    Where are the 50s ???

After getting insurance approval on July 15th, I finally heard from my doctor that they were about 12 weeks out on surgery dates. I've switched drs, so they have to get new insurance approval, but it took less than a week last time. I'm hoping to hear that I have a date in late September or early October!

    September Sleevers

I received insurance approval July 15th. I waited and waited to hear from my WL surgeon. Finally, after leaving two messages with them, they called and told me that they are more than 12 weeks backed up on surgery and they were trying to figure out how to solve the problem. I started the process today with a different WL dr and hope to have my surgery within a month.

    Welcome everyone!

Now that I have been to KC Bariatrics, I wish that I had started there. I had to pay $150 for a consultation with Dr Fearing. KC wants $500 to cover their case managers, support groups, etc. and I just don't have that kind of money!

    Welcome everyone!

I am checking out that option now. KC Bariatrics has a seminar tonight and I am waiting for a call back from a lady there, then I want to call my insurance co, before I decide on tonights seminar.

    Welcome everyone!

The schedular at my WL dr called today, finally, and said their surgery dates are running about 12 weeks out right now. They didn't give me a date because they are trying to rearrange their schedule. *sigh*
  6. I finally got a call today from the scheduler at my WL dr, and she said they are running 12 weeks and are trying to rearrange things. I wish this would hurry up and get over!

    Welcome!

Hi Edie! I am also going through BCBS, Federal Employee Plan. From the time the insurance person at the weight loss center called to tell me that she had everything that was needed and was sending it to BCBS, until the day I received a letter in the mail from BCBS saying that I was approved, was less than one week! I also have been trying to get the surgery since 2008, although until I heard about the sleeve, I was going for the lapband. I'm just waiting for the scheduler to call and give me a date for surgery. She should call on Monday, I hope! Please keep us informed of your progress! Linda
  8. Neither my PCP nor my endocrinologist approved of my wls. I said it was a good thing that I didn't ask their opinion, huh? LOL. In fact my PCPs nurse gave me recommendations for the plastic surgery she said I would need. It's a shame that some medical professionals don't keep up with what's going on around them! BTW, I lived in Korea for a few months back in 1974. Ex husband-Army, but we never lived on base. We lived in E Tae Wan (sp?) and I loved it!

The date has finally (well almost) arrived! Good Luck and let us know how you're doing when you are able!

    Welcome everyone!

That is great! Keep up the good work! I can't wait until I get to that point. I want this surgery now! LOL. Not impatient at all, am I?

Looking for buddy in Kansas City!

I'm hoping for a return call from them tomorrow. I called them a week ago and then this last Thursday I left a voice message.

Looking for buddy in Kansas City!

No. Lisa the insurance lady called and said that they had received the approval and the next step is that I would hear from Megan (I think). She is the scheduler. I have waited 2 weeks. I WANT THIS DONE! LOL.
  13. Hi Linda, Nice to meet you! I'm also in my fifties...I had my surgery on May 23 of this year. The liquid diet isn't so bad, I was so excited about my surgery by the time I started it, I felt like I could do anything I needed to do. I look forward to hearing about how things are going with you. Robin

    Welcome!

Hi everybody! My name is Linda and I'm 55. I will be 56 about the time I am sleeved. Have you been sleeved yet or waiting? I'm hoping to hear from the doctor on Monday with the date of my surgery and find out when I see her and what bloodwork etc I need done prior to surgery. I am NOT looking forward to the 14 day liquid diet but I can do this!
  15. Keep up the good work! I'll be starting my 2 week pre-op diet in about 2 weeks. I'm so not looking forward to it, but I have a list of things to help me. My list is of things like this: Looking forward to driving without the steering wheel rubbing my belly. Being able to get in and out of the car without tilting the steering wheel. Swimming without wearing shorts. LOL. Going to the amusement park and fitting in the seats properly!
