  1. Don't be concondescending. I read the whole thing a couple of times. Your first line "I am actually beginning to wish leaks on people." Do you think posting like this will help anyone? Your story could change peoples life. Yet, you post things like this. I don't understand. Leaks are awful, dangerous, and sad. But you are doing better now! Change the way you are and help people!

  2. I am actually beginning to wish leaks on people. This foolish behavior deserves consequences. Maybe not as bad as a life threatening leak, but something...I suppose I can be happy knowing that if they are so silly as to push their program directly after surgery, despite the horrific medical consequences they could face, I should be at least happy knowing they weren't committed enough and they will likely be back in two years whining about their weight gains.

Really, you ripped out most of your stomach and now you want to see if you can pop the dang thing because you feel you are immune to consequences. Smart...very smart!

Don't you think you are rude. Yes people know you had a leak. Everyone knows. But to wish it on someone. I think you need to take tiime away from this board. This is a support system. People ask questions just to ask for opions. Yet, you think it is okay to type you wish people can have leaks. You are rude. You could actually used your story to help people, but yet you wish people to have the same problem has you. Proudgrammy tells people how it is but she is nice about it. And it comes along way.

  3. My surgery on December 17th. Surgery went great, I was up and walking. Biggest obstacle for me at the hospital is using the bathroom by myself. With the RA it is hard to do normal hygeine care anyway. Add in IV's and drains and then well, thankful I have husband that didn't mind wiping me. They gave me stress doses of predisone all three days. On day 2 I started running a low grade fever. I never get fevers thanks to the predisone. It concern me. Doctors and nurses thought I was crazy having a 99.2 and in pain from it. I kept repeating that I am chronic steroid user. They dismissed it. I came home on Wednesday, still no problems from actual surgery. Just this little low grade fever. Thursday I started getting scared. My fever got up to 100.9 I call the on call doctor. Bascially told me they don't care till after 101. I am aggraveted, that they are dismissing me. On Friday afternoon I went to the ER. I know my body does not get fevers, ever consider lowgrade to most. I was dx with a partial collapsed lung and pneumiona. I am doing alot better now. But have a nice letter to give my doctor at my first post op visit. Cons having RA with the Sleeve-liquid medication is awful. just plain out awful. I can't wait till I can swallow pills again.

  4. It happens! I am glad you are okay. Per my surgeon if you must eat somthing and can't resist it. Just make it puree. I am 1 1/2 post off, and started puree food on Monday. Last night I wanted a little birthday cake. So I put a small spoon of it in the blender with a tsp of milk. Ate 2 bites and it gave me the tasted I wanted.

  5. For the ones that has had the leaks, do any of you have autoimmune problems? Or on any medications that may cause you not to heal as well? I have autoimmune disease and take predisone. I am terrified of having a leak, but the dr saids since I stop other medications I should be fine. Just wondering if they said why you imparticular may have had a leak.
