  1. hello, I'm almost 10 months in a few days but I don't think I eat more than I did since I was 4 or 5 months out, I hope it stays that way.

for breakfast I have a egg with cheese almost everyday

lunch I have turkey breast with swiss cheese about 3 oz and avacado slices, or left overs from dinner

snack string cheese or cottage cheese or the rest of my lunch

dinner whatever I make for my family, chicken, steak, chili, etc.

snack- magic pop cracker (my favorite one big cracker has 15 calories with 4 grams of carbs) with Peanut Butter or hummas or salsa

I usually have a little fruit and vegatable during the day. I don't eat much breads, Pasta, or rice- it bothers my stomach.

I do two or three times a week have a sweet, I think it helps me stay eating healthy the rest of the time.

  2. wow that does seem very strict. I didn't have to diet until 2 days before my surgery and I could barely stand that. I'm wondering why you can't try different Protein drinks, is it because this is something your doctor sells in his office? If not I would call the office and say you need to try different Protein drinks something you will like. I'm sure lettuce with a drop of dressing is not going to make a difference. I know its hard but after you recover from the surgery your going to feel better than you have in a long time. So if this is what your doctor wants you to do now do your best and know things will get better. Good luck!

So I'm on my 2nd day of my 2 week diet, which includes SF Jello and SF ice pops and 3 disgusting Bariatric Advantage meal replacement protein drinks(only protein drinks my doctor allowed)...I'm excited because I'm that much closer to my surgery date BUT on the other hand I'm sooooo hungry... Y-day on day one I cheated and had one cup of lettuce and a sprinke of dressing... I was wondering is this ok to do? I can not imagine going on for 12 days like this. I know how important this is but I'm super hungry and tired!!

  3. Suzannesh- just curious because I am almost 10 months out but you said it took you 14 months to lose a 105 pounds (which is amazing) but did you continue to lose after a year. I'm nervous i won't finish losing. Also I barely eat 800 calories mostly because I always feel too full but I think I would lose more if I could eat more. How do you all get up to 1000 calories. I too was able to eat most foods by 6 weeks, I think its a good thing.

    Hi,

I think you need to do what is BEST for you. For me I knew I got into trouble eating carbs, so a low carb diet made a WHOLE lot of sense to me. When I was losing weight I ate 800 calories per day and no more than 20 carbs per day. Now if you exercise during the day that burns up some calories so yes you can eat a little more calories--no matter what it was always at 800 calories for me. But if you do NO exercising then I always kept it at 800 calories. I walk about 6 days a week still 3 years later and keep my calories about about 1000. I am 66 years old and know for a fact that I would really have a problem with 1200 calories :o UNLESS I was burning some of them up with exercise.

What do you want to do and what feels right for you? dry.gif I know that most people after surgery at least with Dr. Aceves do 800 calories and no more than 20 carbs a day. It took me 14 months to lose 105 pounds. I never felt bad, I alway felt good.

It is pretty normal at 8 weeks to be able to eat almost anything. Not everyone has the problems that you talked about. The one thing I notices was if something was really sweet. You just might be one of the lucky one.

    Take care,

    Suzanne

  4. Great advice, I know I need a chocolate every few days which helps me not pick. If I see I am snacking more maybe around TOM I make sure to have ready Protein Snacks which also helps. Also I did find I snacked more early on then I do now. We just have to learn to make a conscious effort to know what we are eating and why. Easier said than done I know but you will be okay and give yourself a break your doing great with your weight loss.

  5. Before I was able to eat real Protein I ate a lot more carbs, including potatoes with a cheese sauce. Now I couldn't imaging eating that because it would bother my stomach. Also I didn't start journaling my food intake until I was around 6 weeks. Than I started having about 40 or less total carbs, now at 9 months I have about 60 or less. I'm sure your fine and your doing great with your Protein. Good luck.

  6. I also walk, 2 miles most days of the week. I took me months to get into the habit of exercising now I hate when I miss a day. I think your goal needs to be where you feel comfortable, mine goal is about 10 pounds higher then it should be for my height.

I never did Protein Shakes, I think real food is the most filling. Do you journal your food? If you stick with to the basic ( high protein/low carbs) you will continue to lose. Sometimes a shock to your body can be to increase of calories for a day then lower them. Or very low carbs for a day. One thing I learned is our bodies seldom do what we expect it to do. Good luck :)

  7. I think at 5'7, 135 pound is very low goal, any thing under 160 pounds is a heathly weight. So you lost 58 pounds so far, your almost half way to goal and thats so great. I can't believe nobody is noticing the weight loss, they may not want to say anything. Stick with the basic Protein first and you'll finish losing. Also maybe try to increase your exercise, it does make a difference. I hate to say it but I think were stuck with the stretch marks. Good luck!

  8. Yup, this sounds like my story too. I have been losing 6 pounds a month since I was 3 months out. I am nervous because I've barely lost anything the last 6 weeks. I'm 9 months out and lost about 80 pounds but I still have 47 pounds to go. Coops is right though it will happen. When you think about it, how could it be possible to not lose weight with the amount we eat. Foxgirl, thats a interestiing point you made, my body was at the weight I am now for a long time maybe it just wants to sit there a while.

  9. Hello, I'm also am a single mother with teenagers. My daughter had all four wisdom teeth taken out two days after my surgery, I had to do my best to help her. My son tried to help but thank god it didn't take me long to recover. Family also helped out, but I was back to work (I have a daycare) within a week. Everyone is different so just be more prepared. The best advice I got was to cook and freeze some dinners. Good luck!

Hi Sleever’s I have a question. I am a single mother who will be having my surgery in November and I wanted to know how you all handled caring for your children or households after the surgery. Were you to sore to prepare meals or to exhausted to help your kids with home work. Did you have strength to clean up the house? How long were you down? How long will I need help from friends and family before I can start mommy duty again?

  10. I also use myfitness pal, I track everything which is so important. I didn't know you can scan the bar code, I've got to try that. Also it helps keep track of your exercise and goals.

Hi Robin, I use "myfitnesspal.com" I like it because I can track my food, it remembers what I enter frequently, and I can play with the settings manually. I can set my own calorie and Protein intake goals. It subtracts the numbers for you. You can log your weight and measurements. I like that I can use my phone (droid), ipad, or computer and it will synch them. I can put in a recipe and it will do the calculations. You can scan food from the code on the package and it will load it into your system. That is pretty cool. There are many things you can use it for. I like that I can print it out too. I took it to my nut appt one time. It doesn't take long to put your food in either.

  11. I'm 8 months since surgery and I still like to see what people are eating.

I eat Breakfast around 10- usually a egg with a little cheese

lunch around 1- my favorite about 3 oz of rolled turkey breast, swiss cheese and avacodo

    snack- cheese stick

dinner around 7- whatever I make for my family- chicken, steak, and a little vegetable

snack- Kims magic pop cracker with Peanut Butter, or a Protein bar if my calories are to low

I drink coffee and Water (I never drink enough though)

  12. Hi, I'm pretty sure everyone was nervous before our surgery. For me I was ready to cancel the last few days before. I am so happy I didn't and you will be also. It is the best health decision I made. Of course their will be ups and downs and maybe regrets but you will fine and will work through it. If you have any questions or concerns, the people on this board can answer anything. I'm 8 months out and falling off the wagon is pretty hard with the sleeve. I will sometimes have an extra sweet I didn't need but I'm usually in control because the sleeve won't let me eat crazy the way I used too.

Good luck with the surgery, Janine

Hi. I'm a newbie and I'm finally getting my surgery tomorrow. I thought I was ready and have been waiting for this day for so long. I'm not nervous so much about the operation or any of the unpleasant things afterwards during the post op stage. I am nervous that I am going to fail and fall off the wagon like I have always done in the past. I have always started a diet with the same motivation, dedication and determination then get bored or frustrated around the 3rd week and fall off the wagon. I want so bad to have this work but am really afraid that I will get sick of all the restrictions. I have read so many of these posts and most have helped and are so uplifting but the ones who have encountered all the problems with stalls, Protein supplement intolerance, etc. are really getting me down. Maybe I'm not as ready as I thought I was. Help!

  13. I know it really can be upsetting. I have been feeling down the last few days because of it too. I had my surgery in Nov and lost 76 pounds, 6 pre op. I have another 52 pounds to go and am nervous that maybe I'm done losing. Every month I lose around 6-8 pounds but this month so far nothing. But when I see how little I still eat , I can't imagine not losing weight when I barely take in 900 calories. I know we should not compare ourselves to others and no matter how we lose, were going to get to goal. Plus look how healthy we eat plus exercising. Your doing great,

  14. I going through the same thing. The last few days I have been feeling upset about my weight loss. I'm eight month out and lost 76 pounds and lost nothing this last month. I'm worring if I'm done losing but I stil have 52 pounds to go. Also in NY it is so hot this week and I usually walk 2 miles a day. My Wii broke but I used to like doing the Wii fit. I have a free week at the gym so I'm going to use it. I would not go back to puree food, just see what your eating, and make sure your eating enough Protein. I believe the heat can make a difference in weight loss so it is even more important to drink enough Water. Feel better, Janne

I am now 11 weeks out and going into my second month of a stall. I work in a doctor's office and we have reps bring lunch a couple times a week. There is usually always something I can eat: grilled chicken, green Beans, salad, etc. Today the rep brought boxed lunches: sandwich, chips, chocolate brownie, banana. I was so disappointed and for a minute regretted what I had done to myself. I couldn't take a box and waste everything except the sandwich innards and half a banana. So I went to the cafeteria and got a burger patty. And I was feeling sorry for myself the whole way there.

I lost so much so fast at the beginning that I didn't regret not being able to eat much. I could see pounds coming off every day. Now here I am having not lost a single pound since June 16. It's so hot here that I can't stand walking. When I get home from work it is still in the high 80s/low 90s with a ridiculous heat index. (Tennessee swelters in the summer.) I had been doing the Wii Fit, but it just doesn't seem to be pushing me. So last night I bought The Biggest Loser Challenge for my Wii. I'm going to start on it tonight. Anybody tried it?

If doing this new exercise routine doesn't get things moving in the next couple weeks, I am going to back track to purees. I lost quite a bit during that phase, but the variety of things to puree kept my appetite in check.

  15. I was right where you are now, I was doing the band up to a month before my surgery than said if I'm doing this surgery than I'm doing it right the first time. I knew the band has a lot of trouble and every one who has it seems to have problem. My kids were worried about me having 80% of my stomach removed and wanted me to have the band and I understood their concerns and we talked about, but I knew the sleeve was the right choice. I also heard some mean stuff from my friends and family. Now 8 months later and 76 pounds down, they said they were happy with my decision and I get to everyone I told you so!
