  1. I found one at Rite Aid...Designer whey French vanilla. It has 18 grams of Protein and 2 grams of carbs. I am just five weeks out and so far I can't eat enough to get close to 60 grams of protein. I mix it with decaf, equal, three ice cubes and a bit of Torani Hazelnut SF Syrup. It tastes like a frappachino. I have also learned that GNC has a protein drink that is more like crystal light or Vitamin Water...it's called Isopure Zero Carb, it comes in twelve different flavors and I think it has 20 grams of protein. a

    post-op needs

Without a doubt, for me the most helpful tip for post op preparation was freezing soup in ice cube trays. I made some homemade soup and I also used canned soup. 2 0r 3 cubes = 2 0unces...pop it in the micowave for 30 secs and there is nothing to clean up but the bowl and spoon. This also was great for when friends/family came over to help me, it was easy for them to prepare for me. I am 30 days post op and I still use the ice cube trays because it's easy and I don't have to waste food...I can freeze it for another day. Good luck!!!

    Water/sippy cup

I took a sippy cup to the hospital but "Nurse Ratchett" took it away from me...she said I would take air in with my liquids and it would cause gas. I did use one when I got home because I just couldn't remember to sip.

    What is up with therapist

It sounds as if your therapist has a HUGE ego and feels threatened that you are getting information (that she/he couldn't possibly provide) from another source. I'd go to someone else...a bad therapist is worse than no therapist at all.

    Pre-op shakes question

Kelly, I'm just wondering what you eat to get all your protein in without the shakes. I would love to cut out my protein shake but without one each day I can't get close to 60 grams of protein(my nut said 60-80 ) eating 2 oz of food 30r 4 times a day. Advice please!

    Too early to start?

My surgeon told me not to start the liquid diet until one week before my surgery. I shopped around for a protein powder that I liked and had one shake a day. What I did do in advance was to increase my protein and lower my carbs so I would be somewhat used to that type of diet. Cutting out the carbs was much harder than going on liquids. By the time I started liquids I was so excited that it wasn't hard for me...each day of liquids brought me closer to my surgery date! date! Good luck!

    Calling all May Sleevers!

Hi all! I was sleeved on May 23 in LaGrange, GA. I had my one month follow up this week and I have lost 33 lbs! I can't figure out how to put the date of my surgery, etc. on my profile...I did finally get the ticker thingy set up. If anyone can advise me I'd appreciate it.
  10. Very well now. I had bleeding from the staple line one week out and had to have emergency surgery, blood transfusions, several days in ICU...but I made it through...I love my doctor. I had a follow up yesterday and I have lost 33 lbs! I started eating regular food yesterday and had a little chewing issue...I ate too fast and didn't chew well enough and I was uncomfortable for about three hours

Don't be so hard on yourself! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and remember what a great inspiration you are to others!
  14. I had bleeding from the staple line 7 days post-op. I had to have emergency surgery...I don't live in the same city where I had my surgery so it involved two different hospitals and two long ambulance rides. Initially it was uncertain whether i had a leak or bleeding; thank goodness it was bleeding...after surgery I was in ICU for several days and then moved to another room. I went home after a week. I am now 4weeks post-op and I'm doing fine, I have lost 28 lbs. I t was a very scary situation for my family and me.
  15. One week after my VSG I had to be rushed to the hospital...no blood pressure, dizzy to the point of passing out. A CT scan revealed that I had abdominal bleeding. After starting blood transfusions and stabilizing my blood pressure enough to get back in an ambulance, I travelled an hour to the hospital where I had my VSG. My surgeon was waiting for me and he operated imediately...blood transfusions continued for another 36 hours. I spent three days in ICU and three more on the surgical floor before being released. I am still very anemic, weak, sore and tired, but feeling a little better. I was sleeved on 5/23/11 and went back in hospital 5/31/11. I have not found anyone on this forum that has had a similar experience.

    FF Coffeemate

I am going to be sleeved on May 23 and I am on the liquid pre-op diet. I can have 3 or 4 sf instant breakfast shakes, sf jello, sf popsicles, broth and non carbonated caffeine free sugar free drinks. Do you think a little FF coffeemate in my decaf would be OK? Skim milk just tastes horrible in coffee. There is so much great info in these forums! Thanks to all of you!

I can't find sugar free...only fat free and lite, however the label says 0 sugar and 2g carb per serving.
