    September Sleevers Celebrate!

I was sleeved September 2, I'm feeling okay. I just got to come home yesterday, so I am glad to be home. They kept me longer then most patients with this procedure because I live 8 hours away from where I had my surgery. My worst was the first night out when I was in ICU, I thought I was going to die. Between the gas and the nausia I don't know which was worse. I want to wish all of you who had surgery, or are going to have sugery good luck.
  2. Well I have great news. I was sitting at work and the head surgeon on Hunington VA called me. My first thought was now what, I really thought he was going to tell me I could not have my surgery for some reason. Then he says to me can you be here tomorrow afternoon, I was like excuse me, and he said we have an opening for Thursday can you be here tomorrow afternoon. Well called mom and she was like lets go. So I am now running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I don't even now what I need to bring with me to the hospital, and tomorrow is all clear liquids. I had to go to my daughter's school and tell her. I don't even have time to be nervous I have to much to do. I actually screamed at work, good thing the boss was not there. Well I don't think I will have internet access at the hospital but will be bringing my lap top. Please everyone say a prayer for me. WOW I'm still in shock!!!:scared0::ohmy::biggrin0:
  3. Tomorrow is the day before my surgery, and I have to be on a clear liquid diet. The problem is I will be in the car almost all day. I picked up some of the sugar free gel snacks that are next to the pudding and they don't have to be refrigerated. Do you think this would be the same as jello. I just don't know what else I can drink on the road. Any suggestions?

clear liquid diet on the road

I'm allowed gelatin, but this stuff I bought just says gel and wanted to make sure it was the same as gelatin. I may just have to stop at a Kroger and buy the big pack of Jello that is cold.

I did even have to buy any of my supplies. I guess I will have to pick them up on the long ride home. Still not nervous, more excited then nervous. I'm sooo Happy!!!! Finally

    weight watchers anyone?

I have been going to WW for the last 4 weeks and have been losing about 2 lbs a week. I have to lose 16 lbs before my surgery. It costs me $12.00 a week which I really don't have the money for, but it is working for me. One of my friends who I met at our WLS Support groups is, or shall I say was going because she had her surgery like 2 years ago and feels she needs to be accountable, because she is falling of the wagon. She could not follow the points, and she could not eat all the veggies, and fruits they ask you to eat. She has not been the last couple of weeks so she may of quit. Good luck . I have my weigh in tonight, I always get so darn nervous on weigh in days, that I make myself sick.
  11. Doug, I'm sorry to hear about your Ex co-worker, when things like that happen it makes you realize that your life could be gone in a heartbeat. Not only a heart attack, but a car wreck, etc. Just live your life as each day was your last. You are doing a good thing by deciding on the sleeve. Man, I could not imagine dieing at work, that would really suck. Good luck on your journey. Let us know when you get your surgery date.

    Introducing myself... :)

April, I wish I could of had the surgery when I had a lower BMI, but back in those days they did not perform WLS, none that I knew about anyway. Good luck on your journey, and welcome to a wonderful support system.
  13. Hailey, welcome. My surgery is set for December 2, maybe your surgery date will be close to mine. Good luck, and best wishes.

    You're dream outfit

lol, You are to funny. I may have small boobies, but my hang also. lol I know to much info, but hey it is the truth. I carry most of my weight in my stomach area, I think running track many years back help with my legs, and I have no idea about the rest. I could just see your boyfriends expressions when they found the knickers. :lol0:, what a shock. I remember wearing granny panties in 7th grade changing clothes in PE (gym), and all the girls making fun of me. That was one of those memories, you just never forget. :thumbup1:
  15. Beth Good for you, for getting back up on that horse. I know it can be hard but you CAN DO IT. I joined weight watchers, it is kind of pricey, but has been working for me I have lost 8 lbs the in the last 4 weeks. I'm averaging about 2 lbs a week. Good luck, and if you get down again you can always send me a message, and I will be able to cheer you up.

    Is my mom jealous :(

I'm a single parent, and fill that was not fair of her to throw it in your face that you were spending the money on you and not your son, because actually you are doing this for your son. I wish I would of had the surgery when my daughter was younger, she is 15 now, and think of all the activities I missed with her when she was younger, don't get me wrong I have done alot with my daughter, but feel if I was thinner, and healthier when she was younger, I could of done so much more. Don't let your mom get to you, and just think if she does go through the surgery maybe you can do it together, and be each others support system. Good luck, and remember you have support here if you need. I also aplaud you for doing this for yourself and for your son.

    You're dream outfit

Jane, You may have to explain to some of us fashionable stupid, what a Body Con is, or direct us to a link where we can see. I lost my fashion sense when I became over weight. lol As for my perfect outfit. I really don't have a dream outfit, but here is what I have in mind. I would love to buy a shirt that I don't have to pin to my bra so it don't fall down, because I think they believe all plus size women have big chest (I do not), I would love to buy a pair of jeans that the legs are not four sizes bigger then my legs, as I again do not have big legs, and last but not least I can not wait until I don't have to wear granny panies. lol

    "Suprise" VSG!

wow, that don't even give you enough time to get nervous about it. lol I wish something like that would happen to me. I have 89 days to sit here and think about things, and get nervous, excited, but nervous. Good luck, and keep us posted you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Ps I think you made the right choice instead of the band.

    Surgery in three DayS!!

Joanie, Thanks that is comforting. To be honest I do not know exactly if I'm getting the plication or not they just tole me Gastric Sleeve. My surgery is on a Thursday and they are keeping me in the hospital until Monday, because I live so far away. I hope they actually let me leave the hospital because if they keep me inside the whole time, I think I will go crazy. Well at least there is a mental hospital right there in the same building. lol
  21. Thanks, I did not have a choice I'm going through the Hunington, VA hospital, and he is the surgeon that performs the surgery for them. I live 7 hours away . Have you heard anything about Dr. Nease. I will not even get to meet him until the morning of my surgery. Good luck with your journey.
  22. Take it from me I totally understand what you are going though. I have been working on getting my surgery for almost a year now. I have had a lots of ups and downs. Just stay positive, and do not give up. I agree with the others about being a blessing in disguise. I went through the whole process had my date set with my surgeon for August 24, and on July 26th found out I had to go to a different surgeon, but have a new date with the new surgeon of December 2. Keep the faith.
  23. I lucked out and a lady in my office had the gastric bypass a couple of years ago. All my co-workers have been supportive, and my two bosses have been wonderful. I am very lucky to be working with a wonderful (most of the time, lol ) group of people. I think this choice will be different for each person. I mean really depends some people can work in a not so friendly atmospere. Like if I was still working for my last attorney, I would not of said anything to him, because he was a horses butt, and that is putting it nicely. Which every you decide just know we support you either way.
  24. Deb, WOO HOO !! Great job!!! I know you are so excited, I'm excited for you. Keep up the good work. Keep us posted.
  25. You are in my prayers. Good luck. Let us know how you are going as soon as you can.
