  1. So I began my journey at 284.5 pounds and have since lost a little over 100 pounds with the assistance of my band...my brother who was 320 saw this and has started to exercise and watch what he eats and has lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks...feels good to know you are also helping your loved ones.
  2. Thanks...I have another 24.1 pounds to go until I am at goal and too am now more focused because it is getting so close!
  3. I drink the EAS ones as well every morning for breakfast. The nutritionist told me to keep anything I eat 5 grams of sugar or under!

    Nsv's Anyone?

I had three this past weekend...I went away to visit a friend I have not seen in 6 months. He plays basketball. After the game, he told me that he was looking for me in the stands and he did not recognize me!!! The other was while out buying an outfit to wear to the game, I was able to purchase a shirt in a medium and jeans in a size 12!!! Pretty good beings I was wearing a 2xl and a size 22 just 7 months ago! =) While wearing this outfit, I decided to take a pic and post it on facebook (first pic in a couple months), almost 60 comments with one saying how beautiful I was...It was a good weekend!

    Those Who Have Lost 100+

I started at 284.5 and am down 100.1 pounds in 30 weeks...I just work out a lot and eat smaller portions. I do not deprive myself of any food...in fact, I had a brownie today. I just knew I had to watch my calories at dinner! I have not updated my ticker because I do that on Saturdays (corny I know), but I was away for the weekend, so I have to wait until this Saturday!
  6. Even though I knew this would happen at some time, I do not think I was emotionally ready for it. For the first time in 29 weeks being banded, I gained weight this week. I have always lost weight even if it was only 0.4 pounds. I have even increased my cardio over the past 2 weeks, so this came to a surprise to me this morning. Oh well, I will get over it, but I was not prepared for this to happen.

    Frustration

Thanks...I have actually lost those 2 pounds since writing this. I do strength training every day as well as cardio. I do mix it up, but I am hoping the plateau is over!!!

    Milestone!

We have the same surgery date!!! I almost at 100 pounds lost as well and was hoping to have it gone by the end of the week, but with the 2 pounds I gained this week, I don't think it is going to happen!! I cannot wait to get to where you are!!! Congrats on all your hard work!

    Frustration

Me as the science teacher knows exactly what you mean...fat is less dense than muscle!

    Cereal

    I love Kashi!!!
  13. I love my band and only really have one negative about it. I feel like I never have time to do anything with others except on weekends. The amount of time I have dedicated to exercise has really caused a strain in some of my friendships. I workout before work, go to work, make dinner, exercise and then it is time for bed. I wish I had some additional time in the day to spend with friends.

    Frustration

Thanks...I think the frustration was that I am going away next weekend and I was determined to lose 100 pounds because I have not seen this person since July, like 6 weeks after surgery. I know everything will be okay...and I wish it was 0.4 pounds...I gained 2! Thanks for all your kind words!

    Different...?

I was banded in June...1st 2 weeks was clear liquids. Weeks 3 and 4 were liquids (protein shakes and such) and then weeks 5 and 6 were mushies...weeks 7 and 8 were soft foods and then I was allowed "anything" minus bread starting week 9. I survived...I think you will be okay without the protein for 2 weeks!
  16. I do exercise...I do the Wii Fit for 30 mins before work in the morning. Resistance training (free weights, resistance band, body ball, medicine ball, etc) for about 40 mins and at least 60 mins of cardio after dinner. I take one day off a week, usually Sunday. As far as calories, I try to stay between 1000 and 1200 a day, but I do not worry if I go over because some days I am under...thanks. Yeah no fills, but I am thinking I may need one soon. I am starting to eat a little more than I need to. Tomorrow I am starting back to mostly Protein shakes and one meal a day to see if I can get back on track before going for a fill. It is my birthday present to myself...more protein shakes! LOL
  17. I am about 6.5 months out and I can eat anything that I want. I do not deny myself food. If I want it, I eat it, just a lot less of it. I feel I am successful for two reasons...not denying myself food (If I did, I would eat way more of it when I finally gave in) and exercise. I am down 95 pounds in 28 weeks, so I think I am being successful, but like people are saying, everyone is different!

    Cool Travel Nsv!

awesome...I just realized the other day the towels fit perfectly around me now. It was a great feeling!

    Pasta, Anyone?

I do have pasta but it is whole-grain and I do not have a problem with it at all. I also do not have any fills which could attribute to being able to eat it. It used to be my favorite meal, but since the band my taste buds have changed dramatically. I went to the Cheesecake Factory the other night and ordered off the skinnylicious menu, not because I had to, but the food sounded so much better!

Is Anyone Else Tired All The Time?

I feel the same way, but as soon as I exercise, my energy is back! I had my iron levels checked and they are good. I have my yearly physical in a week or so. I will see what he has to say

    Plateau Ahead

I am experiencing the same thing now myself. It is frustrating, but I know it is all part of the process. I so wanted to be down 100 pounds in 30 weeks, but with there only being 2 weeks left, I don't see me shedding the 8 more pounds. I am lucky to lose a pound a week these days!
  22. You are still healing. It is okay. Everything will work itself out!
  23. I live in Jersey, but 2 hours away
  24. I have also overindulged myself the past 2 weeks between holiday parties at work, the actual holiday and friends wanting to go to lunch/dinner since they are visiting. However, I look at it this way. I know how to get back on track. Luckily, I have not gained because I have increased my exercise just a little to deal with this holiday fiasco. I have one more dinner to attend tonight and then it will be back at it.
  25. I have a 16 year old sister and she got a couple pair of new jeans for Christmas. She was trying them on and had a hard time getting them buttoned. The last size I bought were a size 14 and these were juniors size 13, so I said let me try them on. They went on with no problem and were lose at the waist. My mom even said they looked better on me. Needless to say, she was not happy at all, especially when she read my Facebook status that said "Best Christmas present is knowing I can fit into my 16 year old sister's jeans!" She told me I was embarrassing and she was starting her diet tomorrow, forget the first of the year!
