I finally hit 150 lbs lost

GO CINDY is more like it. Great job. You look wonderful and I know you must feel better!!
  2. I was banded July 26th (this year) and since then have had one small fill during surgery and 3 since. Although the fills I get seem to help curb my apetite for a couple weeks I'm still not in the green zone. I don't feel 'full'. I can eat anything as if I have no restrictions what so ever. I'm losing weight just fine due to eating alot healthier and excercise but I'm looking for the 'restriction' and for the hungies to go away for longer than only a couple of weeks. My doctor (or his help) keep scheduling me for every 4 weeks (although he had me come in after 2 last time) and thats where my frustration lies. I ask them for earlier appointments (after 2 or even 3 weeks) and they say they are booked. "We can only do so many fills a day". So, my last fill was 9/28 and here we are 10/10 and I'm getting the hungries again and my appointment isn't for 2 more weeks (and 2 days - lol) Am I being unresonable? Anyone else feeling the same frustration?

2.5 weeks out and no energy

Koodos to you for being able to walk 3 days after surgery. I was in too much pain (hernia surgery too) and wasn't able to get around much. Walking to the bathroom and back to the living room was enough for me to handle. I was off work for 2 weeks and when I went back to work I still didn't have my energy back. I've never been a good Vitamin taker and my doctor told me to get a good Multivitamin and some B12. I did just that and omg, what a difference. I've been taking them ever since. So my suggestion, try some vitamins!!

    FOOD CHOICES

Typical day for me: Breakfast: Albertston's Low Sugar Oatmeal or 1 cup Honey Nut Cheerios & 3/4 FF Milk. (Weekends would be 3 pieces of turkey bacon and 2 scrambled eggs). Lunch: salad or Grilled chicken and Salad Dinner: 4oz grilled or baked chicken breast or 6 oz. of talipia, flounder or cod, or 10 boiled shrimp (31/40) with a salad or french cut green Beans. I try to only snack one time a day but on the weekends it usually seems to happen twice. When I do it has been 16 Wheat Thins & 2 Wedges of Laughing Cow cheese Popcicle Fudgecicle.

    Feeling a little frustrated

I believe he said they were .5 cc and the last one was 1 cc.
  6. Great!! Congrats to you! I found this site a couple of weeks before my surgery and it was a BIG help to me even after my surgery. When I was unable to get ahold of my doctor or just wanted to know if something was 'normal' before calling my doctor this website and the people here were a god send to me. Good luck with your surgery, recovery and your new banded living!

Hi there. I did it this same way until I found www.myfitnesspal.com. It's free and takes alot less time!
  9. I agree with you chubbywithmuscles! Rachel, I feel for you. With your PA and nutritionist gone you must be feeling lost without your 'team'. I don't know if anything I say is going to make you feel better but I have read in this forum about different people's doctors pulling/drawing the previous Fluid to measure it and then doing their fill. I asked my doctor why he doesn't do that and he said when people draw the fluid up this can actually cause the band the move and when they put the fluid back in you won't have the same fit. Also, he said something like that can cause infection. I was banded 7/26 and have had 3 fills and have no restriction. I don't feel hungry in between meals which helps alot but I can eat anything and don't feel full. I hope things get better. Maybe you can ask for a different PA? Does your surgeon not do the fills? Thankfully mine does. I hope that doesn't change.
  10. Hi there. I was banded 7/26 and have had 3 fills since and I still don't notice any restriction. I have not had problems eating anything at all. Until I reach restriction what my fills have done for me is the loss of thinking about food all the time. I love not having those thoughts anymore. I don't snack often. I usually brush my teeth and that seems to help get rid of that feeling. When I do snack I have a Popcicle Fudge Pop (There are 40 calories in 1 serving of Fudgesicle sugar free Fudgesicles) or Wheat Thins w/ Laughing Cow cheese ( 2 wedges of LC Cheese 70 calories & 15 wheat thins 120 calories). I can't do string cheese. It seems to dry and tasteless to me. Once in awhile I have the sugar free pudding and regualar popcicles. Love to hear more things from people.

    Question

I've been taking Isotonix vitamins. I use the multivitamin, the Vit D w/ K2 (I'm deficient in Vit D) and the OPC-3. Love, love, love them!! I will soon be buying the Vitamin B by Isotonix.

    Softs after fills

Cream of Wheat is better for you? I enjoy Cream of Wheat more but how is it better? Thanks

    Softs after fills

Had my second fill today and my doctor tells me to have eat 'pudding consistancy' meals for the next 4 to 5 days. I'm just curious what some of you eat. I have oatmeal for breakfast and he doesn't want me to eat potatoes so I need some ideas what to do for lunch and dinner.

    Pre-Op Testing

Hi there. I was diagnosed with very low levels several months before being banded. I took 5,000 UI of Vitamin D for several weeks. I then moved to 2,000 UI of Vitamin D which seems to be working. I'm not trying to sell you but I find a conversation in here on some liquid Vitamins called Istonix. I started with the OPC-3 and was so impressed that I ordered and just began their Multivitamin and the VitaminD with K2. I'm very pleased with them,
  15. This topic cracks me up....because I can relate to it. I knew my husband ate fast but omg. I catch myself wanting to tell him "it's not a race" and all kinds of things. One BIG BIG thing I noticed is how much people TALK about food. Thats the biggest thing for me is how much people talk about food. How we base our holidays and everything around food.
  16. I agree with the others that have said it's your decision and one that should be made with your doctor. Not by some strangers that don't even know you. I was banded two months ago and today and I've lost 51 pounds. That 51 pounds means the world to me. I have only had 2 fills and am still working with my doctor to find the right restriction. Once you find that sweet spot you could be good for 6 months before you need another fill. But it involves communicating with your doctor, telling him where you are in your eating and are you getting hungry before you should etc. Talk to your doctor. No one wants you to do something you aren't comfortable with. Good luck in any decision you make so long as it is yours!!

    Vitamins & The Lap Band

I just set up a new account with Billy. Im interested in the Vitamin B but am concerned with the amount of B12 in it. It says 120 mcg and currently I'm taking the Bariatric Advantage that has 1000 mcg of B12.

    Newbie in Texas here!

Hi Kim! Congrats on your upcoming surgery!! I am from Fort Worth, Texas and was banded by Dr. Snow on 7/26th. I have lost 50 pounds and can't wait to get to 50 more!! You will love how the lap band helps you. You still have to eat the right things but it will help you with the amounts. Vitamins & The Lap Band

Ooh I see. I'm sorry about that. I will do that the next order then and start using him. I'm going to send the link for billy to my mother-in-law. I was telling her how much I enjoyed these and I think she may try them. Got the Multivitamin w/Iron and I am amazed at the taste!! Loving these vitamins!!

How many calories are you eating per day?

Anywhere from 600 to 1100. Average probably about 900. I have found myfitnesspal is an easy way to help keep track of the calories and my excersing. Makes me accountable and informed.

    Water Retention

I had spoken to my PCP and she said they were there to make me feel better so if I felt I didn't need them anymore I could stop talking them. Needless to say, I started back on them and since gaining the 11 and starting the meds again I was down 12 3 days later and 3 or 4 days after that I'm down another 8 pounds!

    Vitamins & The Lap Band

Okay Amanda, I purchased the OPC-3 and have been taking it for a week now. The taste is bland which is fine for me. No nasty taste. Can you describe the taste of the Adult Multivitamin? Thanks!
