  1. I've been googling all night too! It's crazy how common it is! I'm just hoping I can use my surgery as a crutch. I'm definitely gonna ask for a more sensitive test for that reason. I hope it works because I hate that they look at me like I'm selling my meds or something, because without them my housework would never be done and I have a toddler to run after...ugh it's just so frustrating!

  2. Hi everyone. I'm almost one year post op on the 26th this month and still have chronic back and neck pain that radiates to my limbs from a car accident 8 years ago. 7 years ago I had back surgery and still have 2 slipped discs in my neck. I receive radiofrequency ablation where they burn my nerves on my lumbar annually and epidural injections in my neck. Because NSAIDs are out of the question because of my vsg contract I have to resort to narcotics, norco. I'm on a contract for my meds with my pain management specialist and have urine tests monthly to get my script. The last 2 times it came back negative! I take my meds, my family sees me doing so, I need them to be able function :( I try not to take them if I know I'm gonna be driving though, especially with my son in the car because in Cali you can get a DUI for doing so. Has anyone else had this problem?! Could it just be not absorbing as well? If anyone has any links to pages I can take to my dr. I would appreciate them :)

  3. If you want fish tacos hit up blue Water market and grill off the 5 near airport, they are amazing! So is the fish n chips and onion rings...even though I could only eat one lol! Portions are big, my unsleeved hubby could only eat 1 taco. It was also on DDD(diners, drive ins and dives of food network) http://www.bluewater.sandiegan.com/

The best Mexican food is Casa de Pico off the 8 in east county. This restraunt used to be in old town but needed more room or it's awesomeness lol! Everything here is amazing! http://www.casadepico.com/

There is also a great diner that was on DDD too called studio diner. I love this place pre and post op! This is the place i chose for my bday meal...its that good! Pot pie, meatloaf, burgers and more! http://studiodiner.com/

Send me a MSG if there is something in particular your looking for!

  4. Hi everyone...so happy to hear everyone's successful stories! I'm doing great as well, today I weighed in at 196.8 that makes me down 25 lbs since surgery on 3/25! All my size 16 pants are loose but the 14s aren't fitting just yet. I feel wonderful and so happy I have my sleeve <3 I'm eating about 1/2cup a meal and drink a Protein Shake daily, I find that I eat cheese or hard boiled eggs for Snacks. I also just found out a crunch gym is opening soon near me so I'm going to join this weekend! Until then I'm going to continue my walking and hand weights. Keep up the good work everyone!

  5. Finally after a 2.5 week stall (ugh how dreadful) where I was ranging from 205-207 I weigh in today at 203!! A size 14/16 as of this week as well!!!

Me too! Think we might be VGS twins lol! I was out of town this weekend but weighed in this morning at 203 and then again tonight at 201.5...woohoo! Hello onederland, here I come :)

  6. I drink Old Orchard Healthy Balance apple juice, only as a treat or when I can tell my blood sugar is a bit wacky.

Per 8 oz 25 calories, 0 fat, 5g carbs, 0 Protein. It's about the lowest carb juice I've found, and that makes it good to me.

You can drink whatever juice you want. You might want to cut it with some Water, and if you're recently post-op you might want to avoid citrus.

I agree...they make the best juice! It's the only juice my 14 month old will drink too lol. Other than that I get the ocean spray drink packets to mix with Water since I'm water sensitive. I really enjoy the blueberry lemonade one.

  7. So I was out of plain Greek yogurt :( so used nf mayo and reduced fat cream cheese instead and I gotta say it was pretty good...to bad I can't drink a diet root beer with it lol! I was able to eat about 2tbls. How much is everyone else able to take in? Does anyone know when you can eat toast...because I'm craving an egg over medium with a bit of toast to dunk in the yolk.

  8. I can't say everything tastes different, but I definitely have problems with some things that seemed fine before surgery! I cars it drink plain Water anymore, and I can't stand the thought of taking my chewable vitamins anymore. YUCK! So I am looking for some high quality non- chewables right now. So glad I didn't buy the giant economy size!

I'm mid week 3 post op and can't drink plain water either anymore. I just make sure to always have drink packets with me...the ocean spray ones are soooo good, especially the blueberry lemonade! And for Vitamins I take the vitafusion gummies...I just chew the heck out of them and have no problems at all...plus they taste like candy.< /p>

I'm two weeks post op and couldn't tolerate the chewable vitamins a 3 days post op. I bought a prenatal Vitamin w Iron. It has 150 iron not quite two 100 plus close. I hope that once I'm on solid foods I can then tolerate the bariatric vitamins

Hang in there, it gets easier :)

I'm two weeks post-op. I'm on the puree stage. I'm having somewhat of the same problem. It just feels like nothing is as enjoyable. Everything I ate pre-op tasted great to me (which is why I ate so much) but now it's as if I'm eating just to get food in me but theres no satisfaction there. Everything seems just.. bland. Fustrates me because I have so much head hunger lately that I would think as soon as I get some food in me I'd feel a lot better. I guess it's just not the foods my body is craving for.

I'm on mushies and hate the bland taste too :( except yesterday my mom made meatballs in a Mexican style Tomato sauce...and omg sooo good for the almost tablespoon that I ate lol! So I'm thinking more spices might be what I need. What frustrates me is the Carl's Jr commercial for the jalapeño patty melt...talk about head hunger :( today for lunch I'm gonna try and make some buffalo chicken salad with a bit of blue cheese crumbles and Greek yogurt...fingers crossed it comes out good!

  9. Gotta tell you....I had my sleeve done in Tiajuana 3/15 and it was rainy and cold the whole time I was there! I was not expecting that kind of weather, I thought I was going to FREEZE!

I don't know what was up with the weather out here...I'm just glad we are back to the normal low 70s :) Yesterday was beautiful and I went to the zoo with my family and husbands cousins family. The big plus was it was the first day I didn't need pain meds, the bad news was I overdid it and today my back hurts sooooo bad(previous back surgery). Other than that I feel great and am down 8lbs since surgery!

  10. Thank goodness! I am having the same issues and I am 3 days post-op. COnfused about how to get in Protein when I have to be on clear liquids ? The only protein I have is from pre-op when I drank Protein Shakes w the powder. I am sipping constantly and I actually think I feel hungry or it could be gas,I have no idea how to distinguish. When I do drink, every other sip seems to case some pain temporarily and I have gurgling...maybe I need something heavier ?Feeling weak and tire easily. I also feel like if I don't sit up straight it bothers me, as in some pain when I drink.....does any of this make sense? I welcome all help and comments :0)

I would of thought I wrote this lol! I felt the same way at day 3. Luckily I'm able to drink protein shakes and think it really helps. If you have to be on clears maybe you can try the Isopure protein drinks...they taste horrible IMO but it might help your energy. Just keep telling yourself it gets easier :)

  11. I'm 3 days post-op and have not yet been able to meet my current Protein goals (30 - 40gm) or Fluid intake (40 oz) even though I feel like I'm constantly sipping.

I've not yet felt hungry, nor thirsty. Today I got in about 22 oz of Water, maybe 4 tbls of yogurt (about 2 in the a/m. and about 2 more in the p.m.), 5 oz Protein Drink (these go down a lot harder than water), and two or three baby spoonfuls of Jello.

I don't yet know what "full" feels like with this thing, and am probably undereating/drinking, but I don't want to push it this soon post-op.

I'm not particularly tired. Yesterday and today I spent the majority of the day outside of the house. Grocery shopped yesterday, window shopped today, though I go slow and use a cart. I have one incision that is causing most of my pain. If it weren't for that one, I'd feel about normal (except the eating changes).

Today was the first day for "thick liquids" on my post-op diet: yogurts, puddings, etc.

It gets easier! Don't forget you can mix Protein powder into pudding. I'm drinking Premier Protein rtd cans that have 35g of Protein a can...they are great by the way! And don't forget Greek yogurt is full of protein. I don't know how you manage Water, I can't tolerate it at all.
