  1. Thank you all for the replies. It feels great to know you're not alone and to have all this support! My one problem is that I can't seem to find a way to get the Protein in! I cannot stand the taste of Protein shakes or drinks (I throw up no matter which brand). I try to eat meat and fish and eggs and yoghurt but I really don't like them a lot, and anyway they do not add up to 60 or 70g of protein no matter what I do. Do you think that would be a problem in my weight loss?
  2. I am almost 8 weeks post-op and I am surprised that I can eat everything with no exception. Is that normal? I keep reading here that people can't tolerate certain foods, and that it takes up to 3 to 6 months to be able to tolerate certain things. I have been eating everything for almost 2 weeks now. I started progressively of course, and did have one instance where I threw up pork, but now I can even eat that! Will eating normal food (in small quantities of course) harm me? My doctor does not want a low carb, low calorie diet. He insists on having 1200 calories per day and a balanced diet, to avoid that my body go into starvation mode. Also he believes that loosing the weight slowly (about 8-10 lb a month) will make it easier to maintain. I can even eat sweets as long as I stick to the required number of calories. My starting weight was 216 and I have lost 28 lb since my surgery on the 6th of July. Please guys, tell me what you think! Has anyone done that? A balanced diet, and still lost a lot of weight?
  3. Hi! First congratulations on the operation. I am 19 days post op and I can assure you, you will stop regretting it very soon. I also had a very hard time the 1st week, but now I'm as good as new! There is a light at the end of the tunnel believe me! The easiest thing for me to eat has definitely been Soups. I am still on liquids for another five days. Cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, cream of tomato.. A good source of Protein is cream cheese or soft yellow cheese, and also fruit yoghurts, but warm liquids have been easier for me to take. If you can't manage to swallow them at this point, don't worry about it, it will get better. For now the main thing is to stay hydrated. God luck. I hope you get better soon.
  4. Hi! Congratulations on your surgery. I had mine 17 days ago. I don't think there's anything to worry about, because your stomach is still very swollen after the operation. I felt the same thing the first few days, but it kept getting better, and I don't have this feeling anymore. Try to take very small sips. I starte with ice chips to make sure very little Water came into my stomach at a time. Good luck! Just know that this phase is the hardest, and things will just get better everyday. I have already lost 17 pounds and I feel great now. I was not this optimistic the 1st week:). I hope you feel better soon.
  5. Hi Martie, I am 15 days post-op and I know exactly how you feel. I just wanna tell you, as soon as I was allowed milk and yoghurt, it became much easier. Also for some reason, yesterday and today, my hunger seems to have vanished on its own. Maybe it just takes time, because the 1st week I was constantly starving. What used to leave me feeling full (for a short while) was the soups. I hope you feel better soon.

    Help - I'm still hungry

My notes don't mention anything about gum. I will ask my doctor. Thanks.

    Help - I'm still hungry

I am also on a ppi. I can't drink the protein shakes. They make me nauseous and I almost throw up every time. I have tried different kinds. I will try the chewing gum though. Thanks a lot!!

    Help - I'm still hungry

Hi there! I am two weeks post-op and I am still on full liquids. My doctor said one more week. I am experiencing a lot of hunger and I am a bit sick of all the soups . On the bright side I have already lost 18 pounds. The one thing that scares me though is that I still crave sweets and food just as much as before and I am not having much willpower to eat the right kind of food so far (I am eating some ice cream and some chocolate though not half as much as I used to.) Will I still loose weight? And will the cravings stop?
