  1. It worked for me. I'm 5'3 and I started this journey weighing 196 lbs today I weight 171 and it's only been 5 months! It is about you making better food choices but the band has helped me do that. Alot of stuff I used to eat doesn't even sound good to me anymore, when before surgery I didn't know how I was gonna go without. I was a die hard diet soda drinker, I have not had a soda since 8-10-11 and I don't even miss it, I'm a tea drinker now and I use sweetner with 0 calories. I LOVE to eat at Deli's now for lunch and a cup of Soup and 1/2 a sandwitch without eating the bread makes me feel Super stuffed. Breakfast is a Protein Shake (weekends I have a "real" breakfast) and it keeps me full until lunch time. Never in a million years would I have been able to do that pre band! Good luck. For me this is the best decision ever, I"m loving the results!

  3. I had my 2nd fill yesterday Oct. 3. The PA added .5 cc. At surgery on Aug. 11, the doc filled it with 5cc. I have a 10cc band. I'm now at 5.5 cc and I have lost 20lbs. Since surgery. I did notice right before my 2nd fill I was able to eat more and getting hungy more often. Now I'm right at my Sweet Spot, I get satisfied on just a little amount and eat 3x a day, Breakfast is always a Protein Shake so really I'm just eating 2 regular meals a day. I have never been stuck (knock wood) and can eat almost anything. I just can't eat alot of it.

  5. Hi. I drink EAS chocolate Fudge Protein Shakes every morning for Breakfast. I"m a month post opt and I have lost 17lbs. I have noticed that if I take my vitimin or eat or drink anything else before my Protein Shake then it does not taste as good. But if that is the first thing I put in my mouth (besides brushing) in the morning it is delish. It keeps me full till lunch time which is right around 11:30, then the hunger will start kicking in. Good luck to you! The key is just finding a Protein Drink you like, don't make yourself drink something you don't like, there are many out there, I'm sure there is one that will be delish to you!

  6. I had surgery Aug. 11 and my first day back at work was Aug. 15th. I do have a desk job so I'm not required to be on my feet all day. I also had hernia repaired. I wasn't even taking pain medication anymore after day 2 of my surgery. But everyone is differant. Sunday following my surgery was my first day out of the house, so we did a little shopping went to get something to eat or for me I should say drink. And then I drove home from the store just so I could see how it was going to be the following day on my first day back to work. Everything went smooth and here I am 2nd day back at work and feel great. To me the more walking and moving around I did, the more the gas and soreness wore off. I say you know your body and its limits and if you have a job that requires alot of walking and being on your feet all day then I would take off more time and go back early if you feel like it. B)

  7. Yes I agree!! I am getting banded the day after you on August 12! I need lots of help from all of you too!! I am anxious to make "band friends"

Well you have made one here! We can go through this together. The day is getting closer and closer. I go see the Nutritionist tomorrow, then on Thursday I start my Preopt diet which is just a NO carb diet.

    How about you?

  8. I will be getting banded on Aug. 11th as well. Let's all keep in touch and check on each other. I know I'm gonna need all the help begining 7-28 when I start my pre opt diet. I'm excited & nervous as well. Good luck!!

My dietician gave me a small list but many on here have lists they have used and I have gotten good ideals from them. I started out using Special K drinks to get myself ready but more ideals come from people who have already done thhis. Mine too will be aug. 11 so my new friend I am right there with you on taking any ideal there are.

    Good luck

  9. I have a surgery date of Aug. 11th. I'm so nervous. I'm mostly scared of having to retrain myself on eating differantly, smaller bites, not drinking while eating etc. I hope I can make these changes easily.

I FINALLY got my surgery date! August 4th!!!!! I am so excited! I feel like it's a long ways away!

Who else is getting banded in August?

  10. Hi Lisa,

Our stories are similar. As I am self pay and my BMI is 34. I'm 33 with two kids and I've dieted, excersise to lose weight and put back on more. I'm at the point in my life now where I am the biggest I have ever been, even being 9 months pregnant with both my kids. So to that I say "No More". I'm scheduled for surgery on Aug. 11, 2011. Any tips you can give me would be great. Please keep in touch I would love to see your progress.

    Thanks!

    Melissa

    Hey There,

Just looking for any July 2011 banders. I just started my process, but as that I am "self-pay", I am on a fast track to surgery. Although, not terribly obese (bmi 34), I am using lap band surgery as a tool for continued success after loosing weight. I have always been able to join a program(diet or exercise or prescription) and loose weight.....I've done it several times with several different programs (not a good thing), but I always gain the weight back and more. Now that I am in my 40s, it is harder to loose and faster to come back. No more, I say! I want to be heathy in my future - family history/genetics dictates that I will/can be using a walker or wheel chair from degenerative bones and joints, heart disease, diabetes. I am trying to steer clear of that but still keep seeing myself heading in that direction, so now is the time for further action. Although apprehensive about going under, I am reading all the good things about the lap band procedure and am hoping that it is just a little more than the tubiligation and endemetrial ablasion that I had done last year. At least, I am thinking of it that way, so as to not scare myself too badly!
