  1. For those that have gained after meeting your goal, please tell us why you have gained. Was it going back to eating the wrong items, trouble with binging, late night eating, cravings, or depression? It will help us working to goal without scaring us because we see that you have gain and it worries us!

For me it was just eating whatever I wanted to eat without weighing myself and not sticking to the program like I needed to. I still can't eat a lot but it was what I was eating. I started this post to find out if we could gain weight back and unfortunately found out that you can if you fool around with the eating. Stay on track. Stay focused. Weigh yourself to be accountable. And don't eat those slider foods. It will catch up to you. I got 6 lbs under my goal weight. And now I'm 19 lbs over my goal weight. Best wishes to you.

  2. I hate to be the bearer of bad news. It's no joke mypeeps. YOU CAN GAIN WEIGHT and sad to say all of it back if you don't take this seriously!!!! Don't play are onus with slider foods and eating junk. It catches up. I'm grateful to be where I'm at 5 years out (169) BUT I've gained a lot (I got down to 144 and my normal bmi goal was 150). Sleevie still works great but unfortunately I know how to get around it. Toatally not worth it. I made myself get on the scale yesterday and so glad I did to keep myself on track. The only one I would be hurting is myself. I've gone through too much to sabotage myself now. We got this peeps.

  3. Wow it's been so long since I've been back. Yesterday I celebrated my 5 YEAR Sleeve anniversary!!!!

I started this post and I'm back to say I'm 27 lbs. over my normal BMI goal. And a total 33 lbs. over my lowest weight.

I will tell you it's easy to do. My sleevie has been a HUGE blessing. I would totally have gained all my weight back by now. Like my surgeon told me, we can help you with this tool, however we can't fix your mindset. That would require some type of brain surgery which they haven't discovered for weight loss as of yet (well not that I'm aware of).

I will tell you it's an AMAZING TOOL, but NOT A FIX!!! or MIRACLE. My problem is I'm a huge snacker at work. I tell myself I don't finish my meals or eat that much at all...and it's true. However when I sit and think about every item I put in mouth during the day IT ALL ADDS UP. For some reason, for me at least, my sleevie wonder loves and tolerates Snacks VERY WELL lol.

I'm a huge lover of the weight watcher program especially TRACKING. I know what I need to do, and I will DO IT! I also stopped weighing myself thinking I would feel it in my clothes...I did and ignored it. I listened to others who said stop weighing. I don't blame them at all. I did this allllll by myself. I will admit I was a little crazy weighing all day lol. You have to find what works for you and stick to it.

So here's what I know I must do:

-Weigh daily or once a week (I will start tomorrow SUPER SATURDAY WEIGH in here I come :) )

    -and TRACK MY food FOO

-stop blaming my age/hormones for the weight gain LOL almost 48, no excuses ;)

try and continue to get my 10,000 steps in a day (love my fitbit charger)-

Hope these tips help. I know they are going to help me get back to where I need to be :). I'm pretty content, but would like to lose 17 lbs and maintain there. I can do it. I've done it before. 90 lbs. to be exact.

I'm so thankful to my sleeve sisters who did random acts of kindness yesterday to Celebrate my anniversary. I also received a beautiful plant at home. I'm so thankful to have such a wonderful sleeve family through this journey. We can't do this alone.

    Happiness and Love to All!

I wish you all Best wishes during your journey :)

  4. Hi Everyone :-)

Today is my 4 year anniversary. I was the one that originally asked the question about weight gain after surgery. Well I'm here to tell you that you can definitely GAIN WEIGHT BACK and not just a few pounds.

Although I'm very content and blessed to be wearing a size 8 today I was actually wearing some size 4's years ago. And was a perfect size 6 for over 3 years.

My goal weight was to reach 150 lbs. (a normal BMI weight for me). I got as low as 144 lbs. Today 4 years out I weigh 165 lbs. I have reached as high as 170 lbs. during my period.

The sleeve is a PHENOMENAL tool and 4 years out I STILL have amazing restriction. The weight gain is from not eating properly, PERIOD. For the MOST part I'm still making pretty good choices, but obviously there are choices that haven't been all that great to gain all this weight back.

I know age has something to do with it as well. I am 46 going on 47 and lots of changes going on lol. BUT NO EXCUSES for sure.

Again I'm content and watching my weight pretty closely now to make sure I don't gain any more weight and would love to be back to 150-155 lbs. I know it's possible for sure.

I'm so thankful for my sleevie.

OK y'all so I didn't take my yearly anniversary picture this year since I have gained so much weight. But today I was looking for a black dress and took these from the dressing room to send to my hubby to see if he liked it.

Tomorrow I will be 4 years and 1 month post op. I have about 12-15 lbs to get back to my goal weight, but again I'm so thankful I'm not where I was prior to sleevie. This dress is a size 8 and I used to be a tight 18 lol. I have no complaints. I know what I need to do :-) and I hope I can report back next year back at goal!!!

  5. I am now 5 1/2 years out and still at my original goal of 135 at 5'7. I've gone through menopause in the last 2 years and no change in weight. I have exercised religiously for many many years now and watch what I eat like a hawk. That's truly what it takes. So in January I'll be 6 years out and no doubt still rocking my size 4 jeans!

    Laura

You are 100% Laura!!! There's just no easy way around it. It's an awesome tool and you have seemed to master it. Congrats!!!!

Listen to Laura people!!!! If you don't want to gain, STAY ON THE PLAN!!!

I hope to report back one year from now back on track and back at my normal BMI range.

    Best wishes to all :-)

  7. Congrats! way to go!! Thank you for the update. I would love to hear more about maintenance at 3 years out. How are you keeping it off? What does your diet and exercise routine look like now?

The key is sleevie. He just doesn't let me eat as much as I used to. That's how I'm able to keep it off. It literally hurts if I take one bite too many. I just spit it out. I don't like pain lol.

I do exercise. Zumba at leat 2x a week. I love hiking and walking. I also do weights and treadmill (need to get back to more of that).

I eat everything now (at first bread was difficult to eat, but not any longer), but try to eat healthy for the most part, then when I don't I'm ok.

Best wishes to you on your journey :D

  8. S ~ you look amazing! We've talked about this before and how beautiful you were BEFORE the VSG and how amazingly beautiful you are now. I know you have put in the hard work to stay in your weight range, and we all know how easy it is for some weight to come back on. You have done not only an incredible job pre-and post-op with your weight loss but you have inspired and lifted up many people here at VST.

CONGRATS my friend on your 3 year anniversary...cheers to the new and improved you!

    ~S

Awwww so good to hear from you my beautiful friend!!!!! I'm so thankful for you and others who have always supported me during this journey!!!!

    Love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Nearly 46????? Noooo siiiir ....that is Amazing you look Amazing Congrats keep on rockin ur sleeve missy sooo happy 4 you =)

When your young you always hear time goes by sooo quickly and OMG it really does!!!! I'm thankful to be almost 46 (in November). And with sleevie I'm really living the best me I can be. Thank you so much :)

Congrats and thanks for posting. You look great. I especially like the jeans and tank top comparison pic. Your arms look great. Exercise, plastics or good genes?

You're so sweet. No plastics, although I would love a lower body lift LOL! I try and work out at least 2 hours a week (zumba). I need to get back to at least 4-5 days a week on my non zumba days. Thanks so much!!!

Wow! You look incredible (and not anywhere near 46!). Did you need any plastic surgery? I started at a size 16/18 and am wondering if I will need any work done (although a boob job is probably going to be necessary).

It's so inspiring to see success post maintenance! Thanks for sharing and love the pics!

I would LOVE to have plastics done, but can't afford it :-(...at this time of my life I'm really just learning to appreciate me just the way I am and appreciate this weight loss. I always try and remember how far I've come and where I could be and remain thankful :)...thanks so much!!!

  10. In a few hours I will be 3 years post op! WHOO HOO!!!!!!!

I am still lovin my sleevie! It has been an amazing journey. It was really tough at first but here I am 3 years out and SOOOO HAPPY.

Here are a few pics from a few days ago in a Macy's changing room where I was looking for a dress to wear for a wedding in December (size 6 dress and NO Spanx, however I will be wearing them at the wedding LOL) to pics from a few weeks ago (wearing all white jrs. dress, say what??? :)...and a few before pics for those who don't know me.

I also included a picture from the day I actually tried on my wedding dress in July 2011 and IT FIT!!!! That was a personal goal I really wanted to reach and I DID IT!!!!! WHOOT!

My highest weight recorded was 234 and a tiiiiight 18W (I refused to buy any bigger)...my lowest weight post op was 144 and actually was wearing a few 4's. Today I'm 155 and STILL WEARING clothes from May 2011 when I reached my normal BMI goal weight of 150 :D (6-8's). Not bad for this nearly 46 year old!

I'M SOOOO GRATEFUL TO GOD for my sleeve! And I'm SOOO THANKFUL for all of you who have supported me during this journey. A special shout out to my southern CA VST family! Thank you for always being there for me, your support has truly helped me through it all!!!

    HUGS!

  11. Yes I feel the same way.

Hi sweetie!!!! Well here I am almost 3 years out (8/27/13) and I'm SOOOOO HAPPY that God opened the doors for me to walk through! I am currently 5-6 lbs over my normal bmi goal weight 3 years later and THAT IS TRULY A MIRACLE. I'm still wearing the same clothes from 5/11 when I reached my goal, and THEN SOME LOL! I'm fit and healthy and feel SOOO BLESSED!!!!

Thank you God for my sleevie wonder :D...best wishes!!!!

  12. Hey girl - I want to ask you a question. Does the carbonated drink bother you at all? It was the ONE thing Dr. Davidson said 'never' to......I was not and have never been a big soft drink girl, so it was not a problem. It's not like he said NEVER to a piece of chocolate cake or something like that. LoL Anyway, I seldom drink, but every so often, maybe once a month or ever two months, I use to like to have a glass of Captain Morgan and Coke and Coke Zero was my choice. It has been three years and I was just wondering, would I be totally a bad girl to do this? My new drink, when I DO have something is Malibu Cocoanut Rum and pineapple juice. It's not bad, but it's not the captain an coke. :) Just curious! Give me your thoughts.

They don't bother me at all :)...I started drinking sodas at around 11 months post op. I don't drink them AT ALL LIKE I USED TO (pre-op). 1-2 cans a day is about it now, where as before it was more like a 2 liter or more a day YIKES!

  13. Congratulations!!

Can you post what you eat on a typical day?

I am really struggling. If I go really low carb , Constipation is a big problem. I feel like I need fruit in my diet.

Some people say to eat low fat. How in the heck do you eat low carb, low calorie and low fat now that we eat more normally?

Maybe I do need to join weight watchers so I can learn to eat like a normal person.

    Hi there!

I actually just incorporate the Protein into the ww program. On ww I get 26 points per day and 45 bonus points per week (to use in one shot or to spread out within the 7 days). On the ww program FRUIT and VEGGIES are 0 points WHICH IS AWESOME. I typically eat grapes, melons, bananas, oranges and cherries. And I love carrot chips with fat free ranch (which is 1 point per 2 tablespoons).

OK here's a typical day while trying to lose weight, not maintenance, so less calories (approx times):

    • 5:30 am Premier Protein shake
    • 6:30 am fruit (unlimited)
    • 7:30 am. 1 or 2 boiled eggs or Protein shake
    • 9:00-10:00 am. carrot chips (unlimited) with ff ranch
    • 11:00-12:00 p.m. Starbucks venti caramel frap lite or something 6-8 points, but I like my frap so yeah
    • 1:00 pm (if hungry fruit or veggies)
    • 3:00 pm Protein Bar and or almonds
    • 4:30-5:30 gym (zumba or weights) I don't give myself exercise points
    • 6:15 pm 4 or 5 egg white omelette with mushrooms, green bell peppers, ham, onion, and fat free cheese MM MM GOOD!!!!!!!
    • 7:00 pm close it up with a diet Dr. Pepper or Diet Pepsi, I'm super full by then and STAY OUT OF THE KITCHEN.

    Hope it helps!

  14. OK y'all just wanted to check in. I have 2.4 lbs. to be back at my normal BMI goal, sigh :D!!!

As I unfortunately found out, YOU CAN GAIN WEIGHT BACK, they KEY (at least for me) has been to FACE THAT TRUTH and never allow it get out of control ever again, and always get back to the basics (protein, Protein, protein). Which I have known, I'm just STUBBORN LOL! But I'm sooooo thankful for people like feedyoureye, NtvTxn, Ms Skinniness, iegal, and many many others who NEVER stop sharing that positive reinforcement! Don't ever give up on us guys! We will eventually get it :D!!!!

I hope check back here reeeeeal soon to say I'm back at goal, until then keep keeping on and go drink a Protein Shake LOL!
