  1. When was your surgery? You may need more time to heal before you move to mushies.

    ISOPURE aka ISOPUKE

I relate too. I can't get down this Isopure. I want to drink it, but it's so awful. unjury and Syntrax nectar are OK, but the texture is wrong. Sometimes these drinks set off my gag reflux. I feel bad because I've been getting my calories on this liquid diet from mainly carbs, not Protein. I drink 100% fruit juice (which is high in sugar, but at least it's natural) and milk (that I mix with protein supplements). I'm still in the 400-600 calorie range daily, at least. I know I'm probably setting myself up for failure, but liquid carbs are so much easier to drink than this Liquid Protein stuff. I think once I can actually eat again, I'll be able to have more protein.

    Always Hungry

I believe you, don't worry! I just felt the need to clarify that I didn't think Dr. Aceves did anything wrong because he was such a wonderful surgeon, and I'd hate to say anything that could be interpreted as negative about him.
  4. I agree. Isopure tastes awful, but it is a very high-source of Protein. The Atkins Advantage Protein shakes are a little more tolerable for me (although I think they tasted better before my sleeve surgery which is weird). They're not as high in protein as an Isopure drink; they have 15g of protein in one shake. The liquid phase is tough, especially the first few days. I'm still on the liquid diet, but it's gotten A LOT easier for me to drink. I'm 15 days post-op. You've just had surgery so you have a lot of swelling. Give it time and you'll be able to keep liquids down better
  5. I understand your frustration. I started at 225 (and even hovered near 230 once) and a size 18...and now I'm 204 lbs and a size 18. At least my pants are baggier, but I can't fit into a 16 still.

    Stall Question

I'm 15 days post-op and I've managed to gain 0.9 lb to offset my post-op 17 lb weight loss. It's frustrating to no end, you'd think that by drinking less than 600 calories a day I'd be shedding pounds consistently- but the human body doesn't work that way. *sigh* I've managed to pack on the pound. I'm afraid I've screwed my metabolism, and put my body into starvation mode (even though I'm not hungry). I hope this stall (and weight gain!) will end.

    Always Hungry

She had the same surgeon I have- Dr. Aceves. I don't think he did anything wrong.

    Always Hungry

She was sleeved in October of 2009. She's overeating, but not to the point of throwing up. She still has restriction, though, and can eat half the amount she used to be able to eat. She's just eating too quickly and eating the wrong types of foods. She's gained 15 lbs.

    Always Hungry

Her stomach is stretching, and forming a pouch off her sleeve.

    Anyone else belong here?

I'm 23 and I was just sleeved on August 12!

    Missing eating

I miss food and surprisingly I still miss being able to put away mass quantities of food. I used to be able to easily put away half a pizza, and get seconds and thirds on my favorite foods. I'd eat a full entree at a restaurant and still be hungry. But, after I ate all of that, I'd feel like crap. I have to remind myself why I put myself through a major surgery (and let's face it, this is a major surgery). I want to eat smaller portions and not feel deprived. I want to feel satisfaction from eating a healthy small diet. The liquid diet isn't that awesome. I can't wait to be able to eat again. Once I get through this, I have a feeling things will be a lot better
  13. I, like others, originally wanted the Lap-Band. My surgery was even scheduled for it. I knew a woman (we're not close) who lost over 150lbs on the Lap-Band and I thought it sounded fantastic because it was "minimally invasive" and "reversible". Then, through lots of my own research, I slowly changed my mind. The long-term complications sounded unbearable. I want to eat "normally" for the rest of my life (in much smaller portions!), and not worry about all of those things like "morning band" and getting "stuck". I stayed with the decision for the Lap-Band so long because my family thought it was safest and they were happiest with it. Finally, 2 days before surgery, I changed my mind and rescheduled to the sleeve. It's my body, and I don't want to have to suffer. I'm only 9 days post-op, and it by no means has been easy. I threw up constantly the first few days, but now I feel better. I'm mourning food, and hate this post-op liquid only diet. But, all of this will pass. I look forward to not "productive burping" the rest of my life. I didn't want the long-term "complications" (or side-effects, I guess) that came with the Lap-Band. Dr. Aceves in Mexico is my surgeon and I live in Ohio, so no way would I have adequate aftercare by going to Fill Centers USA. Thank you for posting this.

    GOING INSANE, PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hahahaha. Getting stoned sounds so good right now, and if that breaks my depression then that's even better. I'll have to ask around for some good stuff. Fingers crossed that I don't get a mad case of the munchies.
  15. I've used caloriecount.com, and I'm satisfied with it. I never tried myfitnesspal.com.

    5% of 1%?

Agnostic atheist here. I'm actually surprised to see so many nonbelievers here. I seriously thought everyone on this forum was religious.

    GOING INSANE, PLEASE HELP!!!!

Take it from me. Don't hang your happiness on getting the surgery. The weight loss is great, don't get me wrong. But, I'm depressed as hell.

    How To Tell Him

I can understand the anticipation. All of the guys that have been attracted to me (my boyfriend included), were into curvy girls or BBWs. I am still a BBW by all means, but I won't be for much longer. I grudgingly accepted my "BBW status" since it was better than nothing. I don't know who will be attracted to me when I have saggy skin. My boyfriend says he will still be attracted to me when I'm skinny. I've been with him for 7 months, and I'd really hate for it break off just because I had WLS. It may not seem that long, but it's long to me.

    AUGUST SLEEVERS!!

Oooh, add me! I was sleeved on August 12th
  20. I was sleeved on the 12th. I have lost 16 lbs since my surgery date. I am in utter disbelief at how quickly the weight has dropped. That puts my weight loss total at 20 lbs. Oooh yeahhh. Anyway, I still feel kind of "meh". I have no energy!

    Things I now know

I could definitely live without the sharts.

    Always Hungry

Be careful. My aunt had the sleeve done a couple years ago and gained back 15 lbs of her weight lost. She had a barium swallow done to see how her stomach looked, and she's growing a pouch on her sleeve from eating too quickly.

    Post Op Day 11

Don't weigh yourself everyday!!! You'll drive yourself crazy that way. Believe me, I've been doing the same thing, but I need to stop. I gained 0.2 lb since yesterday and I was ready to cry. 0.2 lb.

    This liquid diet sucks!!!

I'm 7 days post-op and still on my Clear liquids phase. I tried "eating" sugar free Jello to break up the monotony of Protein drinks and broth. I'm going to get sugar free popscicles too (water-based), since they also count towards the liquid intake. My doctor told me to aim for 70 g of protein a day, just thinking of reaching that goal makes my head spin. I sleep a lot, too. I know I'm not feeling hunger, but I do think about food more than I'd care to. I haven't eaten since last Thursday. Only 3 more days and I can have milk and creamy soups- more substance = happy Kala. I got myself into this, so I'm going to have to stick through it. I of course "knew" about this post-op phase, but never really thought it would be this hard with only 15% of my stomach!
  25. Good luck! I was just at Mexicali last week to get my sleeve! Dr. Aceves and his staff are wonderful- you won't regret it My aunt and I had my "last meal" at the Colorado restaurant at that hotel. It was pretty good. There are some nice stores within walking distance too, if you're up to exploring.
