plate because I couldn't bear the thought of swallowing it.

So for those who were concerned that they may binge again with the sleeve, let me tell you that the physical deterrent is enough for me!

  2. My first step was to call the flex spending company. They said the procedure was covered and they had no problem with me using it in Mexico. My card looks just like a Visa, says Visa, and they used it at the hospital, just like a Visa. Easy peasy. I did have to pay a 3% terminal fee for swiping the card, so I paid for that separately. No problem what so ever using the card.

My flex spending requires an itemized bill that includes the procedure preformed, Surgeon's name, total cost, etc.

    Good luck with your surgery!

Yippee! I am so glad it worked!

  3. Someone recommended the coffee mix and I have to say it is the only thing that I can tolerate. I loved Starbucks preWLS. I am able to do the nectar cappuchino flavor with Lactaide milk and SF Syrup or I can do Decaf coffee with the Atkins vanilla shakes and whatever flavor I want. The Atkins straight out of the box are kinda gross to me, but mixed with coffee they are pretty good.

I hope you find something that sits well!

  4. That is awesome!!!!

My NSV for today is that I took the baby to the Fall Festival. It was in a big field and I walked around for 45 minutes going to all the booths and seeing the games. When we got home she wanted to go for a walk. I was talking on the phone and didn't realize that we did 3 laps around the neighborhood! She was in her little car and I was walking.

Just a month ago, I couldn't make it around the neighborhood once without my back and knees screaming at me.

YAY for NSVs!!! It makes the stall a bit more bearable.

  5. I heard on the radio this week that the recent flooding impacted the pumpkin crops. A few years ago, there were problems with the pumpkin crops and you couldn't find canned pumpkin anywhere! Earlier this year Kroger had their cans on sale so I bought 20 cans. I thought I would never use that much, but I only have 7 cans left. LOL!

I have a bit of an addiction to pumpkin spice muffins. You can go to sparkrecipes.com and type in pumpkin and you will get all sorts of interesting ideas. Good luck!

  6. My incision above my belly button (largest cut) has been slow to heal. Most of it was healed except for a little spot on the end that was constantly scabbed over. Today I ran my hand over the scab and it lifted off but was still connected to something. I pulled it and I'll be darned if it wasn't at least 5-6 mms of thread in a loop! I pulled it tight and cut it off. It stings a bit but it already looks better.

While it is kinda gross to have my body spitting out stitches, it tells me that I am healing and that is a GOOD thing!

    Anyone else have mystery stitches?

  7. Everyone stalls around the 3 week mark. I'm experiencing the same thing. In fact, when I hit 3 weeks I had gained 4lbs. The 4lbs has come off but I haven't lost any more weight and probably won't for several days, from what I hear. However, I have lost 17lbs since surgery and I'm only just 3 weeks and two days out. Even if I don't lose a thing for another 3 weeks, 17lbs in six weeks is still 3lbs/week which is still accelerated weight loss. Did you take starting measurements? Try measuring again. You may still be losing inches if not pounds. Also try to think about how much better you feel, how you can get full on so little food, how you're not STARVING like on previous diets. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Hang in there girl.

Dramagirl28 you have such a great attitude about stalls. I am in one now too and I try to stay positive but sometimes I slip. I am going to come back to this post every week that I don't lose to remind myself to keep being positive. Thank you!

  8. I was lazy too. I'm not tracking calories yet. I am trying to focus on Protein rich foods (It's only day 2 for me on solid food - LOL!) I find that I do better when I focus on one thing at a time with the WLS.

You could certainly caramelize your own onions. The jam gives it that sweet flavor too. I wanted something fast (in case I didn't like it) and the onions would have taken a while. Plus the jam blended easily into the mix so I went with it. Oh and it said "roasted garlic" so I was drooling in the store. :)

I made the baby blueberry mini-muffins this morning and I put my quiches in the oven for a couple of minutes with her muffins. They heated up great! I heated 2 but could only eat 1 before my sleeve was full.

  9. Hmmm...that's a good question. I would call your Flex Account company and ask them if the card can be used out of the country. Make sure you write down the names of the people you talk to if they say it can be used. I paid for mine using a credit card. I called the company in advance and let them know I would be making a large purchase in MX. They said everything was fine and it was noted on my account. I got to MX and the card wouldn't work. Yolanda was very nice and we called the credit card company. It turned out they didn't do what they were supposed to. Since they had noted on my account that I called, everything went through a lot faster.

There was also an issue with the exchange rate. My credit card charges a fee for using the card outside the country. You may also want to check and see how the Flex card handles that.

  10. I have been stalled for 9 days, so I haven't been expecting much. This morning I tried to get my jeans on and they were super tight. I got them zipped but I looked like a blue sausage from the waist down.

I looked in the closet and I had picked up the wrong pair! The ones I was wearing were the size FOURTEEN version and not the 18/20s that I have been wearing.

I tried on some of my heels that I used to wear and my feet slipped into them with no pinching! My shoes didn't look like I was baking bread...THEY FIT!!

SAY WHAT?! The jeans were too uncomfortable to wear very long but they were on long enough to do the happy dance. I did wear the heels to work though. tongue.gif

  11. Oooh thanks y'all! I am taking Nexxium 20 mg once a day and I only seem to have breakthrough problems when I eat something acidic. Tomato sauce does this to me a lot. My mom said I could cut the acid with a little sugar in the sauce but I haven't tried it yet. Lemonade made me feel like I was on fire, but of course that is acid to the max. If I have a breakthrough I take Gaviscon but it is weird foaming in my mouth before I swallow it.

This is good information to have if my Nexxium stops working.

  12. In my former non-sleeved life, I used to love to get these decadent quiches from a bakery down the street from my office. My all-time favorite was caramelized onions and bacon. Mmmmm.

After reading the Eggface blog and doing some Googling I made my own version. If you are interested, here you go...

4 tbsp Roasted Garlic & Onion jam (found at Fresh Market in a jar)

3/4 c. freshly grated smoked swiss cheese (found at Fresh market as well)

    4 slices turkey bacon

    4 eggs

1/2 c. fat free half and half

black pepper - 4 twists of the grinder or to taste

    Non-stick cooking spray

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Cook the turkey (or regular) bacon in the microwave until crispy.

Crumble bacon into mixing bowl (I used my bullet to make crumbles)

Add all ingredients to the mixing bowl

Stir until the jam is dissolved and everything is blended

Spray the mini muffin pan with cooking spray

Spoon the mixture into the cups

    Bake for 30 minutes

Remove from oven and let cool

Once cool, pop out of tins and enjoy!

I think I will do a ham and cheese version later this weekend!

**I forgot to mention this makes 18 mini muffins**

  13. You are three days out so you are in a yucky phase right now. Everything feels wonky for a little while. It sounds like acid to me. I know I didn't start my Nexxium until day 5, but you may want to talk to your doc about when to start your meds.

The exact day that things get better different for everyone. I would say that the first 7 days was hard for me. I made a turn for the better day 5. Hold on!
