  1. Thanks Darlis...this post is a couple weeks old. I was doing all those things you suggested, getting at least 70g Protein per day and taking all the Vitamins, including sublingual B12. I think it was just normal "jet lag" so to speak, from the detox, low low blood pressure (didn't see the drastic change happening so soon, because I didn't factor in the 'no sodium" affect of my diet...duh!!), the remnants of the anesthesia...and probably the "exhale" from having this climatic event over in my life. Anyway, for anyone else following the thread, I feel fantastic. I am starting week 5 post-op as of Thursday, 8/4/11.

    Help w/ Post Op Diet

Hey Peppercma, I have sort of drawn middle of the road between the two. Firstly, I listened to my bod though. I had FF milk on day 8, and on day 13...I had Protein shake...and I think that's the day I started runny cream of wheat. The next day I had runny mashed pots...I never had an issue as long as I listened. I sort of took week 3 and had thick liquids, ricotta bake, all the way to puree style stuff. By the end of my 3rd week, I had tuna salad (pretty mushy and done in the cuisinart); my thickest food yet. It didn't move 'great'...but chicken salad did. I also had scrambled and soft poached egg that week. The beginning of the 4th, I had meatloaf (OMG) and strangely, beef moved better than tuna. Chicken, baked fish, they all are a "go" for me. I'm 29 days today, just starting week 5...that's where I'm at. I think I am about 4 day's ahead of the fastest schedule? Anyway...that's just me. I really didn't see much difference between "thick soups" and purees except the content of such. I'm almost hitting 90 oz Water daily too. How are you doing hon? Susan

    construction work

HAHA I thought this was going to be a post about before and after PS It will be 4-6 weeks before I'm sure they release you to lift heavy stuff. A lot of us are drinking fluids like "normal" at about 3weeks post. We target 60-90 gr Protein per day to protect our muscle, but you would probably need more. Good news is Protein shakes = Fluid = hydration. Check with your team of professionals...that's their forte. Good luck.
  4. Congrats, you are the picture of health!! It must be a great feeling to wear a size 4, pregnant. That's crazy!! haha

  11. I'm sorry you feel this way. It's emotionally exhausting to feel like everyone has you under their emotional thumb... I use to try to please everyone and it burned me out. You are not a failure. You know you weren't given an instruction, right? So how can you carry the burden of someone elses mistake? How can you let THEM make YOU feel like a failure? I don't think your Dr. thought you were perfect and now, because of this he has suddenly discovered you are not. If it's a deal breaker issue...you've got nothing to lose and need to find your voice. If it's a wedge between you, again...you need to bring it up and tell him how you feel. If it's not that big of a deal as far as safety, surgery, and follow-up go...then I think you need to have the grace to be kind to yourself and let this one go. Scrape your shoe and move on; because it's not worth the effort you could be spending on getting ready for pre-op and recovery. Don't let the things out of your control, have control. Focus on what you need to do, should do, want to do... Best of luck
  12. Wow, yes...that's a dynamic lot of emotions! Good for you though...I say, check you out all you want! lol I love that you didn't spill the Beans and tell the PT. How fun of you. Wish I were a fly on the wall the day he figures it out. hahaha Congrats on such a lot of hard-work, I'm sure!
  13. Lindsey, It totally CAN Be a big deal if you are passing stones...Nasty nasty nasty side effects when a stone is going through your system, not to mention if you get a blockage. Glad you got it checked out!

    Rationally Irrational! Stall continues…

Thanks Karen, Thanks Melissa. I'm trying to not let it bother me... I am not on speaking terms with my scale and it has been banished to a different bathroom. I have decided to weigh once a week (until THAT ticks me off...then maybe once a month! lol).
  19. OMGosh, I’m going to be the ONLY sleever who never loses another pound! (SHUT UP! ) It’s truuuuuuuuuuueee. (I said, SHUT UP! You are not…it’s virtually impossible. NO, it’s TOTALLY impossible!) What am I doing wrong??! (Nothing! Would you stop?!) (Are you crying??!) …*sniff*…no…. (Remember when pastor said, “Picture two dogs fighting. Which dog is going to win?”) Yeah (Remember the answer??) Yeah, “The one you feed.” (Good girl, DO NOT give in and feed the fear!)

Go mamma! Glad to hear things have gone so well...
  21. Yes to everything Jen said.. How will a gastric bypass help? Seems pretty radical. Maybe go back to liquids for a couple days. Are you drinking Protein shakes? Has your surgeon done any post-op tests??

    2 Early NSV's (4 weeks Post-Op)

That's a good word Myrori! Thank you very much!! Intersting thought on the exercise...I've actually stopped the treadmill and just tried to move more in the day BECAUSE of the supposed calorie deficit. I was thinking along the same lines as you...that my poor body is in shock enough, be kind and give it a couple days off. We'll see, I haven't been on the treadmill in the same amount of days I haven't weighed. lol
  24. I've been a little reserved over the whole dreaded "3 week stall" and so I am trying to encourage myself. This is what occurred to me: 1) I haven't weighed in 3 days (YAY for me) Does that count as a NSV or is it an anti-NSV? lol 2) I have successfully gotten ALL my Protein in since the day I started Protein drinks and am now able to do it with only 1 Protein shake per day They aint fancy, but I'll take 'em!
