  1. Some people have an easier time losing weight on a low carb diet. Even with WLS, carbs can slow down some people's weight loss. Usually it's women who have slower metabolisms due to age, medical conditions, or other things. I didn't have to do a low carb diet to reach my goal weight in 8 months, but it varies from person to person.

    Taste Buds?

Certain fried and oily foods aren't as good to me anymore. I can't stand scrambled or fried eggs but can eat hard boiled and deviled eggs now. I used to LOVE chicken Pad Thai, and a few days ago I ate some for the first time since my surgery (9 months ago) and had to run to the bathroom to vomit! I love sweets more now, though Maybe because they're easier on my sleeve. My tastes have adjusted to accommodate what my sleeve can handle. I guess because I've had bad experiences with greasy foods (like vomiting every time), they don't taste as good anymore.

    Hunger Pains

I experienced a lot of head hunger too post-op. We just have to readjust to our new eating habits. It took me awhile, but I no longer feel the urge to eat large quantities of food. I am satisfied with my small portions now. How far are you post-op?
  4. You did better than me. I had McDonald's once since my surgery, and I ate a full hamburger happy meal. Naughty me. I think you did fine with a chicken snack wrap. As far as "healthy" foods go there, that's not too bad. It's not like you have it every day. You made a reasonably healthy choice on short notice.

    Need Help/advice From Old Sleevers - I Failed :(

I'm not an old sleever. I was sleeved on August 12 of last year, so I haven't even reached my 1 year mark yet. But, I'll still chime in lol How tall are you? 183 lbs might seem high to you, but if you're taller then you very well may be in the normal BMI or lower overweight BMI category. If you're shorter, you still shouldn't beat yourself up. You managed to keep 120 lbs off for 2 years, and that's still a fantastic weight loss with the sleeve. It's not like you've gotten back up to the high 200's or 300's again. Do you still have decent restriction? Logging my calories has made a world of difference to me. A lot of people here use MyFitnessPal. I have around 40 friends from here and it's a great way to keep motivated. You should add me if you do join: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/kalars88. Also, how many calories a day do you eat if you do know? While I was losing I ate 600-800 (~1000-1100 on bad days), and now in maintenance I try to eat 1200 calories a day. I know a lot of people here use low carb diets to keep on track. I tried it and hated it, and I lost weight just fine while eating lots of carbs (but it varies from person to person of course). If you're having a harder time, though, low carb diets might work for you too. MyFitnessPal should help with tracking carbs. And, welcome to VST! Now you can get back on track p.s. I also have loose skin. I've been obese since I was 8, so I can totally relate. Last night I freaked my sister out when I showed her how far my stomach skin can stretch out lol
  6. I have a mild case of depression that I can manage without medication, but after my surgery I felt really down. It took a few months for me to feel normal again. For me it had to do with my connection to food. Even though we can't eat as much, I still had the mental craving to eat lots of food to comfort myself. I've been an emotional eater since I was a child. I couldn't physically do it (nor would I want to), and especially while I was on a liquid diet it felt like torture. The drop in calories post-surgery may contribute to your anxiety. Maybe once you can increase your calories and/or get used to the lower food intake you will feel better?

No Longer Hot? Omg This Is Awesome!

Oh really? That would explain a lot. I'm always cold, which is something I prefer to always being hot and sweaty. When I was big, it was so embarassing when my pits and back would sweat like crazy. Especially when I was at school and wore a backpack. I had the clinical strength antipersperant and deoderant, and I'd put it not only on my pits, but inbetween my lovehandles on my back and under my boobs! I still couldn't do anything about my sweaty forehead or scalp (which made my hair look wet and greasy on especially hot and humid days). I can soooo relate to this NSV. I share your joy. This is one of the many pros to the VSG. I dreaded the summer (I live in a very humid area), but now I can be comfortable this year! Congrats, WhoozisAnyway.

    Awesome milestone Congrats!

    One Year Surgiversary

You look amazing! Shopping in normal size stores is an awesome NSV. You've done a great job, and your hard work really shows! WTG

I Have Made It To One-Derland!

    Awesome!!! Welcome to Onederland
  11. There are videos people uploaded on YouTube while they're experiencing dumping syndrome... no thanks! It looks very unpleasant. It might be a deterrent, but I wouldn't want it.

    Onederland!

Congrats! This is one of my favorite milestones. I weigh myself on the Wii Fit, and I remember when I first saw that 1 at the front of my weight I did a little happy dance! It's great in Onederland, oh yes
  13. This was one of my goals too- to let people take pictures of me and not dread the results. It's funny that one of you mentioned untagging Facebook pictures- I did that quite a bit 80 lbs ago. I really, really hated how I looked in almost all pictures of myself from the shoulders down (and even some face pictures). Congrats on this NSV!

    NSV shout outs

I just squeezed into a US Size 6... HOLY CRAP I AM WEARING A SIZE 6. It's a bit on the tight side, but I'm not complaining. A year ago I doubt I'd be able to get a size six past my knees

    1 Year Ago 5/9/11!

    Congrats!!!!
  16. Welcome to Onederland! That's also a fantastic loss! Congrats
  17. If hiding it won't work, you could always try giving it away it a friend or family member and then only weigh yourself at their house once or twice a month. Smashing the scale with a sledgehammer might be liberating.
  18. I wanted to lose 80 lbs. I've lost 75 so far and I'm almost 7 months post-op.
  19. TJ Maxx has some nice ones for cheap. The store is pretty hit and miss, though, so you may have to come back a few times to find one you like.
  20. Post-Op here, and no. I would never do anything more drastic than the sleeve. It's worked for me so far, but I also didn't need to lose as much weight as many people considering the RNY or DS. I never considered the RNY or DS before my sleeve (but did consider the band for awhile). If I had more weight to lose, I probably would have looked into the more invasive procedures.

    Lose To Much?

I also started as a "lightweight" in regards to WLS. I had 80 lbs to lose and I've lost 75 so far. I still have my curves. In fact, they're more defined and feminine now than when I was 225 lbs. I have curvy hips and my boobs stayed the same size too. My smaller waist and strap size on my bra have actually made my boobs look bigger, in fact. As for losing too much, I would worry about that when you get to goal. 145 lbs is my goal and I'm probably going to try to go a little lower because of the "bounce back" as RickM said. I'm very happy with my size, but the desire is there to go lower! There's always the possibility of going overboard on the weight loss, of course. I'm only 7 months post-op so I'm by no means an expert on the matter.
  22. Congrats on your new sleeve! The first few days are pretty hard, but I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. Just wait until the weight starts falling off It's a great feeling.
  23. I'm 7 months post-op and I worry too that my sleeve may have stretched. I can eat more than I used to, but like people say it's probably because the swelling is gone. I just liked the extra restriction, but I'm close to goal so this is probably for the best.

How Did You Choose Your Screen Name?

It's just my first name. It was available and I didn't have to add any numbers or anything else to it. Kala. That's me

    Easter Challenge!

Well, it's up to you. I'm sure you'll meet the goal if you set it high, but like you said you also don't want to push yourself. I think in the beginning your body is just doing whatever it wants because it's recovering from the shock of surgery. You will still lose a lot of weight, though. Also, good luck! I hope you have a speedy recovery
