  1. When your sister in law that hasn't seen you in months (lives out of state) walks past and didn't reognize you. Also, when you actually default to going into the "normal" stall in the public bathroom instead of the handicap stall.

    backing out

Not sure how old your kiddos are, but for me I will NEVER forget the moment my 8 year old son hugged me and said "mom!!!! My hands touch when I hug you now!!" and my 4 year old daughter told me "you're a little momma now!". Still makes me tear up even now. They still hug me all the time to make sure I'm still shrinking. I know it is scary, but trust me when I tell you that you ARE doing this or your family as well as yourself. I have so much more energy now and take them on bike rides, etc. I'm the "fun" momma now instead of the tired momma. Just hang in there and try to let yourself focus on the excitement of it. Get yourself a goal outfit and hang that puppy in a place where you'll see it every day. my ONLY regret is that I didn't have this done years ago!!
  4. I honestly don't understand what you're trying to say here? I also take vitamins and B12 daily and never said anything about that. I only replied because I thought you were being judgemental of me mentioning soft drinks and you ended your reply to me with talking about how people go back to their old ways and regain. I was in no way being judgemental of you, but I did feel that my original reply must have needed clarification if it made people think I'm falling off the wagon and going back to my old habits. Sorry if my reply was offensive. It was not intended to be judgemental or offensive at all.
  5. Dasme, I honestly haven't missed carbonation that much, but have had a few sips of ginger ale after letting it sit out for a while so it's not quite as fizzy. The original poster was asking what we "can" eat when fully healed. My surgeon had a strict plan during the healing process, but our meal plan after that was pretty much anything you can tolerate, with a focus on Protein. I'm sure that the original poster's surgeon is going to give their plan, and it sounded like they already knew the normal restrictions but I thought they were looking for what we "can" eat, so I wanted them to know that not everyone gets sick from an occasional sip of soda. While I can eat "whatever I want" that doesn't mean that I do. I was simply answering the question and letting them know that I haven't had trouble digesting anything. I am still losing an average of 2-3 lb per week, so even though I'm not super strict or counting carbs, I am still getting the results I had hoped for. I focus on protein first and eat a fraction of what I did in my old life. I don't think it would be physically possible to go back to my old eating habits.
  6. Jane- just wanted to clarify that the things posted (including flying issues and mucus thing) were on the handout from the LapBand surgeon at the meeting...not anything I came up with. I know there are lots of people that have no issues with flying, but there were at least 3 in the room (out of about 20-25) that had problems with flying. What I was meaning was that b/c I fly so much for work that it wasn't a risk I was willing to take. The only thing I know about the mucus thing was that everyone was giving their "home remedies" for what they use to clear them. It all sounded very 'normal' to them, which was what was so sad to me. I'm glad to hear that you didn't have these issues. I just copied the questions word for word and put as many comments as I could remember in hopes that it would prevent even one person from having to go through these side effects or even worse, a revision. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with the group.

Awesome!! Can't wait to get my new one soon. Off topic, but I had no idea that you had to wait to get your license in other states. We get ours same day in Arkansas.

    Arkansas WLS get together

Count me in! let's see who all replies and we can find a location that works for everyone.
  9. Anything I want. I haven't found anything yet that my sleeve won't tolerate, just less of it. Like everyone else....focus on Protein and Water but I do not deprive myself of much and I'm still averaging 2-3 lbs a week. Man oh man, I LOVE MY SLEEVE! Just a few listed above....salads, nuts, steak, fruit, etc. All have been fine for me. I do OCCASIONALLY drink carbonated beverage, but not with a meal and I drink very slowly and small quantity. I have even had some coconut, but I don't over do it.
  10. Wishes - What is "AdBlock" and how do we do it?" Thanks! I'm fed up with them as well. The mobile site on iPad used to not show the ads that have always shown up on the right side of the regular web site version, but the new ads that are in the posts are showing up even on the iPad. Very frustrating when you are using a datacard to now have to use my data usage to pull down images of ads that I don't want in the first place. I honestly think I would rather pay a few dollars a month to be on the boards just to not put up with the ads. At least they could give us the option.

    Vitamin deficiency?

I have had both mouth ulcers (canker sores) inside my mouth and cold sores (fever blisters) on lips, my entire life. I have not had any since surgery but I do not attribute the decline to the surgery. Personally, I have never heard that they are linked to vitamin c deficiency. I have had labs pre op and post op and I am not deficient....so I don't see the connection.

Thanks so much!! You are too sweet.
  13. Tammie - did you decide whether or not to move forward with surgery? Hope you're doing well!! :)

  14. Officially out of the "obese" category! Never thought I would be so happy to call myself "overweight"!! ;)

FIRST POST TO START THING OFF..

Hey guys! I'm in Conway and was sleeved in Van Buren by Dr. Goodnight on 3/28/11. I have lost 67 since surgery day but 115 total since starting my journey. I am actually going to have a photoshoot in a few weeks to do some marketing for Dr. Goodnight and Summit. I'm really hoping that this will help get the word out in AR about the Sleeve and what a great option it is. Just to introduce myself.....I am a wife, mama to 2 kids of my own (4&8) and to two foster children (5&12). I work from home but travel to NWA almost weekly for work. Great to connect with you all! P.S. Holly- Dr. Goodnight has a very good self pay price. Not sure what you're paying in MX (and not asking or being nosy) but just wanted to throw that out there.
  16. Just saw your comment on Jim's post saying your an AR girl. :) I'm in Conway. I was just telling Jim and Rootman that we should all meet up sometime! :)

    Arkansas Sleevers

I didn't realize you were in AR!! I'm in Conway. Jim- just replied to one of your other posts, but I will post here as well. I also had surgery with Dr Goodnight and cannot say enough positive things about him!! Mine was 3/28/11 and I'm down 67 since surgery day (115 overall). I travel to FS some or work, so I'm hoping to make one of the upcoming support group meetings. We should have an AR sleevers meet up sometime b/c I think there are a few more of us on here.
  18. Welcome Jim!! I had surgery with Dr. Goodnight on 3/28/11 and cannot say enough positive things about him!! Have you gone to any of the support group meetings? I live in Central AR, so I haven't been able to make it to one yet. How have things gone for you since surgery?

    Wedding Dress REVEAL!

That is HANDS DOWN the coolest wedding video I have EVER seen! There were multiple times that I said "stunning" with some of the photos of you. I especially loved the rooftop shots at night at the end of the video. What a beautiful couple and such a special way to remember it! Best wishes on your new life together!!

    Bike-riding

I have a dumb question.....but is there such a thing as an "automatic" instead of having to switch gears? We live ON a bike trail and I LOVE riding my bike, but i royally suck at changing gears and have never felt like I learned the proper way to ride. My bike was purchased years ago at Target and I know nothing about bikes. At the time, it was one of the most expensive ones they carried, but I have no clue what kind I should be riding. Our trails are paved and I would love to ride on roads (we have an awesome cycling community here and they do lots of group rides).....but I've been too embarrassed to join in b/c I feel like an idiot that doesn't know when to shift gears! LoL!! We have a great bike shop in town and I've been meaning to go, but thought I would ask you guys since there are some avid riders on here.

    What SIZE are you???

This is a tough one for me because I have been trying so hard to hold off on shopping until I absolutely HAVE to go down in size b/c I don't want to waste the money. Example, bra I'm in now is 38D but it's on the tightest notch and I can fit a cell phone and a tube of lipstick in there with zero problem. FYI....rings are literally fallingoff so I've stopped wearing them. I'm waiting to get them sized until I get closer to goal. Don't know the numbers on that though. As far as shoes, I have always been a solid 9 and sp far that has not changed at all. Before (at 300+.....highest weight, not surgery day): 3x tops, 24 pants (snug), 12 panties, 44DD bra Current (185....just shy of 5 months post op): M or L tops, 12 jeans are loose, 7 panties, 38D bra is loose. Now......my tiny sister gave me some clothes the other day that she has RECENTLY had on her body. I didn't been try them on at first because I thought "no way will these fit". Wellllllll.......hold on yo your hats.......they FIT! Size 10 pencil skirts and the one that made me CRY HYSTERICALLY in the bathroom is a size 8 denim dress that buttons up the front ith cute little capped sleeves. I never in a million years thought I would fit into a size 8 again! The thing that's driving me nuts is he difference in sizes! How in the world can I fit into a size 8 dress and certain size 12 jeans still be too tight?!?!? Argh!!

    Exhausted and Dizzy?

Mine was due to Potassium. If you have had issues with it in the past I would definitely get labs drawn. I didn't have cramps this time, but did have dizziness which had not been a sign for me in the past. Don't want to mess around with it though. Also dehydration can ake you feel these same things so make sure you're getting your fluids.
  23. I've heard of others saying they didn't like MFP b/c it wasn't letting them go below a certain calorie goal, etc. I have never experienced that. It didn't like how low mine was, but after I went in on the site instead of the app it was fine. I used FitDay for years, but love MyFitnessPal sooooo much more.
