  1. Seven weeks post-op eating an average of 700 calories per day and yet I'm fearful that I'm eating too much too soon. Yowza. Does the eating disorder ever end? :-)

tired of water, what to drink?

caffeine is a diuretic which makes our bodies expel the liquid faster than normal, that is wy they don't want us taking in any caffeine. I used to LOVE my water, now not so much. :-) I drink Crystal Light, I'm allowed to drink 8 oz of V8 juice per day which I love, & two glasses of skim milk per day. All count towards your fluid intake. Sometimes I'll add some milk to flavored iced coffee with some Splenda. Sugar free popsicles also count as liquid. Edy's makes a really good no sugar added berry posicles. I also enjoy the sugar free Fla*Vor*Ice freezer pops. Hope that gives you some ideas.....
  3. I lost 9 pounds on the pre-surg diet, then after surgery I lost a pound a day for the first week. In week number two I gained and lost the same pound over and over again. My doctor told me the most discouraging thing to do is to weigh yourself daily. It's difficult, but I stay off the scale until Sunday morning now. I lost 6 pounds in my third week. I've been told that our bodies will hit several plataues before we hit our goal weight and that it is very normal. If you are getting too discouraged, just keep doing what you're doing and visit your scale less often.

time off from Work - Hom much Time

My doctor told me to plan on 4 to 6 weeks at home to get used to my new lifestyle. I'm at four weeks today with my four week follow up appointment on Friday. At that time we will determine if I need any additional time off. Physically, I felt that I could hvae gone back to work a week or two after surgery, but my surgeon thought it was too soon.

    GOING INSANE, PLEASE HELP!!!!

I think that's a normal response. That's all that I thought about too. Keep yourself occupied with other things and before you know it the procedure will be done!! Hang in there!

I was told I could golf after 4 weeks, but couldn't carry or lift my golf bag until 6 weeks out.

    Five days Post-Op

I haven't been hungry at all since surgery. My prescribed diet is pureed meals until next week when I will get to start eating soft foods. I haven't felt hungry nor weak. I'm not sure why some facilities/doctors tell patients to stay on a liquid diet in the beginning. That has to be very difficult!!!

    Five days Post-Op

If anyone had told me I'd feel this good five days post op, I would have thought they were crazy! Like everyone says, every day gets better and better. My biggest issue was from one incision that wasn't healing as fast as the rest. I put an ice pack on that incision on Saturday and by Sunday, all the swelling, redness, etc. had disappeared. My pain level was never very high - even in the hospital. I haven't taken any pain meds since Friday (my first day home). There's minor discomfort now, but nothing to get worked up about. I've lost 15 pounds since I started the pre-op diet on 07/11 and 7 of those pounds just in the past five days. My blood sugars went down to normal before I was discharged from the hospital on Friday and haven't been above 100 since!
  11. Five days post-op and feel amazing!!!

    Uti

I received a call last Wednesday from the Nurse Manager telling me my pre-admission tests found a UTI. I had no symptoms. They put me on bactrim for seven days. My pills are huge too. Luckily, I only have one left!!! They were making me terribly nauseous.
  14. Tomorrow at this time I will be in recovery! I'm down 9 lbs on the pre-surg diet. The nausea has subsided, now I'm just really anxious to get this going!!
