  2. awesome job! Running is my main exercise now, adding in yoga once a week and zumba when i can. I am addicted to running now...its crazy to think this time last year i too, could not run 1/4 of a mile...now i have my 7th 5k next weekend and im trainung for a half marathon in april! im already at the point i can run 10 miles non.stop and last year, i could not climb a flight of stairs without getting winded! I love seeing the progression...and i love my new collection of race t-shirts! lol
  3. yes...i have a 160 pound Great Dane who was only 1 1/2 when i had my surgery and he just knew! He was so soft and gentle and calm for the first couple weeks. I was very worried about his tail hitting my incisions or knocking me over or sitting on my lap....but he didnt, stayed on the floor...always right by me! They know!

  7. PA...$14,125...but insurance paid $5000 of that for a hiatal hernia repair done at the same time....so my cost was only $9,125
  8. you are always my inspiration! You look mahhhhhvalous!
  9. I had an amazing NSV this weekend! I ran my first 5k since my surgery 11/14/11 and shaved 4 minutes and 52 seconds off my last 5k time (before surgery)! And...my race T-shirt was a medium instead of a (very tight) Extra large! I even ran it in barefoot shoes! I love feeling so strong and healthy! I've already signed up for four more! If you've never done a 5k...I highly recommend it...most of them have a walkers division, and, like me, I had to walk every so often to catch my breath. But, its a great way to commit yourself to training....like holding your own feet to the fire!
  10. I am 5'7" too and my surgeon set my goal weight at 170 lbs!!! My personal goal is 155 as well...I was once 155 and was able to maintain that weight for about 5 years, that's why I chose it!

  17. I am 4 1/2 months post open and still have shoulder pain when I eat. I talked to my surgeon about it at my three month appointment and he said it can take up to a year to form a protective scar tissue and the pain to go away. I can control it, however. If I eat very very slow, tiny bites and chew my food well....very easy to do at home...but going out to eat is a different story! I also stop eating for about ten minutes when I feel the first tiny twinge. Another time I notice it happens a lot is when I am too busy talking and not paying attention to the way I'm eating!
  18. I was 202 this morning....and driving myself nuts by stepping on the scale two to three times a day! maybe I'll stay away for a week and see if I get the same results you did! heheheh congrats! that has got to be an incredible feeling! You've gotta be so proud of yourself!!!!!
  19. hi 100%sleeved! You and I have almost the same stats! I was sleeved 11/14/11 and started at 255. I am now 202. I love zumba and I've started running. My goal weight is 155, but I would take less! hehehehe!
  20. There are many different reasons to keep it personal! I chose to keep mine private, only telling my husband and best friend because my brothers 34 year old daughter died of malnutrition, three years after her gastric bypass. My mom, the queen of worry, blames the surgery, not my niece's nutritional habits. Because of this, I have chosen to keep it hidden. I didn't even tell my kids because I don't want them to be put in a position where they would have to lie to their grandma. Trust me...this was a very difficult decision for me...normally I an a blabber mouth...always wanting to share my story. But I attend support group once a month in a city about two hours away and there, I am free to be open about it.
  21. Tonight, in my Emile Henry tagine, I threw together: boneless Pork chops cubed butternut squash apples fresh garlic cinnamon curry salt pepper was very tasty!!!
  22. I am 12 weeks out and i had both done. I still have issues with meats and breads are a no-no for me. I can eat all meats as long as i take tiny bites and chew like mad before I swallow! It also takes me a very long time to eat meats because I have to give myself a few minutes in between bites. I will get horrendous left shoulder pain I'd I eat too much or too fast. I bought a cooking tagine that has really help making meats tender. There is a thread here on tagines and some recipes. Definitely a good investment for us sleevers!
  23. Just what I needed to read tonight! I'm only ten weeks out and was feeling yucko because after skiing six hours yesterday, I gained two pounds overnight! I know it will come in time! Thanks for the smiles! Good job on all your triumphant moments and enjoy the ones to come!
