  1. "LOL I was like whatever in a year or two when I am at my goal weight and your still b*tching cuz your fat, I dont wanna hear it." LOOOL!!!!!!!!! That is awesome! Thank you for posting this! All the best on your journey as well!!
  2. Hello Everyone! I posted a comment on my page about how happy I've been and how much it's starting to get on people's nerves.. all the more because most of them don't know why I'm happy. One of the lovely young women on here commented on my status and said (and I'm paraphrasing here) how her friends get jealous and tell her she's losing too much weight.. too skinny, etc. I have not been banded just yet, but I found this interesting because I've been receiving so much support, I haven't thought about anyone being (or possibly being) jealous of me. I was just curious as to some of the things you guys and gals have encountered, after having been banded, where people are jealous of you or have tried to discourage you? Some of the best ways you deal w/it? ..especially if it comes from family/friends.. I'm very close to mine and I don't know what I would do if they were jealous of me or tried to discourage me from going after this. Any thoughts?
  3. Yes..that's very true! I've seen people say they had to pay about 3k.. I am very grateful for my insurance! I have my seminar next week.. I'm very fresh to this but, very well informed.. I can't wait to get started on the process! Hopefully, once I meet with the surgeon things will flow pretty quickly from there. All the best on your journey!
  4. I'm not sure if this even applies.. but.. after researching this for months now, I've only just decided it was the right move for me and started making provisions to get this done. Since I've made the decision, I've been sincerely happier! My brother looked at me yesterday and told me I had dropped some weight over the past couple of weeks. Maybe my cortisol levels have dropped and all the stress I was under before has melted away (at least for the time being ) and all the "happy-brain juice" (aka endorphins) have crushed the cortisol resulting in weight loss... who knows!!?!? I don't know your stress levels--or lack thereof--but if you've been happier and more excited that could be a factor in your weight loss.. especially if you weren't meaning to lose so much. All the best!!
  5. I have UHC through my job. I called them after I decided this is the right option for me. I have and always do get the best plan, so I pay out more but they told me they would cover 100% after my $200.00 deductible and all I need to qualify is a diagnosis of morbid obesity from my doctor. I was so shocked that that's all it took..she told me it's different for each plan but because I have the best that's all they need from me. I don't know if that will change or remain the same once I actually start the process..but I'm seriously hoping it remains the same. All the best!
  6. Allison0927 is right... I have not been banded, but from what I've read from many people on this site, is the liquid diet is to shrink your liver. And I don't think one weak moment (esp. popcorn) is going to void the entire diet. Just a word of advice: if you're anything like me..I've tried just about EVERY fad and serious diet before making the decision to get banded.. but it wasn't all a waste. I've learned a lot..one of the most important things I've learned is HOW to eat. Not just physically, but psychologically and chronologically. Allison is right.. planning is EVERYTHING. I'm not sure what kind of Protein shakes you have (or are allowed to have), but if you can transport them, do so. Get a little cooler or a cup that you can store the powder in and just throw a bottle of Water w/it for later. Get the magic bullet to go..LoL! It seems silly, but it's convenient if you don't wanna do just powder and water and you wanna throw some ice in with it. Grab some pudding and applesauce..throw them in your cooler too! You sound like you have a very hectic schedule (or it could have been a one-off situation)..but either way, planning ahead keeps you from being in a position where have to decide between a starving headache or counter-productive junk food. One of my mantra's is "No excuses for food abuses!" ..LoL! It's lame..but it keeps me accountable and forces me to make previsions for the future (near or distant). I think you'll be just fine! Just remember to plan, plan, plan and stay the course!! Best wishes doll!!
  7. I had been researching Lap Band for months now, and have only just recently decided it was best for me. I didn't tell anyone I was researching or considering it. Especially my family.. I'm so close to them and I wanted to be so certain that this was what I was going to do that their reaction or opinion didn't sway me. Surprisingly, once I told them, they were so super supportive. I haven't gotten any, "you're crazy" comments. I'm not ridiculously huge, but I am a big girl and I know that I am not comfortable in my own skin. Outside of my family, I've told 1 person and he's been super supportive as well. I don't think I'll be telling anyone else anytime soon. My best friends don't even know that this is something I'm doing. There are just things in life that are better kept between a select few. When too many people know you get so many mixed emotions and opinions if everyone is not on the same page (and they rarely are) and in going through something as life-changing as this, you don't need all that negativity and opposition. Don't sweat the small stuff! You do what's best for you! All the best on your journey!!
  8. Yea..I think I'll def have to do the diet before (according to the surgeons requirements) but that's better than having to do it for 6mths.
  9. I have UHC as well, through my job, and they told me I had the best option, so I was thinking maybe I wouldn't have to go through all of that. I'm glad to see that someone else w/UHC didn't have to do that. Thanks!!
  10. Just a quick question about the Pre-Op 3-6mth diet: I was just reading in another forum where lots of insurance companies require you to go through that. It's not a big deal, as I was hoping to get banded late this year/early next year anyway, but I just wanted to know if there was anyone out there that didn't have to do the diet? I spoke w/my insurance company and they told me because I had the best option, the only requirement was a diagnosis of morbid obesity ( ) and then they would cover everything 100%. I'm asking because I'm not at that point just yet. I've only just scheduled my seminar and chosen my surgeon. Any thoughts? Thanks!
  11. Obviously I'm still looking for a surgeon..but will they be the ones to set up the seminar once I settle into one? Or is that something I'll have to find on my own?
  12. I have successfully told my family about the journey I am now ready to embark on, and I have received their total support! That is truly a blessing! Now I am on my search for a good surgeon. I have been googling my little eyes out, but I'd like to go with a dr. I know someone's had an amazing experience with as opposed to someone I've just "innee, mennee, minnee, moe'd" from a phone book or online. Anyone got any suggestions? I'd really appreciate them! Thanks in advance!
