Hello Calgary! :) Dr.McKenna?
Hi there,,,I did see Dr. McKenna about 2 years ago for about 6 months. The extra $150. is for a metabolic rate test. There is a tube that you keep for future metabolic tests. I found going to her good,,,I would have some great talks with her. My only problem is it was literally across the city from me and I couldn't get there after work in time for my appointments. There is no reason why you couldn't be going to her and waiting for the lap band.

80's Trivia
Oh My I do have to post ... I grew up in the NWT of Canada,,,and I remember I had the Billy Idol hair ( a perm gone bad) And to ad to the look a friend's cousin was in hair school and needed someone to do hair colors on,,,Hot Pink. I had think black eyeliner,,,and Madonna tees,,,with bracelets,,,black leather books over my skin tight jeans with the zipper starting in the back and coming under and over to the front...yup I was soooo hot. I did the Boy George faze...the long shirt and hat... Cyndi Lauper had nothing on me.... In a small town,,,this was strange. I remember my boss (pizza joint) asking me to keep doing things to my hair cause sales increased with people wanting to check out my newest look...ha

Is plastic surgery inevitable?
Ive always been indifferent to cosmetic surgeries...to each his/her own. I personally would... I know I will want me face done,,,looking at my mother,,,and pictures of my grandmother,,,I know I will want a tuck or two. There is a young woman I work with who has a mom who is adicted to face lifts and other cosmetic surgeries...she had her eye lids done,,her eyelids and eyebrows tattooed,,,lips injected and tattooed, breasts done, tummy tuck, chin, and a dimple...I learned how a dimple is made. It grossed me out.

Is plastic surgery inevitable?
Heather,,,wow that is a huge clothing change for you. I know of a owman who hasn't had a tummy tuck and I dont think shes interested in getting one. Looking at her,,,,you can see the loose skin,,,around her nexck area...and well if she wears cloth fitting pants,,,her front looks like a butt. All that loose skin stuffed inside I guess.

Tyler,,,having a tummy tuck isn't all about being vain..(yes I will stand up and admit I do want to look good in a pair of jeans with the shirt tucked in. But its also about all that loose skin,,,causing yeast infections,,,we don't want me to talk about this indepth...visualize...ha ha Doing the tummy tuck will that problem.... Angie

Hello from Calgary! Here's my story, introduction:
Tyler,,I always like to be informed,,so do alot of reading,,,researching before I attempt the first time. My family Dr. knows when I bring something up,,,I already know the whys and hows,,,just sticking out there for him to give me his imput. I went to Dr. McKenna first 2 years ago...this felt more like councilling,,,we talked about my food intake,,,work outs. Checked my metobolic rate...checked it again cause she had never seen one lower. We delved abit into my emotional eating. But the outcome was,,,I know right from wrong,,,I know the right foods...the exercises. Can talk circles around some trainers,,,,and yet I am obese. My fault. I even eat healthy,,,then I eat more,,,unhealthy stuff. So if I can stop after the first part I would not be where I am today. Waiting for my chance to have this surgery... I sure didn't get a helping of patience...more like a second helping of junk food...ha

Is plastic surgery inevitable?
Ah Mary! Hope your back is better soon,,,and yes lunges are great,,,so are just sqwats. I lost 67 lbs about 10 years ago,,,and my legs and arms were great,,,I got into power lifting and so they didn't really go down in size,,,but got really toned and defined with muscle. BUT OMG my belly was disgusting. It looked like a deflated balloon. Felt like one too,,,well one filled with some Water... And I did everything,,,I was doing power crunches on some horrible machine that you add weight...I figured if I could of gotten rid of all the skin,,,and more fat I would of had some muscle...ha ha ok everyone would or could say the same. I read alot on skin,,,and benefits of what works and doesn't. Grapeseed oil sticks out..

Is plastic surgery inevitable?
hi ya Doddie,,, I know both my friends had to wait a year after they had lost their weight,,,there is a good chance the elasticity in your skin will do its job and there will be less to tuck or cut away.
-
Is plastic surgery inevitable?
I was told it takes a good year for your elasticity (sp?) to go as far as it will go. So after 1 year of loosing all your weight and your thighs aren't where they should be,,,chances are they won't ever be. I have heard of grapeseed oil helping,,,thinking its the same as Vitamin E tho. I have two friends who had the apron surgery done after they both lost more then 125 lbs. And I know both wish they could afford to get their arms done,,,and neck...and legs,,,and butt. I have another friend who never had to have surgery,,,not even the apron done. Angie

Hello from Calgary! Here's my story, introduction:
Hi Tyler,,, well to be honest alot of things I listened to in the classes were things that I had already knew. Like you I have done alot of reading. I did some research on Lap Bands before I went to my family Dr. Not saying this is a bad thing,,,it just reafirms all the information for me...and alot of times we had discussions which brought out many other thoughts. I went and saw Dr. Church and was told as of that time there would be no more surgeries that were not all ready books. They were capped out. So I am looking at 2009. I admit I was very disappointed. I was also disappointed to hear that Natalie is no longer with the program. We had some good talks. Angie
