  1. If anyone needs a fill doctor in the south Louisiana area please get in touch with me and I will give you the phone number of my PCP who will start doing fills (with the flouro (sp?) x-rays) beginning October 17. The price is reasonable ($250). I was going to have to go to Dallas to get my fill, so to say the least, I'm so excited that someone here will start doing them.
  2. Hi Maggie! I too was banded by Dr. Sanchez, but on August 6. And, I too want to eat all the time but I have still managed (thankfully) to maintain my 13lb loss. I have been waiting for my PCP to give me a fill (she's trying to start up a second office to do this). I have not lost anything in weeks. (But, I'm not exercising). And since muscle weighs more than fat that may be why you are not losing actual weight, but will lose inches. Also, I found that even though I thought I was gaining back (my scales are crap) I was happily surprised to find out that I didn't when I went to the Dr. for Strep throat. Have you tried calling Anne Marie to ask her what she thinks. Maybe you'll need a fill soon--since it's been 4 weeks. I felt like I needed one after 2 weeks! And it's been several (7) since I had surgery and I'm still waiting for my fill. One more thing, don't forget to drink Water. It's supposed to flush out fat (?) I drink a lot of Crystal Light and I eat sugar free popcycles to keep me hydrated and feeling full. Good luck and don't give up!
  3. Hi ! Thanks for the message! I have been waiting for my Doctor (PCP) to give me a fill, she will start doing them any week now (she's been trying to get the insurance and other stuff ready). I really believe I need one. She trained with the Doctor who performed my surgery so I'm excited about that, I'm just losing patience (instead of weight!). At any rate, I hope to have a fill within the next couple of weeks.
  4. I've been a member for a little while now but never did my intro... I think this is the best site for lapband info. etc. there is on the web. Since I've joined the group I have met one person and introduced others to this group. I was banded on August 6, 2003 by Dr. Sanchez in Monterrey Mexico. I have not had any fills yet :think, but in need of one!! I have lost 13lbs and I don't think any inches but I'm not giving up! I know once I get some restriction with a fill I will do much, much better. Good Luck to all!
  5. I too have a really bad, sharp pain in my port area. I was really scared until I read some of the posts. My port has always hurt at some time or another (since surgery) but yesterday it started hurting really bad. (I'm 6 weeks post op). I go into the Dr.'s office today (my PCP) and I will have her check it out to see what she thinks but I've been so worried. I can eat normally (I haven't had a fill yet--waiting on my PCP to get ready as she will start doing fills SOMETIME?!) and I have no restriction what so ever. I did lose 13 lbs but I feel like I have gained it all back. I'm really discouraged. :sick Oh. well... wish me luck!
  6. Hi all from Louisiana! I too am from the BR area and was banded on August 5, 2003 (Dr. Sanchez-Monterrey). I'm on solids now and really thinking I need a fill-I feel like I can eat any and everything already! I lost 13lbs in the first 2 weeks but nothing since. I know it's only been a month (or almost). At any rate, who will you be using for fills? My PCP will be doing mine - in Prairieville. I'm so excited about it because it will be close by. She' waiting for all of her xray stuff to come in. My sister was also banded on August 5, we did it together. We'll have to keep in touch (everyone from LA!!!). I've met another girl from P'ville who was banded 2 weeks after I and has the same PCP. (SMALL WORLD). My Dr. went to Monterrey to train with my doctor (Sanchez) to learn how to do the fills.
  7. For my very first post to this board: I too was banded by Dr. Sanchez on August 5 (me and my sister) and he is a wonderful Dr. My primary care physician went to visit him 2 weekends ago to learn how to do fills and she too was VERY impressed (to say the least!). She and her partner went and she would recommend him to ANYONE. The care you get (5 Dr.'s per surgery-including Dr. Sanchez) and the staff at his clinic and the hospital were fantastic. He always greeted you (Dr.) with a hug and smile and visted for long periods of time. I was always told that he is a pioneer in the field of Lap Band surgeries. I'm glad I went to him and I wouldn't have gone to anyone else. In fact my Dr. would recommend him to anyone who is considering the surgery. She will be doing my fills (and will use the xray method. I can't imagine someone like Dr. Sanchez using a "cheap" band either! As far as cost or fee changes, I don't know unless it's a communication problem. I don't know. I just know that this is the very first time I have EVER heard anything negative about Dr. Sanchez and am disappointed. I belong to 2 other forums too. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
