  1. I just had my first labs since my surgery back in November. My cholesterol has gone up a bit and I'm a bit upset. I've lost over 30 pounds and I don't eat any of the study that I used to eat presurgery plus I exercise regularly. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes it has happen to me! I had a lot of blood work done I found out that I have hyperthyroidism that was caused my cholesterol to elevate.

  2. So has anyone else had this happen? I'm 6 weeks postop' date=' 51lbs down and halfway to goal. And for the last 4 days, all I can think about is sex. I could care less about food lately, just keep daydreaming about sex. Which is especially difficult since my husband deployed 2 weeks ago for a 9 month deployment.

I'm worried that my food addiction has transferred into the beginnings of what could be a sex addiction. (Wouldn't be the first time either. From 18-22 I was super skinny, and VERY sexually active. I was also addicted to shopping at the time) So I'm concerned that I'm going to turn to either sex or shopping and both would be detrimental to my marriage (we paid of all our debt, and our debt free since 2010). Anyone else have this happen post surgery?? Anyone have suggestions? Will it pass? Or will I just become more and more sexually frustrated the skinnier I get??!!! Thanks y'all!

You should be fine just use a sex toy until hubby comes back home.

  3. In northern va. My surgery was at 9 I was in revelry u til 4. Woke extremely hungry but the urad wouldn't let me eat until the doctor came. He didnt come until the next morning he told me I didn't have to take the leak test and I could eat. I had two cups of chicken broth and one orange Jello and a cup of lemon crystal light. I will remember this forever. And that is be ause the nurse kept telling me I was the only one able to eat and walk for 20 mins or more. I litteray felt like I hadn't had anything done. I thought it was because of my age and because I have never been a lazy person. I'm a do it your self type girl.

I would visit another surgeon office because that just don't sounds right! Did you pay out of pocket? Research that surgeon! Either he didn't know what he was doing or he didn't do anything at all.maybe he just took a look around inside and closed you back up. Something isn't right! What is the doctor full name what state did you have surgery at?

  4. Hey Katrina... I'm almost 7 months post op and I have the same problem... I can sure eat more and I don't throw up anymore if I overeat.. just get sick for a while and that's it !!! I'm actually nibbling all day.... It's driving me crazy.... I don't know if my stomach is a little stretched out... Are there any symptoms for that' date=' anyone?????[/quote']

I do the same thing I graze just to be sure that I dont over eat. But at the same time I count my calories.

  5. Katrina' date=' I just found this thread. Are you doing better?

For me my capacity to eat has definitely increased. One of the most effective tricks I know for making myself feel full is to add some roughage to my diet. So instead of eating just a piece of lunch meat, I'll roll it up in a lettuce leaf. Somehow that lettuce makes it feel like so much more without really adding any calories. Works with a piece of cheese too. And bacon.[/quote']

Hi! Yes I am doing well I had an appendix infection that was causing my pain. I didn't know that over time sleeves will expand a little. I will try that trick with the lettuce soon. I have notice white meat feel me up fast and holds me longer. It's a little rough going down but it's works. Thanks!

  6. I would think you are probably fine' date=' but get it checked for peace of mind. And perhaps you should up your calories to more than 800 a day. Not more than 4-6 oz in a sitting, but more calories a day could be why you are hungry.

I have to eat between 1400-2000 calories a day. Yeah I'm eating all day long.... but I worked my butt off to lose the weight, now I gotta work on keeping it up a bit (due to complications as my signature shows, I've not be a "normal" sleever and lost too much this last go around due to complications, so now I'm working at keeping my weight at 135, which I am below this week).

I know at one point in my journey, 800 calories wasn't doing it for me. Perhaps you are just at that stage, but I hope to read you are fine and all is good after getting it checked.

    Best of luck, always.[/quote']

Thank you I will post my out some! Maybe your right about upping my calories I will call my surgeon office in the morning as well.

  7. I'm 8 months out and sometimes have that same thought about being not as full. I seem to eat way more often and a little more than a 2 to 3 bites. More like 7 to 8 bites or so. But I do catch myself eating faster and drinking while eating also. I think as well that I need to eat more satisfying Protein and less carbs. As far as the pain you're having not sure about that. Once healed though and your 6 months out it should be very durable like the rest of your body. But have it checked out to put your mind at ease. keep us posted and good luck to you.

Thank you I will visit the ER in the Morning and let you know what's going on.

  8. I was under the impression that eating a little more asfter a while is normal. I thought I read somewhere that you should be limiting your portions to 4 oz no matter where you are in your journey' date=' otherwise you may stretch your sleeve. I mean, really, how much are you eating at a time? Also, do you feel hungry?

    -Kendra[/quote']

Ook. I am eating 5oz at a time.and don't feel full but I stop. I digest my meals quickly.I keep my calorie at 800 aday. I will feel hungry after an hour and a half after eating.

  9. Hello Everyone! I have a question: Well I am 6 mos out and now noticing that I am able to eat more and feel full a lot less. This change is driving me crazy!!! I have not gain any weight but I am worried that I might. Last week I was doing some strength exercise and lifting furniture and I felt a pain in my belly on the left side a few inches from my belly button and sometimes right above my belly button. I am up set thinking maybe I have damage my sleeve I miss my feeling of feeling full after 2 to 3 bites. Is it normal for my sleeve to grow maybe and how do I manage this problem? Also does any one know the website that has that 7 day diet test to see if your sleeve is still working? I will visit the ER tomorrow morning and I will keep you’ll updated.

  10. From reading this thread' date=' I am obviously not the only one having hunger pains. I am 7 days out from surgery. I drink Water when I get hunger pains between meals and sometimes that helps. I truly hope this constant nagging by my stomach does go away at some point. It's a terrible feeling.[/quote']

I was getting hunger pains too for a month and a half of being sleeved. We get those hunger pains because our stomach is healing it will get better with time and solid foods. The feeling would bother me at night just before bed it was hard for me to sleep so I would eat a light yogurt before bed.

  11. Hello' date=' I just finished reading your story & you know what you are not a loser or failure - I'm only a few days pre-op & there are minutes here & there that I still ask myself did I do the right thing & then I think to myself - I wanted to be healthy & be around for my daughter... We are all here to help each other & we all know we will have these moments but as long as you wake up tomorrow & get back on track then that's what counts... Be glad you have a sleeve of steel - lol - but you have to take control - what I found is very helpful is I downloaded 'my fitness pal' app on my iPhone & even though I'm just on liquids & yogurt ' etc it really helps - I will forever use it... Be encouraged not discourages... Everyone is here to help, I am so glad for this forum... Hope you have been encouraged...

Sent from my iPhone using VST[/quote']

Thank You so much! Yes I am back on track and feeling good again inside and out. I am back to losing butterthebean bean helps me out a lot I try to keep up with him on fitness pal lol everyone encouragement has help me out a lot. I'm in the 3 teens working harder to be in the 200's by October 19th my surgeon will be very proud of me because I started at 370 pre op took me to 366 after surgery 344 today 316 so I am trying and stay focused! Thanks again have a blessed day hun!

  12. Hi Katrina. Firstly' date=' if you're not doing it already, start logging your food on Myfitnesspal. You can friend me on there (username butterthebean) and others here will friend you as well. Nothing will help keep you honest like having everyone look at your food diary everyday. Secondly, what's your plan for exercise tomorrow? You need one if you don't already have one. If you're not comfortable on your treadmill at the moment because of its weight limit, get outside and walk. It's beautiful here outside right now (Houston), hopefully you're getting some good weather where you are.

And lastly, stop grazing. Don't eat anything for at least 3 hours after your previous meal. Get back to your Protein shakes. If cravings start to overtake you between meals, do 50 situps or jumping jacks instead. I promise you after that you will not be thinking about food. You need something to take your mind off of food. Exercise is excellent for this.

All you need is a little bit of progress in the right direction to light your fire and motivate you again. Good luck.[/quote']

Awesome I will add you I plan on getting on the treadmill in the morning on low speed. Walking outside always hurt my knees.

  13. I did a google search on "5 day pouch test" and read links from there. There are great ideas and instructions to get back on track. Maybe reading info there will help???? You can do this! I have a sugar addiction and its hard for the first few days but once you get the sugar outta your system its a little easier. Tomorrow is a new day and we are here for you (-:

Thanks luv I am about to check it out right now!!!!!

  14. The pain I went through' date=' and am going through, alone, will make me be very wary of eating anything not on the list! I never want to go through this again. All I care about is getting out of pain. If I never lose another pound, I don't even care. I have been so consumed with pain and discomfort that I can barely eat anything. Perhaps trying to remember how bad you felt after surgery might be the kick in the butt you are looking for. I know it will be for me! I wish I never had the surgery (less of a feeling than two days ago, though), but now that I have it, I'm stuck with it, and I intend to do whatever it takes to be healthy. Maybe thinking like that would help. Don't poison yourself by eating too much food...and crap.[/quote']

Sorry for the pain that you are having it will get better! I didn't have much of pain or my pain is tolerated. I'm so lucky to have this sleeve and I am not treating her right! Depression and stress takes over me sometimes.
