    When swallowing tablets of medicine?

I had to take very large 'horse pills' immediately after my surgery due to a reaction from the blood pressure cuff. They told me it was fine to swallow them and to definitely not crush them. I was also told by the surgery center that any pill the size of your pinky fingernail was fine to swallow.

    What did your breast's do?

I went from a Lane Bryant size 42DDD to a Victoria's Secret size 34DD. I'm way smaller than I was look a little 'deflated' but I'm totally ok with that. Love wearing cute bras and panties from VS:)
  4. I'm thrilled to be able to wear a bikini. I've lost 115 lbs and feel pretty confident. I do have some wrinkles (sagging skin) but I'm loving how I look these days. Surgery was the best decision I've ever made:)
  5. These are some pics of my journey with some before and during photos. I've lost another 15-20 lbs since the middle photo was taken. I'm down a total of 115 lbs since Feb. 2015.
  6. What a great post! I'm absolutely thrilled for you. Such wonderful success. Congratulations!!

    No Wonder I Wasn’t Skinny!

We had potatoes with every meal. Mashed or just boiled for dinner (with real butter) - fried for lunch and breakfast. We ate toast and jam for snacks - sometimes twice a day and almost always before bed. Pop & chips every Friday night. Pie was common dessert or some type of homemade pudding made with whole milk. Sugary cereals were popular for weekday breakfasts in our house. I've had to relearn everything.
  8. I had bypass and a hernia repair. I had very little pain and the hernia repair wasn't noticeable at all in terms of pain.

    Clothing size

I started at size 22 and 296 lbs. I lost 40 lbs pre op and was wearing size 18. Since surgery 3 mos ago, I've lost another 50lbs (206 lbs) and am wearing 14/16 clothes from regular stores.
  10. I weigh myself everyday at the same time. My scale records my weight onto an app so I can see the graph of my weight loss over time. I started weighing myself during my med sup. weight loss and I really enjoy looking back at all the progressive made.

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I went to the gym and wasn't ashamed to undress and redress in the locker room for the first time ever. Oh- and I can almost wrap the gym towel all around me:)

Anthem Blue Cross - do you know?

I had to do 3 months of supervised weight loss. The length of time wasn't specified in my policy and my surgeon's office wanted to put me on 6 mos of med. supervised wl. I was rather upset by the delay and they then decided they would try 3 mos and submit to insurance and see if it would be approved. It was. I was delighted.

true confessions; how I invaded the "mens room"

I did that once in a pool changing room - while 8 months pregnant. There is no pretending to be a male while wearing a swimsuit. I was probably the most mortified I've ever been when a man came in and me why i was there.

    Best scale

We have a withings scale. I love the app that goes with it for tracking my weight, heart rate & food intake.

I lost 20 pounds in my first month. 40 before surgery so I'm at 60 total now:)

    Protein help

My protein goal is 100+ grams. Since I'm on the liquid phase right now, it's pretty easy to get. I'm a little worried about when I start the soft food stage next week. I'm thinking lots of fish and seafood...
  18. So exciting. Best wishes for a quick recovery!

    Finally!

So exciting! Wishing you the best of best luck.
  20. My day finally arrived and I was very nervous/anxious. I checked in at the hospital at 8am for an 11am surgery. Once they took me off to the OR, I don't remember much but my surgeon was there when I woke up and told me that everything went well. I was still very sleepy and woke up again later. Once I transferred to my room, I started to feel some nausea and discomfort. They gave me all the nausea medications they had and I felt much better. The pain pump was awesome and every time I pressed the button I would fall asleep I found walking to be very difficult the first day but I did it nonetheless. Getting up and down off the bed was my biggest challenge and I really depended on the nurses to help me out. Had a very dry mouth that first day and was eagerly awaiting my swallow test so I could have some Water. Luckily, the swallow test went well and I was allowed the tiniest bit of water ever each hour. I also had a hiatal hernia repair at the same and the surgeon said that went very well. I'm excited and hopeful that I will never have heartburn or reflux again. I was in a lot of discomfort when I got home from the hospital. I was hesitant to take my pain meds but once I did, I felt way better. Taking them on a schedule for the first few days is definitely the way to go. I was sure I wouldn't need them. I was very wrong. I've been walking at home and the 2 showers I've had have been so wonderful. I had a weird allergic reaction to the blood pressure cuff and my arm is all blistered and looks horrible. Hoping this goes away soon since it's bothering me more than the surgery. The bloating feeling is slowly going away and I'm back to my pre-surgery weight. Looking forward to that number dropping much more sleeping was really tough my first night at home. My second night (last night) was 100% better and that makes me very happy. It's so much worse when you can't sleep well. My day right now consists of drinking my water and my Protein - it's tough getting in 100+ grams. I only made it to 95 yesterday. I will try to do better today. Also taking the Vitamins requires a schedule. So much to learn about my new life.
  21. @@Susan317 -I didn't have a one week follow up - my first check up is at 3 weeks on March 4. I'm feeling pretty great. I had a strange reaction to the blood pressure cuff that caused me some distress and 2 different antibiotics to take for a week but it is clearing up. My incisions are itchy but healing nicely. I seem to be reacting a bit to the glue they used to close them up as well. Can't wait for the soft food stage:)

    Washington state

Dr. Sung was my surgeon. I had RNY on 2/10/15 and it went very well. My surgery was in Seattle instead of Issaquah since I had a hernia repair at the time and the thoracic dr. Operates in Seattle. I highly recommend Dr. Sung!

    Post op pain?

I'm one week post op and, as of yesterday, I only need pain meds right before bed. Feeling pretty good at this point but some positions bother me such as hunching over to do the dishes. I'm slow at walking and still have some swelling. Hoping to be 100% by next week. Now to get rid of this cold...
  24. I'm in the Seattle area as well.

    Just curious

I had RNY with hernia repair and I have six incisions. I only had my surgery on Tuesday and am still in the hospital. I haven't had a chance to look yet - I'm just going by what the nurses told me. **Now that I'm home from the hospital, I was able to count and I have 7 incisions.
