    BCBSDE

I am also a state employee. I had the surgery almost 3 months ago with Dr. Peters. The surgeon's office handled everything for me. I never once called the insurance company. It was an easy approval process. I did the 6 month program as well. It was beneficial, but could be boring at times too! Who is your doctor going to be? The only time I did call the insurance company about the surgery was for them to tell me which surgeons were in-network and CHRIAS seemed to be the only ones.
  3. That is totally awesome...I can not wait until I get to onderland. 27 more pounds to go!!! Congrats on all your hard work!
  4. I am almost 3 months out and I definitely burp more than I used to...I was allowed to start creamy soups a week after surgery and long as they were strained.

    Post banding excersize

Try and get some cardio in. I know how you feel. I was walking 3.5-4 miles a day and currently (and for the past week and half) been waiting to get into the orthopedic's office because I messed up my knee. They told me know more exercising until I see them which is Friday. Ever since I hurt it, I am back to taking my naps everyday because I am just that tired. When I was exercising, I felt like I had all the energy in the world. I still lift weights, but to me that is not enough! I would try some walking/jogging or Wii Fit if you have one. Something to get you moving!! I was not cleared to lift weights until 6 weeks after my surgery, so hopefully, they will let you soon!
  6. I think it is such a great feeling when you go to the Surgeon and they tell you how well you are doing. Last time I went, I had to convince the nurse that I didnt have a fill and the PA told me that i am having the same results as a Gastric Bypass patient. That made me feel really good because I was working really hard. I have lateral pain in my knee which has slowed down my weight loss because I can not exercise until I go to the orthopedist next week and this is really depressing me, especially beings I go back to the surgeon 2 days after the ortho. I look forward to hearing his good words and probably won't be hearing them this time! Keep up the good work!

    Lost 12lbs, can't tell!

I was banded June 20th and have lost 52 pounds. I am just now noticing a difference in my clothes, well my pants. I def lost a lot of my chest which helped with smaller shirts, but the pants are definately just now starting to get a little big. I do not know about getting the fills because I do not have any yet. Give it time...you will definitely get to enjoy your smaller clothes.
  8. I am 12 weeks out and my stomach still makes those angry noises, especially at night when I lay down to go to bed!
  9. I showered the next morning, but I was not told that I couldn't!

    realistic expectations?

I have had my band for almost 12 weeks and have not lost 100+ pounds but feel I am on the road to doing it. I believe my success so far is from counting my calories (900-1200 a day) and also from exercise. I have had to stop exercising this week because I am having extreme knee issues, but I was still able to lose. Just not as much as I usually do. The band is there to help you, but you have to be willing to put in the work. You can do it if you follow the guidelines the doctor sets up for you! I look forward to hearing your journey...oh yeah, I should add that I do not have a fill yet. My doctor feels that I am progressing very well without it. I am not hungry in between meals and I am losing, so he is happy! I wish you much success!

    A question for the ladys

I was always irregular that is why I was on BC. Had to give that up 8 weeks prior to surgery, so I was not happy when I got my period the morning after surgery. I then went 6 weeks without one to only get a light one for 2 weeks. I talked to the NP about it and she said it is normal, but I am also now on the Depo shot which also can cause the same thing, so I am unsure of what it is, but I will not be getting the Depo shot again, so I shall see!

    What I dont miss

I don't miss soda...never thought I would say that. I used to drink 4-5 Mountain Dews a day!

    85 lbs in 1 year??

I started at the exact weight as you and almost 11 weeks later I am almost down 50 pounds, so I do believe it is a possibility. I want to be at 200 by Christmas...which would be 85 pounds in 6 months!
  15. I did come home with one and used it because it helps clear out your lungs!

    Decisions

I have had my band for almost 11 weeks and have already lost almost 50 pounds and plan on losing a lot more. I have also only been to my doctor's 3 times since the surgery. I do not know much about the gastric bypass surgery, but wanted to give you an idea of how I am doing with the band because I do not think it is as much work as you think it is and I am very happy with my results so far!
  17. I also got queezy. I think that was the worst part of the whole surgery!
  18. I took mine off after 2 weeks. That is what the hospital told me to do!
  19. shakey88

    Yay!

Congrats...I was banded on 6/20/11 as well and am very happy with the band too. I do not have any fluid in mine yet though....tomorrow is my weigh-in day. I hope I have the same or at least close success that you are having! Keep up the good work!

What's the scoop on eating and drinking

I wait 30 nmins before and 30 mins after! I do not know the effects of eating and drinking. I have not done that yet!
  21. I live in New Jersey...first an earthquake this week and I live very close to where the hurricaine is supposed to hit landfall again in Delaware. In fact, I work in Delaware. This is scary. I think I am packing up my healthy food and heading to my parents. They only live 40 minutes away, but not on the Delaware River like I do!
