Banders: Do You Still Love Food?

I have been banded a little over 8 months and yes I still love food, just a different type. Before I was in love with fast food, but I couldn't even tell you the last time I had that! I now enjoy trying new healthy foods!

    Alcohol After The Lap Band

I am an occasional drinker and I have drank like 2 times since being banded. I will say I felt the effects of the alcohol very quickly! Like halfway into the drink I was feeling pretty darn good!

    Hairloss

Mine is still shedding, but not nearly as bad. It took up to month 7 post-op for it to slow down. I hope that it stops on its own!

Oh Boy Oh Boy I Wish

I must agree...When people tell me I am melting away, I am like do you not see this belly or these thighs?? Yes they are a lot smaller because I have lost a decent amount of weight, but I do not see it yet. I guess it takes time.

    New And Concerned

I have always had between 1000-1200 calories a day and I work out at least 2 hours a day. You may want to look at what those calories are that you are eating. Are they protein and veggies? That is the only thing that I can think of at this point. As far as the fills, I do not have one yet so I can not comment. Do not get frustrated that scale will start moving. Also you are still in the healing phase so make sure you are taking care of yourself!
  6. I also was averaging around 10 pounds a week and I am on a plateau as well. I also wear my fitbit and log all my food. Only difference is that I do not have any fills. I have not even lost 5 pounds in the last month, but still workout everyday. I have learned that if I vary my calories (usually one day a week, I eat more than 1200), it seems to help. Our body gets used to things easily. Have to switch up the workouts and the calories every once and awhile. Something to try that has worked for me in the past!
  7. My doctor suggested Miralax every other day...he said the colon does not become dependent on it!
  8. I have a Realize port because it is smaller than the Lapband port. I always knew mine was there, but it has just now started to show. When I first saw yours, I thought maybe it flipped. I would definitely contact your doctor!

    Exercise After The Band

I started walking 2 weeks after and weights 6 weeks after! I was told to go light on the crunches...I do notice pain in my port area when I do crunches, push ups.... Surgeon said if it really starts to bother me, he will move the port. So far, it is not unbearable!
  10. I found it at Walmart...once. I bought 2 bottles (1 for work and 1 for home). I haven't seen it since that time!

    What Is Onederland??

It is funny because when I get on the scale...I usually just look at the last two numbers and in my head I will say 2__ and I have not been in the 200's in like a month. I guess being there so long it is hard to realize you are not there anymore! It is a great feeling!
  12. Thanks...When I meant did to myself, I was referring to allowing myself to have gained as much weight as I did. I am proud of how well I have done so far. Getting frustrated with the slower weight loss now, but I know that I am at the last 20 or so pounds and that it is not going to be as quick as earlier, but I am going to keep at it. And yeah, I have 0cc in my band! The surgeon is happy and doesnt want to see me for 6 months! Feels good...thanks for your kind words!
  13. Congrats to you all...today I wore a size 12 pair of jeans that a friend gave me because she is now at a 10. My friend was like your legs are smaller are going to be smaller than mine...I responded with "they may be, but you do not want to see what they look like." The only place my skin is sagging is my legs. I have worked my arms so much that they are real tone...my belly is okay, but my thighs not so much. My calves are very defined...so frustrating noticing what I did to myself, but all will work out!
  14. hardly any exercise and ate not how I should of...but back at it tomorrow (I am going out of town today)! I just needed somewhere to write down my inexcusable actions, so I could hold myself accountable to getting back on track!
  15. Thanks...I am just frustrated even though I did it myself. I have found if I write things down, I hold myself more accountable! =)

    Repeat After Me....

I think it may also be the eggs...I remember in the beginning eggs were not my friend. They just sat on my chest...awful. Yesterday (7 months later), I tried scrambled eggs again...same thing. I think that eggs will not be a friend to me again at least scrambled or in egg salad!
  17. to stand on the Wii FIt this morning and listen to it tell me I am overweight and not obese!

    Awesome Nsv

Congrats...keep on the great work! I love when that happens! I found a really nice shirt I liked, but they only had a XL and a M...find out the M fit...just 7 months ago I was wearing a 2XL!!!

7 Months And 100 Lbs Down

Congrats...I also lost 100 pounds in 7 months! Such a great feeling!

    Soda Questions

I was a 3-4 a day Mountain Dew addict before banding. I have had soda maybe 3 times in the past 7 months, nothing really happened, but I realized how sweet it was and is not for me anymore!
  21. Thanks everyone...and now I know exercise is key...havent been able to do it for the past two days because of being sick and I am watching the scale go upwards instead of downwards...but I am not going to stress about it because as soon as my body is healthy enough, I will be back at it. I have been walking, just not the intense exercise I am used to!
  22. It has only been 7 months...lol. But I think the key is exercise. I exercise at least 2 hours a day. I love it...never thought I would say that. I am sick now and my body is all achy and I am trying to figure out how I can do it even though I know I can't. I did walk for 30 mins today, which is nothing compared to what I usually do. I usually do the Wii Fit for 40 mins before work...when I come home at least 1 hour 15 mins of cardio and then around 40 mins of resistance training (bands, weights, body ball, medicine ball). I do not use machines for my cardio...I love the Biggest Loser workout dvds. I have like 4 of them and I mix them up. I also keep my calories around 1100 for the day and if I go over, so be it. I do not deny myself any food that I might want because if I do, I will still want it and may eat more of it! Thank you everyone for your kind words...I still have 25 more pounds to go. It is funny because when I began this my goal was 175...now it is 160 and may become less the more I go! It is hard work, but I would not change my decision for anything. As for the fills, I am trying to avoid them until I need them. I do not think I need any yet, but when the time comes, I will have no problem getting one!

    Lap Band Or Realize Band?

I decided on the Realize band because of the lower-profile port...My surgeon said most women pick the Realize band for that reason and that most men in his office pick the Lapband...I had done research before I went in and knew what I wanted.

    So Frustrated...

My parents had my brother's graduation party a week after I was banded...talk about temptations. I told them I was not going to come, but they got mad, so i went and was miserable, but it will get better. I now eat whatever I want...just smaller portions!
