  1. I've never had acid problems in my life! Is it going to be forever now?
  2. .....and it kicked my butt ! I even have a desk job! I was sleeved on June 27th so was off 9 days after surgery....but it was all I could do on my way home to keep driving and not pull over to the side of the road and sleep! And I only have a 20 minute commute. Anyway, don't underestimate what major surgery and lack of food takes out of you. If you can stay home longer, do it and don't try to be a hero! My only saving grace is that tomorrow is Friday already!
  3. Deaths would freak me out too. You are important enough to only go to the best doctor! Do anything you can to get an excellent surgeon and care. Best of Luck!!
  4. Excellent! I'm 11 days post op and thrilled. Congratulations!!
  5. Hi there, My first day back to work was today and it kicked my butt! I have a desk job and it was quiet today but exhausting just the same. I went back 10 days after surgery and I think I would recommend a full two weeks to anyone else. Plus my incision still hurts. I saw my surgeon yesterday about it and he took the tapes off all the incisions causing them all to be sore ! He put a pressure bandage on my sore incision and showed me how to do it, and it has helped! Anyway, I got home, went straight to the bedroom, got on jammies and took a 2 hour nap!! LOL Feeling better now!!
  6. I started with the band 4 years ago and it was a good start but I hated every minute of it. The port hurt, I threw up a lot, had heart burn, etc. I never had a slip, but was generally very unhappy so during my last appt. with my surgeon he talked to me about the revision to the sleeve. I'm 9 days past surgery and absolutely giddy!!! I'm happy for the experience of the band because it got my eating in check. I know for a fact that I will not stretch the sleeve because I already eat less than I did before getting the band. But, with that said, if I were recommending a procedure to a friend of mine I would say get the sleeve for sure! Just be mentally ready to eat a lot less food. One thing I've found is I really have no appetite anymore which is a huge help! You came to the right place for help...Read what these wonderful people have taken the time to post. This site has helped me so much and BEST of luck to you in your decision!!
  7. I did the exact same thing. It helped me tremendously. I also bought the bean and bacon soup and ate just the juice. I did however find out that I'm totally full after about 3 tablespoons! Yikes! Just be careful not to stretch your stomach or pull staples. I don't even get eggs or refried Beans for 3 more weeks, then they have to be pureed! My doc is really tough ... ugh! Take care !!
  8. Hi Baytee, I did, and that made me make an appointment with my surgeon!! I saw him this morning and he could feel the lump too and said it could be becoming a hematoma, but it's definitely not infected or anything so he put a pressure dressing on it and showed me how to replace it daily so that should stop it. Hopefully !! I feel a lot better knowing it's not a hernia!! So I'll keep an eye on it and call him if it gets worse. Is yours all healed up now?
  9. Oops, I mean I lost 14 lbs so far, not 16! Girlfriend! You sound just like I did 2 weeks ago! I'm 8 days post op now and couldn't be more thrilled! I've already lost 16 lbs and feel great! Just wish I had done it sooner!
  10. Girlfriend! You sound just like I did 2 weeks ago! I'm 8 days post op now and couldn't be more thrilled! I've already lost 16 lbs and feel great! Just wish I had done it sooner!
  11. Wow! Well that should send your weight loss to warp speed! I hope it gets better soon though, or you are going to get weak. Really concentrate on getting that Protein down! Way to go walking 3 days a week! I haven't been good about getting on a walking routine, but I have been to the grocery store a couple of times with help, and I drove once. As long as I'm on the pain meds I don't want to drive. I stayed home today and will call the doc about this one painful incision. Sounds like it might be the norm based on posts over on the "lap-band revision" forum. Good luck and keep in touch! I talk to the nurs e and she said I have a double staple line.the left side of my stomach is where they used the big instruments. That is why I am sore and can only get liquids down. It will just take longer to heal.
  12. Hi everyone, I'm 8 days post op and thrilled by the way! I had lap-band in 2007 and lost 50 lbs in 6 months but over the next 3.5 years gained back 15. I hated the lap-band from the get go... My main complaint was pain at the port site. Well now that it's been removed, that particular incision is so painful ! Everything else feels great but that one incision has a small knot under it and gives me so much grief and pain that I still take my pain meds and it kept me from going back to work today. I'm planning on calling my doc... Has anyone else experienced this? Any experiences you can share would be so appreciated! Thanks
  13. They have solu-tabs, but my insurance gave me grief (they paid for the whole revision surgery but gave me grief about the ant-acid). ....So I asked the pharmacist what would be similar and comes in a tiny pill and he found something for me. It's been a life saver.
  14. Yikes! I have Anthem Blue Cross and wasn't required to get an EGD!! My band had not slipped, it just wasn't effective and gave me a lot of pain at the site of the port.....but it sure sounds like it's a good idea!
  15. Hi Barb, My doc prescribed Prevacid from the get-go. I have never had an acid problem but he said it can come on with a vengeance and he was right. I didn't take the medicine, and sure enough about 6 days post op it arrived. Now I take the medicine and have had no more problems. Give Doc a call, sounds like you're gonna need it. Good luck to you
  16. Hi everyone, Thanks for accepting me into the SoCal group. I'm a Cali native, Valley Girl, actually ughhhh gag me! LOL I'm giddy after having the surgery. I had lap-band in '07 and never did very well on it, and had lots of pain where the port was attached as well as everytime I ate anything. I was so thrilled when my surgeon mentioned the revision surgery to VSG. And this time my insurance paid for it !! My surgeon is Dr. Paya in West HIlls, but my insurance made me go to U.C. Irvine for the procedure. He's a "Fellow" at UCI so that worked out fine but it was so far away we got a hotel for Sunday and Monday night which worked out great. I found this site because once down there I could not get the half lyteley down! Every sip gagged me and I threw it up at one point. I panicked so I hopped on the computer and found this site. It was so reassuring to know that not everyone was required to do the bowel cleanse. I caught my breath and decided I would tell them at the hospital in the morning and if they wanted to give me an enema they could, but they didn't. They said it was no problem. Go figure! Anyway, my surgery was June 27th and I had planned to go back to work today but I'm having a lot of pain on the incision where the lap band port was located so I'm going to try to see my doc today to make sure it's not infected or herniated....then it's back to work. Desk job lucikly! Sorry for rambling! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Take care, Tippy
  17. Hi Manda! Welcome! I found this site the day before my surgery which was June 27th,when all of a sudden I panicked and needed help with a problem I was having that afternoon. I hopped on the computer and found this site. It was a life saver. Now I'm hooked! Great people and great information! Good luck with your surgery, keep us posted!
  18. That sounds perfect to me! Good luck on your surgery!! I'm 6 days post op, down 11 and thrilled!
  19. Hi, I did start out with the lap band in 2007 and lost 50 lbs in 6 months but in the last 3.5 years put back on about 15. I HATED the port and the feeling associated with your upper stomach being choked off. I had the lap band removed and got sleeved this last Monday and I'm already thrilled beyond belief. This just makes sense to me....take out part of my stomach, duh!!! I'm happy and doing great except where I always had problems, the port! That incision is still killing me! If it's not a lot better by Tuesday I will call the doc. I think it's because it was sewen right to the muscle so everytime I use my stomach muscles it pulls....even now that it's gone, the stitches must pull or something. Can't wait for it to be healed up! Good luck to all of you! You made the right decision in choosing the sleeve in my opinion!
  20. Thanks for the replies. Carina, I added some creamy soups and I already feel a lot better. I have never had any nausea either, just so sick of the clear liquids......Sungbyrd, I can get down a lot more than 8 oz a day! I can get about 16 oz of a Protein drink down over the course of an hour to an hour and a half. But I agree, how in the world do people eat solids? Wow! I like this so much more than the lap band though, and other than one incision (where the lap band port was removed) I have no pain. That one is a killer though. I was planning on going back to work on Tuesday but I'm going to take at least that day off and maybe Wednesday too. No reason to rush it. Good luck to both of you and keep in touch!!! :-) I'm going to click to add you as friends...
  21. Wow you look fantastic! I'm just 5 days post-op and you have just been a huge inspiration to me! I only told my best friend and my family because I feel the same way as you. I don't want everyone coming into my office and telling me to stand up so they can see how much I lost, or making comments about what I eat, or telling me the horror stories they have heard.. It's none of their business! Way to go and thank you so much for sharing!!
  22. Hi there, You haven't gained any weight ... you know how our scale weight can fluctuate hourly! Only weigh once or twice a week.
  23. Hi, I'm 5 days post op. Doc has me on Clear liquids for 2 weeks then full liquids for 2 weeks. BUT he said yesterday that I can have my Protein drinks with milk. I'm fine with Water because I don't like milk but here's my question. If I can have milk in my Protein shakes now, why can't I have creamy Soups? A creamy broth Soup would be sooooo satisfying to me right now.... Any ideas? Thanks!
  24. Sorry for all the words that ran together. I composed my story in word then copied and pasted it here...looks like it pasted wierd!
