10 Day out from surgery and scared

Hello shellnsons, You won't be alone. I'm going to pray for an Angel to be with you during your surgery and recovery. You have incredible courage to do this by yourself. But, don't fear, I will be praying for you on the 5th. Turtlegirl

10 Day out from surgery and scared

Hello Klus, Thanks. Its so nice to see someone who has the same starting weight as me! I was afraid my lower BMI would make me lose too much weight. But, I see you are doing GREAT! I understand about the larger size clothes. The other day, I walked into Lane Bryant, Catherines, and Dress Barn Woman and didn't buy a thing. It was like saying goodbye to my old life. I looked at a size 12 pants and thought...in 8 months I could be in that size. So, that kind of motivated me to keep going.

Meli, Thanks so much for responding...this forum has helped me so much. Children are a wonderful gift and I can imagine all the fun you two are going to have after your surgery. I wish you all the best on your surgery! Is your surgery on Holloween?

10 Day out from surgery and scared

Lisa, Thanks so much for the encouragement and advice. This certainly has been a roller coaster ride. Had my last nutrition class today and reality has set in. I agree with you that I have gone to far to go back now. Seven days to go. Whew! [quote name=Lisa ' timestamp='1319420848' post='221685] I am 16 days away and I feel the same way sometimes! I am excited but really anxious at the same time. But I've come too far to back out and at this point I just keep telling myself "feel the fear and do it anyway"!!! I would suggest not reading anything about other people's complications or how they felt right after surgery....my feeling is that stuff will only make me worry Hang in there....it won't be much longer and hopefully we'll both be on the other side!!!
  6. Hello fellow sleevers, I have been on this forum reading all of your posts and your amazing progress for a couple of months. Now that I am 10 days out before surgery, I feel like I want to run. I am on the liquid pre-op diet and doing well, but I just keep thinking about what could go wrong. Did any of you feel this way before surgery? Turtlegirl

    Sick & surgery is Tuesday

Fusilli66, Please call your Dr. and mention it to him. He may be able to suggest something for you to take that will not intefer with your surgery. Ask him if you can try Zicam, Qtips that you can swab your nose with. They have always worked well for me and shortened my cold. Since it is supposed to be a natural product, he may let you try that. Also, Vitamin C and Zinc helps also. Good luck with your surgery and I hope you feel better. Turtlegirl

    I have been sleeved!!

Hello Zoelifechick, I am so happy that everything turned out great for you! You are doing so well and no pain is AWESOME. I think it will take a while to get used to the portion sizes. It is a HUGE difference and will likely take some getting used to. I am running around like a mad woman trying to get all the pre-surgery testing done. My surgery date is 2 November at Fair Oaks. I hope and pray that I will do as well as you have. I so needed to read your post today. Had a couple of people say negative things about my decision to have WLS. I brushed them off. But, your post I believe was a sign saying that everything will be okay. Take care and keep me posted on how you are doing. Turtlegirl
  9. Hello LovePINK, Maybe the therapist thought that by saying those things she was helping your case for the surgery. I would hope that was the case. But, don't focus on what happened the first time. It is over now. So, when you do your second eval., Be really positive and upbeat. Tell them that you have made the choice to do this for your health and your wellbeing. Stress that you have a good support system. If you don't have a friend or someone, I suggest you get a couple of people you can trust for your support. Let them know you have joined this support group. Tell them that you will continue your therapy after your surgery to help with any anxiety or depression that may come with weight-loss. Don't focus on anything negative in your life during the session. You will be just fine...I know it! Once you have your surgery and lose the weight your self esteem is going to soar and you will no longer accept any abuse from anyone. Keep pushing on and I will be praying for you. God Bless, TurtleGirl49

    EXCITED AND THANKFUL!!

Hello Zoelifechick, I hope you get this message before your surgery. Isn't it amazing how God puts people in your life to reasure you just when you need it. You met 2 people who have been doing well with the sleeve. I am so excited for you! I finally got my date. I am getting sleeved at Fair Oaks on 2 November. My original date was the 20th of October at Potomac. But, because I have friends who live close to Fair Oaks, I chose that hospital. I know you are nervous...so am I. I don't think we would be normal if we were not nervous. But ,just keep saying to yourself that this is for a better life, and health. I will be praying for you all day on Tuesday. If you need to talk, just call me anytime. God Bless, Turtlegirl49
  12. Hello Zoelifechick, So happy to see that you have gotten your surgery date! Your new life journey is about to begin. No matter what doubt you have jabout this surgery, just keep thinking of the end result...a happy and healthy life. I'm still waiting for my approval from the insurance company. I'm estimating that my surgery may be in October now instead of September :-(. You hang in there and keep thinging positive thoughts. Take care, Turtlegirl49 I was in that same class with you today (lol). I am excited that we will be able to travel this journey together.

a few words to those in dought.

Hello Splashdancer, I am waiting for insurance approval and hope to receive a yes answer soon. I too feel like you. I have not told my family for the same reasons you mentioned (ignorance, fear, anxiety) or just their negative opinions. I have 3 close friends that are my support group. If you have your husband who is really supportive, that is a blessing. Once your family sees how happy you are and how good you look, they will forget that you did not tell them. I think this decision is a personal decision. It is your body and you have the right not to tell everyone what you are having done. I look at this as a time for me to be selfish for once in my life and do something that is for me. This is a huge decision and you don't need the added stress of other peoples opinions. You hang in there and keep thinking real positive, and you will do well. I know you will!
