  1. I had my sleeve in June of 2010. A year later I began having severe symptoms. Turns out I also have inflammation, but it is from bile and not acid. My stomach was apparently full of bile. We are now trying to schedule surgery in order to do a roux-en-Y on my small intestine. I am very anxious about this as I already have osteoporosis due to Vitamin D deficiency and I don't want to make it worse. I would suggest that your husband ask his surgeon if the inflammation could be from bile and not acid as this requires a different approach, both medically and surgically. My surgeon put me on Carafate which helps a little, but is not a long term solution for me. Hope this helps!

    in the dumps

Stacyt, It is absolutely the hypothyroidism that's making you so slow to lose, not to mention gaining back 4 lbs. Try and be patient as the meds need to be tweaked and take a little while to work. You will start to feel better and the weight will come off, I promise, once you get that taken care of. For info check out Mary Shoman, she is a hypothyroidism guru. Good luck and keep your chin up gir! You've done great.

    Oikos yogurt

I just want to say here, for anyone who hasn't tried it, that Oikos yogurt, made by Stonyfield, is delicious. It has 10 grams of protein and comes in caramel, chocolate and vanilla flavors as well as plain. I like the plain with vegies and the caramel is outrageously good. It's a great way to get your protein in.

    tired and weak

You just had major surgery. Your body needs time to adjust and heal. I went back to work after 10 days, but for the next 3 weeks I came home everyday and fell asleep. Some days I went out at lunchtime and took a nap in my car! Don't be so hard on yourself. Leave the hoovering to someone else if you can. Rest, rest, and then rest some more.

An inquiring mind wants to know

I had my surgery in Towson, Maryland at GBMC with Dr. Babak Moeinolmolki. He is wonderful. You can google GBMC bariatrics and their website will come up.

Hubby thinks he is in heaven now!!

I found the same thing! Hallelujah!!!! I have lost 25 lbs so far and I feel like the prettiest girl at the prom lol
  7. Thanks Tiff. I am not working out yet, but my job requires a lot of walking, so I am pretty active. I am trying to dial it back to 600 calories now. Maybe that will jumpstart things. Today is exactly one month since my surgery, so maybe I should just relax a little bit and let my body heal some more. On another note, I just want to say thank you for all you do on this site. I always enjoy your posts and find you to be extremely knowledgable and generous. Keep up the good work, it's wonderful for all us new sleevers to have you. Terry
  8. Hi. I'm 5'1 and was just sleeved on 6/9/10. I see on this forum that a lot of people are only taking in 600-700 calories per day. I have been eating 1000 - maybe that's why I seem to be stuck at a 25 lb weight loss LOL. Should I cut my calories back to 600? Also, in trying to meet my Protein requirements I seem to be taking in more fat than I would like. I want to stay below 30% of my daily intake, but seem to end up closer to 40%. Must be the cheese! Any advice would be welcome. Terry
  9. TerryFrances on June 9th!!!
  10. June 9th for me! First surgery of the day at 7:30 a.m. and apparently I get two surgeons for the price of one because I have adhesions. Keep your fingers crossed that we can do this laparoscopically and don't have to convert to open. I am sooooo very excited I don't know if I'll make it a week!

    My Sleep Apnea Cured!

I have been using a mask for several years and one of the things that I've found that helps is to look for sleep apnea forums online. With some masks you can boil them to make the plastic softer and more yielding against your face, but you need to check the manufacturers directions first. Also, make sure you are not wearing any moisturizer or lotion that can interfere with the suction. If the mask is holding by suction you don't have to make the straps too tight. Hope this helps! I love my CPAP, but I didn't always. :scared0:

    Finally posting a message

That would be great, thanks. I'm not sure how to do it though... is my email on my profile? guess I'd better take some time to read the how to section.

    Finally posting a message

Thank you all for your answers, especially you Katt. It makes sense to me now. Better safe than sorry! I'm still trying to figure out how much I'll lose by the time I go on vacation on August 21st! I'm 5'1" tall and weigh 208.5 lbs currently. My goal weight is around 125 to 135, but the doctors say I should be around 105-115. Too skinny for me!

I believe the test is to check blood flow to the left side of the stomach? At least that's what I think he said. I'm a little suprised and anxious that I'm the only one who is having this done, but, hey, I guess it's best to cover every possibility, right?
  15. After lurking here for the past 2 months, I am finally posting a message. I just got a date - June 9th - for my sleeve and I am soooo excited. I also have a question. Did anyone else have to have a pre-op CT angiogram of their celiac artery? Not sure why I need it, but I'm trying to schedule it anyway. Also just found out today that I have full blown diabetes. Well, hopefully it's short lived. I hope this adds my signature automatically
