  1. At 8 weeks post-op, my energy has skyrocketed and my only regret is not doing this sooner. I'm 43 with 2 teenage sons. I don't ache when I get out of bed in the morning, I sleep like I did pre-child days, I have a sense of purpose in my step. I think you need to remember that a 'bypass" is FAR more complicated; both surgerywise AND side affects. With a sleeve, I can eat whatever I want (choice wise) with virtually no side-effects. I take Vitamin supplements...but that's it. In another month or so, I hope to basically "forget" that I have had "surgery" and just eat like a thin person. As for the grouchies...it's true that hormones can park and hide in fat cells and you are now messing with their little habitats! :-) Good luck to you.
  2. Interesting. Keep us updated and good luck!
  3. Yup, love my cup-a-joe in the morn!
  4. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Amazing!!! Congrats to you...just thrilling!
  5. I'm SO happy for you!! I think this calls for some pictures, don't you?? (Pleeease?? We love pictures!!!)
  6. Here's my list: Yasso Frozen Yogurt Bars Kirkland Brand Turkey Breast Deli meat " " Ham Baby Bell Lite Cheeses Laughing Cow Lite Swiss Wedges Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage Links (my whole family likes them, so big box works for us) Beef Jerkey Original Amylu's Sweet Carmelized chicken Burgers Jarlsburg LIte Swiss cheese Slices B12 sublingual Vitamins (Natures Bounty) Calcium Citrate (Kirkland) Childrens chewable vitamins I haven't purchased, but need to get the Fiber packets (like Diane gave you in Mexico)
  7. Forget the "I feel bad..." Nope. You are shopping for a life altering procedure. You need to feel good and confident with your choice, because even after you've met it, made it, slept in it, etc., you will be as married to it as you are to your hubby! Just sayin' The sleeve is PERMANENT. Not like "permanent" as it refers to a level 3 hair color...but permanent as in, forever!
  8. Nice! hahaha You ARE something else...I've heard similar. My mom keeps making these sort of comments...it's my que to make a "run for the border" comment, referring to the fact that I went to Tijuana for surgery...it never fails to make us laugh til we cry. I'm wearing it as a badge of honor!! All the best to you! Susan
  9. Yes indeed, QUITE a difference!! Good for you!
  10. Let's look at a different number... For the total you want to lose, you have knocked out 1/3 of the total!! Holy moly! 1/3!!!
  11. Thanks for the replies! I don't eat my exercise cals, although I am hungrier now that I've added strength training. IN light of the fact that I am "toning" and not "building" I'm not interested in truly adding more calores. That said, "everyone" who "doesn't know" about my sleeve has a comment to make about my workouts. Seems like everyone is an expert. So, I'm staying the course and will learn how to manage my increased hunger; perhaps with more nutritionally dense foods.
  12. How wonderful for you both!!! Congratulations...I wish you THE VERY BEST year ever!!! You are radiant. Thanks for sharing and being such an inspiration!! Thank you both for your service to our country too!!!
  13. Fantabulous!!! Good job! hahahahaha YES, less of your legs to shave IS an NSV fosho!
  14. Ok...It's probably been covered before...beat to death maybe, but the question on my mind is: Do you eat part or all of your exercise calories? If yes to either part or all, what's your "formula"? If yes, what is your best "guesstimate" on the impact this has had, pro or con, on your weightloss journey. Thanks in advance!
  15. Still working out the bugs in my "routine" but at 8 weeks, it looks like this: 4-5 times per week 30-45 mins of aerobics 3 day's of weights (lower weight, higher # reps) So far so good...but again, I'm 8 weeks out so we're in the 'easy money' time anyway I guess...not that it's "easy" but you understand...
  16. I am SO thankful for this site...and my sleeve! Seriously can't imagine what it would be like to be sleeved but without this awesome place. It's a GREAT combination like Protein AND water! I am 1 day shy of my 8 week surgiversary...and I'm feeling completely gob-smacked at the number I suspect/hope to log tomorrow for a weigh-in. It's a number I wouldn't have even DARED to "hope for" in 8 short weeks--or just 56 days. The anticipation is delicious!!! Thank you all for being a part of my journey. In the immortal words of Rachel Scott, you have started a chain reaction!
  17. I don't think you will have a problem with antibiotics unless you can't swallow pills, and then you could have a liquid.
  18. Not too weird at all. I'm glad things were resolved with nothing major... Good for you writing a letter...sometimes people make a difference and never know it. And for what it's worth, your inside beauty DOES shine here too!
  19. Pretty typical day for me: BF: 1 egg omelette with a Tbspn of Wendy's chili and some shredded 2% sharp cheddar, splash of tobasco Snack: 2 Kavlis Crispy Garlic flatbreads with 1 wedge of laughing cow cheese Lnch: 1/2 Amylu's Carmelized Onion chicken Burger diced and sauteed with some veggies, 1 Tbspn unsalted peanuts, and just enough Kung Pow Sauce to cover Snack: Wendy's side salad with low cal vinegarette dressing Dinner: 3 oz Fish or chicken breast with baked tomato slice, fresh basil and mozarella sprinkles Dessert: Yasso Frozen Yogurt bar
  20. Slow down... Not only are you newly sleeved, but you have a baby? Good grief, I'm sweating just thinking about the state of your bod and hormones. Hope you are carrying a waterbottle and lots of crystal light packets or, better yet, something with electrolytes? Smart Water, gatorade?
  21. It absolutely blows my mind when I see success stories like yours...because I think we ALL doubt at one tme or another!!! Congrats and thanks for posting!!! You know we fiend for pics
  22. Nice!! What a lovely pic... Congrats on the loss, nice bonus!!
  23. Get a load of you!!! What a change...you look great! Totally amazing.
  24. Loouuuu, be encouraged, I totally agree that it is the fasting that is playing with your body. Put the whole issue out of your mind for now (easier said than done, I know!) I'm so glad you posted because I too am entering a 21 day period of fasting and with my new sleeve, have wondered how this may go for me...I obviously do NOT want to stop my workouts--particularly the strength training. Cardio you can pretty much pick up again without too severe reaction from your body, but weights are a different story. Break it down sister! lol At 4 months, 11 days...your body was probably just settling into a nice little pattern and then you messed it up with fasting. lol I mean that in a respectful way. Don't worry...I'm sure as soon as you get back into a more regular routine, things will improve. I've no doubt that even your sleep schedule is probably been affected! Wishing you the best!! Susan
  25. I'm not going to lie, the first 12 hours sucks. After that, it was all good for me. Take it slow as far as food goes, listen to your body. There is NO rush...it WILL happen. Good luck!
