eating too much!!! what do I do to stop?
I love this post. Way to be disciplined! I'm doing the same thing...measuring, weighing, and counting everything...but I feel I get hungry too quickly sometimes as well. I like the idea of drinking water and taking a walk. Thank you for sharing and reaffirming for me that I'm doing the right thing.

HELP
Several soups puree nicely too. My favorite is Campbells bean and bacon...the condensed version that you add a can of Water to. I put it in the blender and pureed it then heated it up and ate it with some 2% cheese sprinkled on top. At that stage I could only eat about 4 tablespoons of anything, including soup! My doctor gave me a surgery guide with about 100 pages of information in it. I would give your doc a call and ask if there's any guideline they can give you. Congrats on your decision!

What did you tell work?
Vacation. The only person in my company who knows is my partner in my department and she's very supportive and won't tell a soul. Now that I'm losing weight fairly rapidly I've decided that once I'm about 2/3 of the way to my goal I will tell people because there are a few who could really benefit from this if they choose, and our insurance pays for it. For right now though, I don't want people asking me how much I lost, making me get up and turn around so they can see me, or scrutinizing everything I eat and that's what they will do!

How many carbs?
Good morning all.... Just wondering how many carbs you all eat per day. This week I've been trying to keep it to 30 or 35 carbs a day but by 2:00 my energy is GONE. Yesterday I got so low....then had a dentist appointment and could hardly walk out to my car at 5pm. I wanted something sweet so bad and I couldn't stave off the craving so I drove through McDonald's which was the closest place before my 30 minute drive home and ordered a vanilla cone....then when I got to the window they said their ice cream machine was down so offered me a frappe. Like an idiot I accepted a small mocha frappe and sucked it down. Within 5 minutes I was experiencing what I believe to be dumping syndrome!!! I thought I was going to pass out. By the time I got home I was so sick. And I think it was about 8 million carbs which totally blew my diet So, how many carbs do you all eat per day? And do you have any ideas of something I can snack on in the afternoon at work that will give me a boost but not spike my carb intake? Thanks friends!

Disappointed!
You're kidding right? That's huge! It won't continue at 5 lbs a week and it shouldn't! 1-2 lbs a week is very healthy. Keep up the great work!

Protein bars
I found some great protein bars..called Power Crunch. They are 200 calories but only 10 carbs and they have 14 g of protein! The best thing about them is they are big so can last for 2 snacks, but they are really light and crispy, exactly like a "sugar wafer" cookie. And they are delicious! I've seen them at Trader Joes, Costco, Vitamin Shoppe, and even Ebay online...they come in about 6 different flavors. And they are big so lots of yummy crunching! Let me know if you want me to upload a picture of one.

A Very Useful Tool !!
www.myfitnesspal.com is an awesome website to check out. It's a free way to track your food, exercise, and weight loss and you can do it with friends! I love the database of foods, it's HUGE! Brand names, store names, restaurant items...absolutely every food is in their database and when you record your food for each meal it shows calories, carbs, fat, and PROTEIN! I learned that I'm getting a lot more protein than I thought, and also that I'm eating too many carbs. It's right in front of you to see. Today I tweaked my snacks and ate 46 fewer carbs! Very fun and helpful!!

how much weight did you lose after getting sleeve?
22.5 lbs in 5.5 weeks!

I am so mad at myself
I'm 5 weeks post op and have been allowed to applesauce and yogurt for only 1 week! I was on Clear liquids for 2 weeks, then full liquids for 2 weeks. Are you sure you are supposed to eat that already? You're still healing. I would give the doc a call to ask about the diet and if you are alowed to eat that already then I want your doctor!! LOL I'm sure you are ok...just listen to your tummy. Don't get discouraged!

Coffee??
I have my coffee around 5:30 when I get up and I make my protein drink before I leave for work around 7:00 and that works for me. I've always been able to drink coffee on an empty stomach though.
-
Need to take vitamins rest of life?
Yep! Small price to pay!
-
Coffee??
I started drinking coffee two days after surgery and I don't do decaf. I just drink a lot of water in between. I know that's not the right thing to do but I have to have my coffee! Good news is I can only drink half a cup now. And I only drink it in the morning, no more at night.

An update on my journey
The sleeve works better because you can only eat so much because your stomach is so small. When I had the band I learned that certain foods went down easier, and I still had my whole stomach so I could eat way too much. Now I can only eat a little bit. I LOVE my sleeve and I LOVE having that band out!!

My favorite thing about exercising
....is not ever feeling guilty about not exercising! I'm off today, and can enjoy doing nothing if I want to. Feels really good!

hamburger??
Wow! Wouldn't it be nice if there was a "standard" diet for us that all doctors used? Such wide variations from doc to doc. I love to buy really good hamburger meat from my butcher and make my famous meat loaf plus some patties out of the meatloaf mixture. The meat is so tender and delicious but my doc says not until 8 weeks out. I've heard others on here say they ate meatloaf in the mushy phase... I don't think would push it though. Beef is hard to digest. Good luck!

How many calories are we supposed to be getting ?
I'm 4 weeks tomorrow and I'm still supposed to be on full liquids and pureed soups. I've been puree'ing bean and bacon Soup and topping it with a little 2% cheese and it's very satisfying. Other soups I put in the blender and just pulse to keep them kinda chunky then I chew the heck out of them. Campbells chicken Dumpling ready to eat soup worked great because the veges are so soft. In the last few days I've aso eaten watered down refried Beans and mashed potatos...all have gone down great. I was getting so weak that I recently added scrambled eggs and they are going down fine and have helped me a lot (I can only eat half of one). I made french onion soup one day and instead of putting in onions I put in onion powder and about half of a hamburger bun for the bread, and topped it with some parmesan cheese and that was so good! I couldn't eat it all, but what I did eat was great! I'm planning to try tomato soup soon but I've had some problems with acid so I will crumble up some saltine crackers and let them get to pure mush first. Keep drinking your Protein drinks so you get enough protein too! I make my own using a heaping scoop of whey Protein Powder, 1/2 a packet of banana smoothie mix from the produce department (35 cal for half the packet) 1/2 cup of Water, a little vanilla, and 2 tbs of Peanut Butter. It's about 32 grams of protein and about 360 calories but even so, I'm only getting about 800 calories a day so I'm not worried about it LOL Try the egg drop soup recipe on the recipes forum. It's unbelievable delicious! I hope this helps you!
