I hope that this helps those who are researching getting the band, with knowing what your eating habbits will be like after surgery. I also hope that this will help those who are never given a clear eating plan after surgery too.

Please know that this is just the plan that was given to me, and I do not expect all bandsters to follow this plan. It is simply a guidline for those who need one/are not given one.

Please remember to follow exactly what your surgeon/nutritionist says, even if it is different than this list.

  2. I am also in my 3rd day and the gas is something else, but seems to be fadding. I was told just Clear Liquids for 3 weeks, no protien shakes now. I am getting protien from skim milk. It is stated that we should get plenty of rest, and I nap 2 to 3 times a day. It is getting better. I take my pain liquid twice a day. Good luck.

Today is my 3rd day post op. I am having more pain today than I have had up to this point. Plus the gas and burping has started today too. I have been up walking around as much as I can tolerate and that has helped to relieve some of the pressure. I am still having a hard time getting all of my fluids in and the Protein Shakes are too thick for me right now. I have gained back 4lbs. but I'm sure that's from the swelling and all of the IV fluids from day of surgery. I've been taking a little bit of pain meds every 4 hours to keep the pain from escalating. A few times I have taken too big of sips of Water and I can feel pressure in my upper chest but it eventually goes away. Hope that all of the other 3day post ops are doing well.

  3. I hear you about the protien drink. I go to surgery day-after tomorrow and been on Optifast now for 13 days. For me it was mostly that it was only 800 calories a day and just did not give me much energy. Now to think that I will have to drink that stuff another 2-weeks after surgery, WOW!
