Awesome story, you'll do great. Can't wait to see your progress!
  2. It worked for me. I'm 5'3 and I started this journey weighing 196 lbs today I weight 171 and it's only been 5 months! It is about you making better food choices but the band has helped me do that. Alot of stuff I used to eat doesn't even sound good to me anymore, when before surgery I didn't know how I was gonna go without. I was a die hard diet soda drinker, I have not had a soda since 8-10-11 and I don't even miss it, I'm a tea drinker now and I use sweetner with 0 calories. I LOVE to eat at Deli's now for lunch and a cup of soup and 1/2 a sandwitch without eating the bread makes me feel Super stuffed. Breakfast is a protein shake (weekends I have a "real" breakfast) and it keeps me full until lunch time. Never in a million years would I have been able to do that pre band! Good luck. For me this is the best decision ever, I"m loving the results!
  3. Iam 110% Happy w/ my band. The doctor actually recommended I NOT have a fill at my last appointment because I'm losing weight too fast!! Totally unheard of before my band!

  6. Hi. I drink EAS Chocolate Fudge Protein shakes every morning for breakfast. I"m a month post opt and I have lost 17lbs. I have noticed that if I take my vitimin or eat or drink anything else before my protein shake then it does not taste as good. But if that is the first thing I put in my mouth (besides brushing) in the morning it is delish. It keeps me full till lunch time which is right around 11:30, then the hunger will start kicking in. Good luck to you! The key is just finding a protein drink you like, don't make yourself drink something you don't like, there are many out there, I'm sure there is one that will be delish to you!
  7. I got my first fill today. I was surprised to find out that at surgery my doc. started me out with 5cc in my band. Today at my fill she pulled out 4cc and added 1 more which brings me back to 5cc. I find myself not eating alot like right after surgery which is good. Today I weigh 180 lbs. So excited to see where this new fill takes me. 175 170, can't wait. And the worst part of the fill was the PA pushing down on my port, other than that NO pain! I'm really starting to think that this was a great decision in getting the LB in the first place. all smiles today. Life is good!
  8. Today I am 2 weeks post opt and I get to start the "Soft" foods stage. Does anyone have any good examples of "Soft" foods to start with?

Your doing great! I always wondered when i could eat a salad again. Keep up the good work....We'll make it!
  10. I had surgery Aug. 11 and my first day back at work was Aug. 15th. I do have a desk job so I'm not required to be on my feet all day. I also had hernia repaired. I wasn't even taking pain medication anymore after day 2 of my surgery. But everyone is differant. Sunday following my surgery was my first day out of the house, so we did a little shopping went to get something to eat or for me I should say drink. And then I drove home from the store just so I could see how it was going to be the following day on my first day back to work. Everything went smooth and here I am 2nd day back at work and feel great. To me the more walking and moving around I did, the more the gas and soreness wore off. I say you know your body and its limits and if you have a job that requires alot of walking and being on your feet all day then I would take off more time and go back early if you feel like it.
  11. I have 3 days to surgery, Aug. 11, 2011. I know I have done all the reasearch one can do, but now all of a sudden I feel as if my mind has gone "Blank". I have plenty of material to look back at but I know all the answers were in my head where now this void is. Oh well there is no going back now, I just have to remember why I'm doing this. I hope my experience is a good one and I hope you all will support me on my journey. I'll write this blog so I can remember the steps I had to take to get to where I hope to one day be. My goal weight is 135 and I'm starting at 196. Doesn't sound so bad, but as they say it's eaiser said than done!

Your doing great! Just keep your eye on the prize and your body will adjust soon to this new eating pattern you are creating. After all the research I have been doing on the Lap Band, I feel that the surgery is actully the easy part and the hardest part comes in after wards when we are retraining ourselvs on what to eat and how to eat and making sure we are eating and drinking enough to get our vitimins. So hang in there and refer any issues with major hunger or pains to your doctor. If you need any tips I'll be happy to share what my doc has shared with me. Oh btw, my surgery is 3 days away. I'm getting so nervous!!

Awesome! So happy to hear your doing great. I'll take note on the "tinly" gas medication you used!
  14. Well you have made one here! We can go through this together. The day is getting closer and closer. I go see the Nutritionist tomorrow, then on Thursday I start my Preopt diet which is just a NO carb diet. How about you?
  15. I will be getting banded on Aug. 11th as well. Let's all keep in touch and check on each other. I know I'm gonna need all the help begining 7-28 when I start my pre opt diet. I'm excited & nervous as well. Good luck!!
  16. I have a surgery date of Aug. 11th. I'm so nervous. I'm mostly scared of having to retrain myself on eating differantly, smaller bites, not drinking while eating etc. I hope I can make these changes easily.
  17. Hi Lisa, Our stories are similar. As I am self pay and my BMI is 34. I'm 33 with two kids and I've dieted, excersise to lose weight and put back on more. I'm at the point in my life now where I am the biggest I have ever been, even being 9 months pregnant with both my kids. So to that I say "No More". I'm scheduled for surgery on Aug. 11, 2011. Any tips you can give me would be great. Please keep in touch I would love to see your progress. Thanks! Melissa
