  1. Raising my hand...I was also a vit d defciant gal prior to surgery. The good news is, with a supplement and maybe even a little sunshine you will be ok. It didn't prevent me from having the sleeve done and all is well. Breathe in and breathe out....crossing my fingers (and toes, and eyes and...) for approval!
  2. You're going to do great!! Congrats on all that's to come!
  3. I did the roll to one side trick too. I like the idea of a pillow though!
  4. You are my hero!!! Your video brought tears to my eyes...tears of joy of course! You walking in the rain...I promise you, the next time I think of some weak excuse to not work out, I will think of you in the rain!! Thank you for posting and keep up the great work!! P.S. Your kids are adorable!!
  5. Just wanted to wish you good luck!! I think it's totally normal to be a basket case...I think I'd be concerned if you weren't a little nervous! This is such a positive step towards good health...I don't think you'll have any regrets.
  6. Congrats to you!!! This is great news!
  7. Over the weekend we went out to dinner with my family. We were taken to our table, which just so happened to be a corner booth. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has avoided booths in the past. I was sleeved 10/18 and am down just shy of 50lbs and I still haven't tackled my fear of the booth. Instead of making a big deal out of where we were seated I figured I'd just cross my fingers and try. Wouldn't you know I was one who had to slide towards the middle? lol Not only did I have NO problems "fitting" but I had lots of extra room! I was so happy and sooo relieved! It's the little things like that that happen on a daily basis that I"m really starting to notice. Loving my sleeve!
  8. Wow a big sleeve day tomorrow!! I'm so excited for you ladies!! Wishing you nothing but the best!
  9. Hang in there you guys! You're right, the pre-op is VERY hard!! Just remember you are smack in the middle of the hardest part. It's so tempting to cheat because your body is feeling everything that you've cut out...but it is for a reason. Stay strong....you're going to do great!
  10. I always love to hear these kinds of success stories!!! You've done an awesome job! Congrats!!
  11. What a great topic!! I have two....the first one is the fact that I have SO much more energy!! I'm not so exhausted at the end of the day and I actually get bored or restless if I'm sitting around for too long! The other is I love that I'm able to get on the floor and play with my 3yr old....and then I'm able to get back UP! lol My sleeve and my losses have allowed me to be a better, more involved mommy!!
  12. Thank you ladies...so glad to hear I'm not alone in this. After reading your posts I'm almost convinced it must be a sensitivity issue. I'm with you sleeve of steel, I'm a little sad when people don't notice. BUT, I cant really complain since it was my decision to exclude them from my experiance. Since we've all had someone not say anything when we wished they would've, let me say to all of you, "YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!! Your losses are something to be excited about and I'm so proud of you!" :-) lol
  13. I've kept my vsg journey under wraps from a lot of people. I could probably count on one hand how many people I've told. My brother and sister in law were in the group of people who are not in the know. I'm close with my brother but not so much with my sister in law. It's not that we don't get along...we do...we just seem to be in two totally different worlds. Anyway, I've seen them a handful of times since I had my procedure and they never said anything. I kept thinking that maybe it was because my sweater was loose or maybe my pants were too loose fitting to tell. Today I saw my sister in law and I was feeling pretty good about myself. Well fitting jeans and a top that wasn't too big for me to hide in...still, she said nothing. There's no way she couldn't have noticed.....right?? I mean 47lbs...I feel like she's bound to have noticed a little bit! What in the world? Have any of you had this happen to you before? I know weight is a sensitive topic...but if it's a loss, why wouldn't someone jump to cheer them on? Weird.
  14. I am SO happy to read this!! I always used a straw pre-op and was really disapointed when I heard that we couldn't use them post-op. I know that I will drink more using one and I cant wait to break them out again!!
  15. Do you have long hair? You may want to bring something to tie your hair back. I wasn't really doing the whole, get up and get pretty routine, so my scrunchies were a must! Good luck to you and your grandmother tomorrrow..how awesome!
  16. I actually used a candy thermometer the first time I made mine. It took about a min to a minute and 15 sec to heat to 130.
  17. This is a tricky question because I've read where some people don't get one, others have one and have it removed before they wake up, some people keep it for a few days and others (me included) keep it about a week post op. I think this varies depending on the doctor. Not much help I know lol
  18. What was she thinking?! I'm no expert but even IF what she said was true...was she trying to scare or upset you?! In your post I didn't hear a single bit of constructive advice...isn't that what they're there for? Don't let her take away your huge accomplishment! You've done an awesome job and I agree with the other posters, if you continue following the rules you can continue to lose! Congrats on an amazing loss!!
  19. I was going to ask about the PPI also. I've noticed, if I take my PPI and then wait about 30-45 mins before I eat, the gurgling isn't nearly as bad/loud. It can get really lound can't it?? lol
  20. Did you cry!? I think I would've cried!! Tears of joy of course!! lol This is so awesome!!!
  21. I was worried about buyers remorse too. In fact, even after I had the sleeve done I kept thinking that I hoped I hadn't made a mistake. Now I'm almost 2months out and I couldn't be happier!! I have so much more energy, I feel better and I know that I've added YEARS to my life! It's funny you said something about being cold all of the time...I'm sitting here with a cold tipped nose and cold fingers as we speak...I guess that's what happens when we shed our fat suit lol. My social life is pretty much filled with running the mom taxi but I don't find that I tire the way I did before. I'm not sure if it's the sleeve and the healthier way of eating or the excercise but I do find that my stress level is down. Healing time was minimal. I think as long as you don't push it and listen to the drs instructions about lifting, walking, and resting when needed..you will be just fine. I honestly think this is wonderful tool and I cant say enough about it! Crossing my fingers that you find the same successes in your journey!! :-)
  22. I know you must be disapointed. But, I'm glad that they are being so cautious! You want this to be as smooth and risk-free as possible. Cry the tears and then get excited again! 9 days in the grand scheme of things, really isn't that long
