  1. I was sleeved the same day as you!

You are supposed to have bowel sounds, that's what the doctor's and nurses listen to in your abdomen.

I had some loud growls this morning and i felt hungry i had 2oz of strained cream Soup and it stopped.

I am praying for you to feel better soon.

I had my VSG surgery on Monday August 1st. When they were wheeling me out the recovery room my stomach was growling. My surgeon said my surgeon said I did so well I could go home on Tuesday. I was told 64 oz of Water and 60 grams of protien shake.

My stomach and bowels growl and make noise constantly. I can't drink hardly anything. I have managed half a bottle of Water today and half a can of protien shake. I feel hungry. I honestly didn't expect to feel hungry...and i couldn't even eat a sugar free popsicle.

    is this normal?

  2. Hey to all the AA's!

Day 3 was good to me until I jumped up and went running errands.

I went to drop some shoes off to my sister and to get to her apmt its a steep set of stairs. I walked up pretty fast, passed her the shoes and came back down.

Then I went to kroger, instead of me just getting what i needed and leaving I thought this will be my walk for the day.

When I got in the car I felt some discomfort, figured I just needed to rest. I took a nap and woke up the same if not worse off.

I took some pain meds waiting for it to kick in.

The abdominal area pain/tenderness I expect. however this pain when I swallow is odd, not so much a pain but odd discomfort. it feels tight under my breasts and when i swallow it either gets more painful or i get hiccups.

Is anyone else feeling this odd discomfort?

  3. hey friends!

    Quick update.

I arrived early to the hospital and to my surprise my surgery started early. I was in my room to see 1/2 of the noon news.

I slept most of the day monday, I woke up every 3-4 hrs and would req pain meds then drift back off.

I get this pressure like discomfort under my breast area that makes it hard to get comfortable. I was able to do i chips and sips of Water by late evening.

This morning I woke up at 430 and was unable to go back to sleep until 6ish. I slept on and off most of the morning. I was discharged around 130 this afternoon.

I took a nap once I got here, when I woke up i was on my stomach and in pain, i then threw up. Now I have these hiccups that are annoying and uncomfortable. I will admit that i am a bit cranky.

Today i have eaten some vanilla pudding, crystal light, strained cream of chicken Soup, Decaf unsweetened ice tea and some peach Jello no more than 3 oz of each thing and they have been spaced out. sucking on ice chips and sipping Water to try and stay hydrated..........that's all for now my friends!

  4. hey I'm @ Jewish monday for my sleeve w/ dr fegelman.

Maybe we will see each other.

I'm cooking! Like crazy, i'm cooking. Making guloush, chilli, cauliflower and such, to puree for meals after i'm home and allowed pureed foods. am i nuts..well probably! but thinking it was a good idea to make stuff up ahead of time. Made Chilli for me then boiled the Pasta part and added it for the family for dinner tonight. pureed the cauliflower for me, so far it looks ok. Nothing like making up a bunch of hot meals on a 100 degree day.

Sad part is, i'm hungry now..moreso than the last few days...got to keep my eye on the prize!

Good luck to all us August people in the next few weeks...we can do this!

  5. i have been on a post op diet for a month, lean cuisines and Protein shakes 5-6 small meals a day, I can eat up until midnight tonight then npo. I am doing carnation instant Breakfast (sugar free).

I made a list but i called it the things i won't miss about being 100+ lbs.

I am a federal employee and have been on furlough for a month so that is one plus i have no set time to be back to work. however my father is having open heart in a few weeks so i am praying all goes well and that i have no complications so i can help out with his recovery.

    BigSexxy,

What are your preop instructions? Mine is 2 day of clear but I started this afternoon cuz like where you are it's just so dang hot!:o I take my bowl prep on Sunday afternoon. I had the doc write out my pain and blood thinner scripts so I could pick them up while I was in Kansas City this week. I had the Pharmacy add flavoring to the lortab liquid. I hope I can get it down. LOL. I have Protein samples, Isopure liquid, broths I got from trader joes grocery and just need to get SF popsicles tomorrow. I am taking off about 2 weeks.

Have your written out your "12 reasons I am doing this" list so if we are in pain and are says WTH?! we can remind ourselves why we are putting ourself thru this?:D I am glad the work week is over so I can concentrate on me and all my sleeve sisters for August!

  6. August took its sweet time arriving!

I don't think I will sleep much tonight, if I didn't have to take my son to preschool before I go to the hospital I would be extra early!

Thank you to all who gave a kind word and that have sent out prayers and good vibes.

My surgery is to start at 1055am update to follow!

  7. This weekend has been longer than anyone I have ever known. What time are you sched for? I have to be @ the hosp 830 surg time 1055.

    Hi Everyone,

Well, it is almost here - the day that i have waited so long for - surgery day! :P

I feel like i am at the top of the rollercoaster, just getting ready to go over the edge of the big drop - my stomach has butterflies. I have to admit, I am a little giddy with excitement.

This weekend has been the longest in my life.

I am scheduled for Monday morning and hope to be home by Tuesday afternoon.

I will let you all know how it goes.

I will say a prayer for all the VSG champions!!

my doc has no clear liquid requirement, I haven't had much of an appitie this week, its been so hot I have been drinking lots of Water and trying to drink my Protein drink.

I'm so excited I have a sleeve sister!

BigSexxy we will be Sleeve Sisters! :D What time do you have to be at the hospital? Do they have wifi in your room? Hubby and I will leave at 7:30am in order to be in KC at 10:00. Started my Clear liquids today. I will be thinking of you!

  10. Have you heard the c section thing also? I truly hope it's true, but even if it's not this will be worth it cause I hate not being able to be as active as I would like to with my son.

Funny you say nervous.........I'm not nervous and I think it's because my daddy has to have bypass on 8/11 so I think I'm so focused on getting myself ready to be here for my family It hasn't set in. I hope I'm not a mess on monday morning!

How awesome! I can imagine your excitement and nervousness all combined! Will be looking forward to updates and seeing well things went for you. I am glad to hear the c-section remark. I had a horrible time recovering from mine and know that if I can survive that? I'm golden! LOL

  11. Monday is the day. I am excited, never before have I wanted to rush the weekend along!

I have been reading allot of posts and watching you tube video.

I have everything ready except my bag for the hospital.

I heard some ppl say that a c section is worse in pain and recovery than vgs, i hope this is true because I had no issues with my c section or my tubal a few years ago.

Just wanted to share what I am feeling! Thanks for listening.

  12. I have been a member for a few weeks and have been doing a lot of reading but no posting.

It has taken me 2 almost 3 yrs to decide to have the procedure done.

I have hbp, pre diabetic, elevated cholesterol and I have to take ibuprofen and muscle relaxers for my lower body joint pain.

I will be 35 this fall and I am ready to reclaim my life, I can't keep up with my 4 yr old and I often opt to stay home because I feel uncomfortable with all the weight I have put on.

I am 5'10 and 340lbs. Although I have been plus sized most of my life I was smaller at 200lbs. Since the birth of my child I have yet to get under 300lbs.

I found out Friday (6/25/11) that I have gotten approval for surgery after a month of waiting. In a week I go in for pre surgery counseling.

I am hoping that I can get a date for late July early August.

I am excited and nervous at the same time. I am worried about excess skin, I know some people who have had the procedure and they have not had issue with it and i am hoping that if i do have any that it will be minimal. I have been considering doing boot campy pre surgery, would this be of any help?
