  1. I am! I kinda started a few weeks ago and lost about 8 lbs but I kinda fell off track this past week and gained about 4-5 of those 8 back haha... But I started again today... What's your pre-op diet consist of? Mine's basically Atkins... Plus protein shakes if I want.
  2. Yay! Haha I'm excited to have someone to go through this with! Let's keep in touch!!
  3. August 2nd! Got my call this morning... It could have been next week but my husband's birthday is July 30th and I didn't want to be a bum on his birthday... So august 2nd it is! I can't believe it.... I'm nervous but more excited than anything.
  4. I just googled and found mine. I lucked out because he's awesome for me and the top surgeon in az.
  5. I thought the e-coli joke was funny... But I could see how the cancer joke offends people. I lost my dad to cancer and my aunt is battling it right now.... I didn't take offense to the joke but I understand how people could, I guess.
  6. I will only have two. My doctor does single incision surgery... Which is through your belly button... Then I will have the incision where my port is. My surgery is in two weeks! Got the call this morning... :-)
  7. Today. This morning I got a call that my insurance has approved my surgery and it's scheduled for 2 weeks from today. I met with my nutritionist about 3 weeks ago and the first week and 1/2 I did really well and lost 8 lbs... But then I started cheating here and there which eventually just led to eating like I was before. I think I've gained back about 4 of those 8 lbs.... I was like you... Kept saying, "ohhh I start back up tomorrow..." but since I only have 2 weeks left I need to kick it into gear. Good luck!
  8. I finally got the call this morning! My insurance has approved my surgery and it's scheduled for august 2nd... 2 weeks from today! I'm so ready to do this!
  9. I'm the same way as you when it comes to the #2 issue... I was/am eating tons of veggies and it still wasn't doing the trick... So milk of magnesia has become my best friend haha. But that stuff gives you the exact opposite problem which isn't enjoyable either... Soooo I took a day off the high protien and added some rice and a little whole wear pasta and that did the trick. Now I'm back to no carbs and I'm pretty regular. Anyway! Now that you know my BM schedule for the past week... Haha...
  10. Great articles! Dr. Simpson is my surgeon and he's awesome. :-)
  11. That's me! I'm the person that can and does fluctuate 10 lbs in one day. It's crazy. It never gets to me though. My husband "gets on to me" for weighing myself daily... Even sometimes multiple times a day... But I'm different than him. To him, it would drive him nuts to see the weight change all the time... But to me it's interesting.
  12. Milk of magnesia has become my best friend! And I'm not even banded yet... I'm on the pre-op diet and ever since I started this high protein/low carb(aka very low fiber) diet, I can't seem to have a BM on my own. I hate it. I've alway been extremely regular-- like 2-3 times daily... Now I'm only going if I take my milk of magnesia! Oh well....
  13. I've lost almost 15 lbs in 2 weeks. I drink a protein shake for breakfast, one for lunch and lean protien and veggies and a salad for dinner. No carbs! Except for the fruit I have in my protein shake sometimes. If I'm feeling really hungry, sometimes I'll have eggs and bacon for breakfast. Or cheese and turkey for a snack. You can do it! The first week is hard but after that it's super easy! Good luck!
  14. My nutritionist told me not to drink the bullion after surgery because it has the flakes of seasoning in it... I can't imagine how that could make a big difference... But who knows.
  15. Isopure plus is a clear protein drink... It comes in a bottle like vitamin water. There are different flavors. Each bottle has 15 grams of protein. They're colored... But it's still clear. You can get it at GNC.
  16. I'm on less than 20 carbs a day, and atleast65-75 grams of Protein a day. For dinner I I don't make me something separate. I just make low carb for my husband too and if he wants a piece of bread with it or something that's fine. Or for instance, the other night we had friends over for dinner... I made fajitas and I bought the low carb tortillas( not the ones that taste like cat food but the white ones made by Mission)z each small tortilla is 5 carbs. So I had two. I knew ahead of time that's what we were having so I made sure to have no carbs early on in the day. I suggest a high Protein shake for lunch. That will definitely help with getting your protein in and help with your lunch temptations. Also, in the morning, I get a route 44 Water with lemon and lime from sonic and sip on that. I fill it up a couple more times a day and then I'm good! You can do it! The first three days of sticking too it were the hardest for me. I felt so deprived. But if you just put your mind to it you can do it! I've lost 10 lbs in 10 days.
  17. Hahaha! Thats EXACTLY what I said in my head when I read her post. How funny! Contests Girl! How exciting!
  18. My initial weight my first consult was 295 and I'm 5'5". My BMI was 51 or 52.... The hospital my surgeon will be doing my surgery at, required patients be under a 50 BMI. So I have to get under that. I'm currently at a 47 BMI now... I want to lose as much as possible by the time surgery rolls along... I don't want to be too close to that 50... Good luck!
  19. I had to lose the same ad you. I started out with s BMI of 52... Now I'm at 48.7. Currently waiting on my insurance approval. It's hard. Honestly, I lost only 5 lbs during the 3 month period and I've lost the rest on the pre-op diet. I think I have the easy way out though. I can have Protein whenever I want... Just little to no carbs. I cheated last night and ate a bagel. Agh.... That's the first time I've cheated and I could kick myself! I weighed myself this morning and gained 4.5 lbs. NEVER AGAIN! Your doctor's right though.... You'll lose plenty during the pre-op diet. I was too nervous to chance it though so I started a week early. Try cutting out the carbs now... You'll be shocked with how fast you'll shed off some pounds. Good luck!
  20. Hey! I read that you liked your protein shakes an that they were inexpensive.... What were/are you drinking? Thanks!
  21. I went through about 6 months off and on with that. I just went to the chiropractor religiously and it went away. Thats a yucky feeling... I hope it goes away for you soon. We sound very similar. No health issues for me either. Everyone was shocked and told me I was the exception. :-) good luck!
  22. Good luck! Ive been on my pre-op diet for 9 days now... And I've lost 9 pounds! Pretty cool. What's your diet consist of? I just have to eat high Protein and low, low carb. I usually have a couple Protein shakes during the day and then a high protein dinner. Not too shabby. Good luck! When's the surgery?
  23. Her 200 under 200 book is great. Again, I don't know how band friendly it is though... I guess we'll see! I have it and thought it would be a great idea after I'm banded because the portion sizes are fairly small and it's low in calorie. Enjoy!

  25. You can also make your breading out of the original fiber 1 cereal... Just crush it in a food processor. It's waaaay healthier that way. Good luck! Sounds yummy.
